  • Semperivum AKA Mother & Chicks, Hens & Chicks is an easy succulent to grow. But did you know that they can grow "Throwback?" Throwbacks or Atavism is when an ancestral trait reappears after having been lost through evolutionary change. OTHER FEATURED Plants: Echeveria Blue Bird, Senecio Angels Tears, Pachypodium and Graptosedum Francesco Baldi AKA Sedeveria Starburst.

      My mother and I decided to fix up my backyard one Mother’s Day and she brought all kinds of plants/cuttings; including a Kalanchoe Blossfeldiana. The Kalanchoe was the only succulent she brought, it was also the only one I couldn’t make “happy” and I took this as a personal challenge. Its been two years since that Mother’s Day and now that Blossfeldiana is my prettiest succulent :) I haven’t got her to flower yet though, that’s the next challenge.

    My day isn’t complete w/o watching your vlog😘. I’m currently planting my new babies i got in the mail and followed your tips on re-hydrating the roots with a seaweed solution. Most of my plants are bought online and i struggle rooting them faster. I’m definitely learning a lot from you every time. Moving forward, I’m gonna keep using seaweed solution to hydrate my plants before planting. Thanks much😘

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can understand why the government have to limit what comes into WA. Most of these succulents can easily grow wild and take over the WA outback.

    Oh, my goodness that happened to one of my hens and chicks. I couldn't figure out what the heck was happening, but then I realized I used a organic liquid fertilizer on it by accident and I usually don't fertilizer them. The chicks though ended up producing normal looking sempervivum shapes.

    Hello lizk, I have just germinated some succulent seeds, I cover the seedlings with plastic. Will you please suggest me when is the right time to unwrap my seedlings

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once they germinate, I'm assuming you should be able to pick them out with a tweezer and put them on your soil mix. Keep moist and place in bright warm shady area and they should take off.

      Plastic pot or terracotta pot can both be use but for this plant(Sempervivum), plastic pot is probably best to keep moisture in.

    How do you water all these plants

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most of these plants that are mature, and are grown in the open only been watered by rain lately because we had been getting so much rain this year.
      The one that's undercover or in an area where there's no rain(doesn't get wet by rain), I water depending on the plant and season. We just had winter and the last time I watered was 3 weeks ago.
      The baby plants are different story. Please watch my videos for further explanation.
