I like your no nonsense, unceremonious efficiency. That would have taken me 3 times as long even if I knew exactly what to do.

Thanks so much. I was able to replace my fan by watching this and taking pics for the wire positions.
If your having trouble finding a motor, I pulled the motor first then took it to a local electric motor shop and they just matched up all the specs.

A magnetic parts bowl would help you keep track of all those screws.

We have the same American Standard Freedom 80 in our home and I just changed the Inducer Motor last month. It was installed in 2001 and has lasted for a while. Love the furnace... It heats our house just great. I do my own cleaning every other year really good. I remove the burners and the flame sensor and clean them really well.. I do more than what's listed but I don't want to list it all haha... Still watching here in Michigan also and keep the vlogs coming...

Next time put something on the ceramic tile so you don't scratch them up just put a towel or something down. And for the guy that loses the screws in the comment below one carry around like a little cup where you could throw them all in one spot so you don't lose them it's not that difficult.

No kidding put something down on the tile before you scratch the hell out of it I'll be piss if I had you working on my furnace seems like you didn't want to be there dropping tools on the tile surprised you didn't crack any

I believe there is supposed to be round rubber bushings on either side of the motor where it meets the bracket

So, I’m not the only one who loses screws. I lose my tools while I’m doing the job as well.

Those after market universal motors float on those Trane brackets, every time the motor starts it jerks and moves until the wires are guillotined at blower housing brackets.

Somebody was off camera and assisting. Most of the time you picked up the drill a screw was already in the holder. You should make the assistant responsible for keeping track of all the hardware with a magnetic ashtray (as another reviewer suggested). I would have liked to see a close up of the wiring and know what to do if the motor rotates in the wrong direction. I may be doing this repair soon and find out for myself. I always take “before” photos to help me to reassemble. Thanks for making it look easy.

PSC will last another 20-30 years, I put oil in mine, even one not oilable, I let thick oil run in bearing, oilable ones can last 50+ years, I have a 50 year old one used all the time, perfect. ECM forget it. For the $50 per year in kwh saving if you have to replace it after 9 years, you save nothing. At least mandated blower ECM's have 10 year warranty now.

The door switch should come off with the bracket for the ckt board. The screws holding it should be in 2 holes in the blower shelf.

Just loosens the set screw and pulls motor out like it's nothing. I always get the one that require a puller. Anyways good job!

I have been considering having some pins drilled into my forehead for my headlamp. The rechargeable headlamps are great but the damn elastic band straps really suck. Maybe just some SS zip screws would work.

Guys tool bag is like a woman’s purse. Loose track of how much stuff you keep adding to it. Starts getting heavy. Always hated those motor brackets. Funny how people ( consumers) like the furnaces getting smaller. Mechanics only see a loss of work room when changing parts. More knuckle dusters due to space constraints. Sorry your workin on a Sunday let alone twice.🇨🇦

I’m not an HVAC guy but can someone please answer this question? I have a 94 Carrier Weathermaker 88k BTU 58WAV. The furnace was installed backwards and therefore the fan motor is on the return side. I’m guessing they did this because they didn’t want to relocate my gas lines. Just wondering if you’ve seen this before and if it has some negative impact on the unit/airflow. The position of the motor in the center is obviously restricting airflow but I’m not getting any error codes. Furnace to be replaced eventually but just curious. Also don’t want to spend the money for someone to measure the CFM output. Can blower motors be ordered with the fan opening on either side? Thanks
