- TIME and EFFORT, were clearly a big part of this build we found at Street Car Takeover - Phoenix! We caught up with Glen Bolz of Hot Rods by Glen as he tested his new suspension setup to dial it in before Street Car Super Nationals and got a taste of what this car is all about... This GORGEOUS 1966 Chevy II has been meticulously built to perfection by its owner. Running a 139MM F3R PROCHARGER, this industry leading Steve Morris built engine, pushes over 2200HP! Dipping deep into 7 second passes already, the car’s personal record of 7.25 @ 196MPH is only scraping the surface of its potential. We look forward to this BEAUTIFUL BEAST making it into the 6’s!

One of my all time FAVORITE cars showed up at Street Car Takeover Phoenix, it was awesome to see this car in action after seeing it all over the Internet during the build!

I really respect the fact that he built that car , any Richey rich can drop 250k on a fully built promod but not everyone can build shit themselves ,
Welding a tube chassis and building a pro mod engine are a little different.. besides a lot of the richy rich's have to work for that money and don't have the time to learn how to build a multi thousand HP engine, that doesn't make them less legitimate as racers. Tom Bailey himself uses SM engines
Notice how on the last pass his tail wanted to fly out so he deployed the chute to straighten it out, impressive.

It might have a G force sensor in it that when it detects a certain amount of sideways Gs it'll automatically deploy the chute.

+kinsel It is for the guys at NRE.. They had one of their motors break the dyno in one of the vids i watch a while back... They put out some SERIOUS ponies at really low RPMs alot of the time
+Brandon Stone Did you really just say that because Nelson overpowered the water brake on his dyno that it means they know how to get power to the ground? Getting big power to the ground is no easy feat by any stretch, especially through small tires at that! I've yet to see a single vid of NRE doing anything but blowing the tires up in smoke, which isn't impressive or hard to do for that matter and has proven to be a rather ineffective method of getting down the track quickly. Posting vid's of burnouts on the street and putting big numbers on the dyno is only impressive for people who don't really know what they're looking at. They do build some neat stuff that's more geared toward the big money crate-motor "hotrod" guys that are more interested in cruising to the local parking lot on Saturday night's to flip open the hood and show off their chrome and talk about how much horsepower their car has and quote dyno numbers. Can't say that I've ever heard of any real legit racers running NRE's motors tho.
I meant to say that they build high hp motors on lower amounts of boost not rpm's... BUT They have built motors for damn near everything from what I've seen.. Along with that, they built a pretty night engine for a baja truck i think it was... But to me if you're able to make 800-900hp on motor and over 2k on boost is nothing to slouch at.. But smoking the hell out of the tires at half throttle is pretty good in my book...

We had a car to do the same thing, put the four link in the natural position, which should put the insist center behind the drivers seat, adjust coils on the rear shocks up about four turns, test the car, if it doesn't respond adjust the he coils up a couple more turns. I watched my father do this to our chassis car to correct it from going to the right. I'm no expert I think this setup will work on a 10.5 tire car. If you try it and it works let me know. Now sit back and watch that car fly.

That car is in Phoenix? Every time I go to the track in Chandler the only cars running are Mustangs and Corvettes.

Honestly faster cars run on 1/8 miles. Not counting top-fuelers. They usually have less gear to run.

what's the life expectancy of a motor like that? ie, how many passes before a rebuild is in order?
Glen's had that car for about 3 years now and hasn't rebuilt the engine since, just proper maintenance of a race engine, but nothing catastrophic yet

I have heard about turbo charging and super charging, but what is procharging
Procharger is the brand of centrifugal superchargers, basically a belt driven supercharger, they provide the coolest IATS when it comes to boost and has grown a lot of popularity recently for a lot of V8 cars

A pro charger is driven by a belt and turbo is driven by the exhaust

anniversary edition came with a boosted 6 like the gsx grand national. sweet little engines and looks like he sweetened it up.

That thing is all over the place, and you have to let off the gas immediately after launch. Beautiful car but definitely needs further tweaking.

No the most it's made so far is 2252, his fastest pass is now a 7.1 @ 199, he used to be my old boss, super cool guy and it's still a 100% street car
