    Hi April,
    That is an awesome view from your balcony. The CNC carvings really set off the pieces. Excellent job.

    love the way you can say "i decided to do so and so because i think it looked pretty", with my 60 +yrs my well 'travelled' face would not lend itself to making that statement on camera, unless it was made with comedic intent ! great work always thinking outside the box. cheers from australia. by the way love the scenery !

    Nice design and execution. I can see adapting the design to work off a french cleat for a portable easily moved shop shelf to hold tools, paint pots, hardware, etc.
    Especially enjoy your always concise commentary voice over. To the point with clear information about the what, why, and how of your projects.

    Looks great, just one tip. If you spray the wood with clear coat first before the black you wont get the "bleed" like you did with the black and a lot less sanding too. I make tons of CNC & Laser signs

    Awesome video! One tip - if you plane the board before cutting it, you won't get any snipe on the ends of the smaller lengths. Although, I've forgotten to do so myself plenty of times and ended up putting short boards through the planer as well.

    Great project! Thanks for showing people that brass bars are really good for setup. I don't use my finger to check, though - just another brass bar on top - especially with router bits. The hilltop views are some of North Texas' very best.

    Another creative project well done.
    It reminds me of a piece I made years ago for a small barbecue that I wanted to hang on a wrought iron porch railing. It had no legs and I could have used a table but instead I took some scrap half inch stainless steel tubing and bent it to do the same thing as your raiing table does.

    That's really cool and uncomplicated, the value can't be measured in choosing your environment, and what a great environment it is! I've got a vise on my thick 2x6 board topped coffee table & a 32" monitor, and it's where I do most of my work inside. I've also got an outside office set up, under a Walnut Tree I let the branches hang down & shield me from view, but I can see out fine. If I had a perch like yours I'd set up a mount for a 338 Lapua in case there were hogs out there in the distance, that needed dealt with.

    Great job building on building the computer bench. I wonder if you might consider reinforcing the mounting arm with metal or some other means. The pine used to build the hanger has a tendency to shrink and crack over time. You never know it might hold up and work fine. I admire your creativity and ability to build things that are not easy to do.

    I love this April, very cool. My wife and I love watching your videos. You do a great job of explaining things and with such humor! Thank you for the inspiration! Its due to folks like you that we decided to make our own channel. We normally watch your videos directly on our television since we don't have cable, so we don't typically make comments, but I loved this one so much that I had to jump in. My wife works from home and I bet she would love for me to make this while working so she could watch the goats and chickens while she worked. Thank you. If you have any advice as a new youtuber, I would love to hear it. You rock April! Keep it up. If you ever have a colab coming up, I would be interested in seeing what I could do to join in! Thanks again. -Kenny

    Interesting project and well presented. I noticed you using those brass bars in your saw setup. I use them also, but have found that using aluminum flat stock works even better for most setups, a couple of pieces in the various sizes available will stack up to whatever you need. The big advantage on both router and table saw is to use them in about one foot lengths. There easier to handle then the shorter brass bars and keep your fingers away from blade and bit that can cut even when not moving..

    Great idea, the portion that overhangs the top of deck rail looks like it would probably break off as cedar aged. With your welding skills, that portion would be perfect as 11 gauge plate stock.

    • @AprilWilkerson
      @AprilWilkerson  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I'll see. If it does start to break I'll handle it then.

    • @carygrant8796
      @carygrant8796 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      This was my first concern as well. It wouldn't take much weight, leaning on the table to cause it to break at the overhang. I think a metal frame with a cosmetic cedar facade would be safer and last longer.

    • @JDeWittDIY
      @JDeWittDIY 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Instead of metal, you could turn the grain 90 degrees. Wood is plenty strong for this as long as you go with the grain.

    • @TheJefferson
      @TheJefferson 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A gusset or rib over the top would also make it much stronger

    • @JDeWittDIY
      @JDeWittDIY 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're quite right Jeffrey. You could just add two strips to the top and back of the hook that go in the opposite direction of the current grain direction.

    Cool project, I like the way it looks and how it came out.
    So I already have a nice outside 'view' table on my back deck but it gave me some useful ideas for another little project on my list. I've been thinking about building a small laptop desk & reading table that will clamp onto the back of my bed's headboard (in much of the same way as your's works with those deck rails) when not in use.
    THX & love your channel.

    I have to say one thing that concerns me is you said you left room for a mouse, but you have the spacing between slats. If it's an optical mouse it may act kind of weird because the mouse relies on a surface underneath it. Might want a small mousepad if the mouse jumps around on you.
