Especially since Penguin only takes place like a week after The Batman, and before the movie, Bruce was used to dealing with basic thugs and criminals.
By that same token, Penguin had his Maserati flipped by Batman (which they never mention on the show) as well as a beating afterwards at the hands of Gordon and Batman. They both should be lying in bed somewhere.
@@bigsmilie07He also Injected himself with something and we don't know the lasting effects. So he might not have felt the pain until he got back home and took the batsuit off.
I like this idea of Bruce Wayne showing his resolve to help with the cleanup of Gotham City in the beginning of the Batman 2 before resuming his crusade as the Batman.
We actually know for a fact that Bruce Wayne is NOT helping the people of Gotham during the events of The Penguin, since Oz had to personally strongarm a politician into allowing poor people to have electricity and heat (something Batman could have done, even if Bruce didn't have the pull).
You can easily explain that was an issue in an isolated, small part of town. That doesn't prove anything, not to mention this is being attempted to be shown in somewhat real time. Can't just snap your fingers and fixed an entire area of a city. Batman's trying to fix a WHOLE city, it's easy to miss all the small details and such, which can and might lead to people not trusting the Batman bc he hasn't helped THEM, personally. Something superheroes always get tasked with, handling more than anyone should ask for.
1. At the beginning of the film, he already said he couldn't be everywhere. Hes probably helping those that were direcrly affected by the flood in orfer to build a connection to Gotham. Once there's significant progress or Penguin interferes with his progress, that's when he'll confront Penguin. 2. He feels like he failed Gotham. He may have beaten Riddler, but people still died and thatll weight on his conscious. Maybe this will be where he realizes he can be as much of an help as Bruce Wayne and start leaning into the playboy persona he needs to.
And some of the people directly affected by the flood were in crown point, which got blown up. Don't see how batman looks away after explosions led to a devastating flood. Also, sofia introduced a new drug even more addictive than drops. I don't think batman will be glad with that. Then, there's a reason gang wars are bad. Gang wars lead to death of both criminals and sometimes civilians. It causes fear among the public when a gangster is found killed and posed for all to see out in the open. Gang wars are just bad news. And they increase the number of weapons on the street. Batman won't be happy with that either He cant be everywhere, but he can sure as hell investigate when shit is going on. To say he is too busy being Bruce Wayne makes no sense. Bruce Wayne didn't save people after the flood, Bruce Wayne didn't stop the riddler. Batman did. Bruce Wayne's money can help those hurt by the flood. For those wondering the real reason why the Batman is not in the Penguin show it’s simply due to licensing. Warner does not own the LIVE ACTION tv rights to Batman. They do own the animated rights but they specifically do not own the Live action rights. Those rights were sold off to ABC years ago post 60’s Batman then ABC was bought by you guessed it but Disney, who apply to renew the license every single time it might expire just to spite the competition. The very few times we’ve seen a Live action tv Batman was the end of Gotham for 1 shot (negotiations took place for that to happen) and a thrown away suit (just the suit) in a flash forward scene of a potential future in some tv show like Flash or Smallville. This is the reason why every Batman Live action appearance has been Bruce Wayne and not Bruce in the costume. They are allowed Bruce Wayne but not allowed to show Batman. Uh, the movie established it was literally the first time he ever showed up. The Riddler (who they mention) was the one causing all the real trouble in the city, pretty sure flooding half of Gotham overshadows one dude that 99% of the cast never encountered.
I hope they explain his missing in the sequel cause although i love the penguin series, it almost doesn't feel like a story contained within batman universe. He should be on his toes at every big crime and murder. Oh alberto falcone was murdered? There he is looking for clues. Oh the entire freakin falcone family gets gassed to death? Batman should be showing up looking for clues. Oh a new drug called "bliss" is popular? Lets investigate it. Its just not in his character to ignore these sort of things. I've been saying that It would be cool if Batman actually does make an appearance....but we don't know it's him. With Matt Reeves finally letting us see the detective side of Batman on the big screen, this would be a great opportunity to see Batman's "Matches Malone" persona. Batman going undercover wearing disguises was some of the most compelling moments of Batman TAS. Imagine Oz's crew bring in a guy they think works for(or has information on) Sophia. They beat him up and interrogate him, then Oz has them take the guy's wallet and we see "Matches Malone" on his ID, to which Oz jokes "hey hey, fellas! Take it easy...leave em alone(Malone) huh hahahaha", *Oz puts a cigar in his mouth* "Jesus...hey, Matches....ya got a light? 😂". Then after Oz reveals some info in passing during a conversation, the lights cut out, they scramble to get them back on and see all of Oz's guys are knocked out and Matches is gone with a card left on one of his thugs *...thanks for the info*

True but you have to understand that this is early Batman. Not everyone is even aware of his existence or see him as a threat right now. You should watch the long Halloween. It shows how much the top crime leaders didn’t even care about Batman until he went for them personally.
@Bleeblooplu There is no way they aren't aware of his existence. He is literally seen on the news, saving people from the flood at the end of the movie. I assumed he took a step back and dedicated himself to being Bruce Wayne for a while to help the people of Gotham via Wayne industries rather a Batman.
Personally I haven't been too concerned with trying to figure out if the lack of batman in this series affects the continuity at all. The series so far is downright amazing standing on it's own. I hope they hold off for as long as they can story wise on introducing the masked hero element and really expand on this side of Gotham.
@@jsuisdetropNot really, crime isn’t going to change without Bruce working on himself and improving structure of life. Also it’s only been at least 3 months, nothing big has been going on this last episode.
@Tre.Anthony2025-g4z that doesn't work either since making him sit out a Gotham in chaos also seems bizarre. They really did shoot themselves in the foot with The Batman's second climax. Can't say he's helping elsewhere since that would be public and brought up characters. The mob war isn't even quiet enough to go under his radar.
*Smallville:* No tights, no flights. *The Penguin:* No bats, no cats. And that's how it should be. This series is about the evolution of a villain. We'll get plenty of the Dark Knight in The Batman 2.
I'm more shocked they didn't even bring him up when they got their mushroom delivery service running like not a single one was worried about getting caught by "The Bat" nor any of them were captured and beaten and mentioned that [insert goon name] was caught by the bat.
@@aurahoneydew9607 He's only active as Batman for two years, I don't believe it a long enough period for him to be a Boogieman for every criminal in the city.
Since he wasn't the Bruce Wayne we're all familiar with & he was neglecting the Wayne business in the first film, I feel like he's probably busy putting an effort into finally being Bruce Wayne & doing Bruce Wayne stuff during this Penguin series. Imo, that would be a solid explanation.
Episode one was very well done. The dialog, the acting, the settings, the lighting and the makeup have all renewed my search for an adult drama relating to this type venue. Stay away Batman. Bravo
Batman doesn´t have split personality, he is not going through a "more Bruce phase". Batman is a one man operation and the series takes place during a few months, so he could just be hitting muggers and rapist every night. Crime has gone up 40% according to the news, so the city is a busy place.
Hes not saying he has a split personality. Just that bruce used to think only being batman and beating up criminals was good for the city, but now realizes actually helping people with his wealth can be good too
I’m picturing the final scene: Penguin’s soaking up his win from the gang war, totally basking in it. Then-bam!-a shadowy figure steps in. Batman’s silhouette looms (no need to show Robert Pattinson), and just as it all sinks in, Penguin mutters, 'Oh...fuck!' Fade to black. Now *that* would be epic!
Oh that would be awful! A lazy mcu style "get excited for next product " post credit scene ending. Hopefully, they will do better and break out Batman for a true appearance in the finale.
This is early batman, he's rebuilding himself from how he was, turning himself away from vengeance and into the Dark Knight that he needs to be for the people, which means training, major upgrades to his very basic and cobbled together gadgets, making his company be the best it can be for the people (the train lines haven't been added throughout the city yet) he also needs to set up his beacons all over the city and mind you, most of what happened in the series is majorly underground and probably isn't something he's not paying much attention to at the moment especially as, by the end of this series, the main problem effecting the people of Gotham (which is the drugs) has pretty much solved itself.
Thank goodness, thought you may have suggested he was off training with the League of Assassins! Gotham is such a great setting, they are nailing it with the movie and the show. Great insight and well thought out!
If Batman or Bruce Wayne doesn't show up in the Penguin finale, I think it can be likely that Commissioner Gordon would still make a cameo or guest appearance.
Nah Matt Reeves and even the Penguin showrunner are incredibly embarrassed of the bigger Batman stuff and expressed how it will not be used in this universe. They're like Todd Phillips where they want to write their more grounded original stories and simply wear the Batman property skin to get people to watch while also expressing frustration that Batman fans tune in to see Batman stuff. It's a real oxymoron.
We need a last episode twist, where it leads to a dramatic mob showdown between Sofia and penguin, just for the Batman to swoop in and dismantle the operation. It would lead perfectly to the next movie, with both Sofia and penguin gunning for Batman for revenge
I feel like they should have ended The Batman with the impression to criminals that Batman was killed. That would make Penguins behavior make sense. He should be on edge thinking Batman may come after him any moment but he doesn’t seem to be.
Batman has always been part Ninja, part Psy-Op, allowing his Legend to spread and grow. There’s an awkward line of dialogue attempting to address this in The Dark Knight when one thug says to another about how he has a better chance of “winning the Powerball” than seeing him (Batman). I’ve said that the best thing The Batman does (besides actual detective work) is give Bruce his Inner Monologue in the form of his journal.
Man just imagine it:when Penguin and Sofia are in a warehouse full of armed goons about to kill each-other and then the theme starts and you see the Batmobile smashing in and the Bat jumping out.
If I'm being honest Batman isn't the only one who should appear in penguin finale. It should be Catwoman the half sister of Sophia. I won't lie her family was crap. What they did to her wasn't forgivable, but her father did to her mother. there isn't it's not too late. for her
I disagree, I think she doesn't need to be there. I don't think it adds any value to the story they are trying to tell with Sophia, and I feel like Catwoman's story arc in the Batman was all we needed for her character at least for a little while.
Bruce not showing up makes the world seem larger. Bat symbol only shows up when penguin becomes kingpin which Gordon finds out when Sofia goes back the Arkham
I’d like to think right after the credits rolled Bruce says to himself “what am I doing?” then turned that bike right around and headed for Blüdhaven or wherever Salina was going to “recover” for a bit during this show.
So an entire crime family gets taken out, right after Sofia gets out of jail, a new drug comes out in the city and a mob war breaks out and most recently a big explosion happens while one mob family leader escapes prison yet he doesn’t even do anything? Makes no sense.
Batman is recovering. Some silhouettes of him in a bed would of been nice. It would hint to his injuries without showing him. He could be watching the news. Close up of his hands gripping something in anger.
After Sofia Falcone bombed Crown Point and it hit the news, the Batman signal risened in the sky. He knows a gang war is happening and will now investigate it! The Penguin got Vengeance to worry about again!
Imagine, season finale. Penguin is about to get everything he ever wanted. But then batman shows up. You dont really see me or hear him. And he just blows up his whole operation. Would be so sick. Just a force of unpredictable nature that comes and goes and leaves the Penguin in shambles.
I HOPE in the season finale things will get so insane we will at least see the Bat Signal right at the END. If you want a cliffhanger for hype, that is the top tier way to do it.
Batman wasn't there because it was the Penguin's show, and the writers didn't need him to tell the story they wanted to tell. That's the beauty of editing.

Personally I haven't been too concerned with trying to figure out if the lack of batman in this series affects the continuity at all. The series so far is downright amazing standing on it's own. I hope they hold off for as long as they can story wise on introducing the masked hero element and really expand on this side of Gotham.
Batman not appearing when a section of gotham getting bombed is just bizarre atp.
He’s busy with the Justice League
After this week’s ep I immediately asked my brother “where the fuck is Bruce?”😂
HE'S AT HOME, WASHING HIS TIGHTS!
The answer I was searching for!
Would love a Riddler series done in the vein of The Blacklist
there is a riddler comic set in this universe known as riddler year one
After ep7, ep8 should start with Batman investigating or monitoring what happened. Unavoidable, unless he is out of town.
Doubt they gonna cast Robert Pattinson for that
@TrueRaps maybe Keaton 🫠
*Smallville:* No tights, no flights.
*The Penguin:* No bats, no cats.
And that's how it should be. This series is about the evolution of a villain. We'll get plenty of the Dark Knight in The Batman 2.
Doesn't work the same if they're doing high profile crimes and aren't attracting the bat after knowing he's in this world
Memo to self: Learn the difference between "night" and "knight".
Awesome! I thought this voice was familiar. Love your content Stupendous!!
I hope we get to see more Bruce Wayne the first one was more batman centered but I hope they also focus on his Bruce Wayne persona.
He is probably somewhere off with Ras
Everyone cannot lie to themselves . ...You know you needed this video
Batman is gearing up. Gotta have those toys
If Batman in the continuity has been missing long term, the penguin show would’ve atleast left a newspaper-esq headline Easter egg.
I didn't know he does DC on here also…
People when a show about the Penguin is about the Penguin:
We need more of this from you. Matt Reeves is reviving super heroes and story telling
BROOOO THIS IS STUPENDOUS!!!!!!!
I'm just picturing batman working at a local soup kitchen
batman be like "not my show, not my problems"
Since he wasn't the Bruce Wayne we're all familiar with & he was neglecting the Wayne business in the first film, I feel like he's probably busy putting an effort into finally being Bruce Wayne & doing Bruce Wayne stuff during this Penguin series. Imo, that would be a solid explanation.
That’s a very very sound explanation. I love this.
He also said in the movie “I can’t be everywhere” when he was having his signal monologue at the beginning of the movie
Episode one was very well done. The dialog, the acting, the settings, the lighting and the makeup have all renewed my search for an adult drama relating to this type venue. Stay away Batman. Bravo
This is the perfect time & set to show Batman’s effects without showing Batman.
He didn’t know the renewal fund was being abused when Reale was talking to him.
👏🏾👏🏾
In addition we hear the Vengence theme
Oh that would be awful! A lazy mcu style "get excited for next product " post credit scene ending. Hopefully, they will do better and break out Batman for a true appearance in the finale.
@@aurahoneydew9607 we know Rob is not there so they need to do something like in the shadow if you want to see batman
The ending was actually better than that, imo...
Batman busy making new technology and training for the next big thing
Thank goodness, thought you may have suggested he was off training with the League of Assassins! Gotham is such a great setting, they are nailing it with the movie and the show. Great insight and well thought out!
If Batman or Bruce Wayne doesn't show up in the Penguin finale, I think it can be likely that Commissioner Gordon would still make a cameo or guest appearance.
I reckon the explosion in the recent episode will be the start of The Batman 2.
I was so surprised by how good The Batman was. I'd lost all hope in DC but this film single handedly brought me hope.
He was offworld with the Justice League, battling Darkseid.
I think he's off training with the Ras al ghul and the league of shadows. Or there something bigger happening.
@@aurahoneydew9607 i heard that too. However its very easy to ground the league and even ras al ghul.
Doubt that tbh. There is way too much chaos happening in Gotham for him to just “leave” even if it is for better training.
It’s funny cos Ras Al Ghul was never Bruce’s mentor in the comics. Christopher Nolan made that up.
Batman is doing homework on the ops
Maybe it’s because most of the series takes place during the day and the bat only comes out at night
We need a last episode twist, where it leads to a dramatic mob showdown between Sofia and penguin, just for the Batman to swoop in and dismantle the operation. It would lead perfectly to the next movie, with both Sofia and penguin gunning for Batman for revenge
Black Mask - actually Jeremiah Arkham - actually Dr. Julian Rush!
I feel like they should have ended The Batman with the impression to criminals that Batman was killed.
That would make Penguins behavior make sense.
He should be on edge thinking Batman may come after him any moment but he doesn’t seem to be.
same pfp though
That would ruin the nice arc batman goes through though
I still have hope that in the final episode while penguin and hangman are fighting each other we hear his footsteps coming from the shadows
She’s not the hangman
He's at home washing his tights
Batman has always been part Ninja, part Psy-Op, allowing his Legend to spread and grow. There’s an awkward line of dialogue attempting to address this in The Dark Knight when one thug says to another about how he has a better chance of “winning the Powerball” than seeing him (Batman). I’ve said that the best thing The Batman does (besides actual detective work) is give Bruce his Inner Monologue in the form of his journal.
Lol this version of the character looks more Tony Sorprano than Penguin
He looks way better than danny de vitos penguin
The Bratman is busy protesting ,being an activist and complaining to his therapist about the problems of being wealthy
Bruce not showing up makes the world seem larger. Bat symbol only shows up when penguin becomes kingpin which Gordon finds out when Sofia goes back the Arkham
Enjoyed this. Much love.💪🏾💙
They didn't want to pay Robert Pattinson to make an appearance. Case solved.
If Batman shows up at the end of the penguin it could just be Batman not Robert Pattinson but it’s still a bit away
He’ll also be giving his suit MASSIVE upgrades.
We might see Lucius Fox in Batman 2.
A: He's at home washin his tights.
It would be nice to see him exchange his black cowl and cape for blue, to represent this shift
The city is the size of fucking New York. Idk why so many people wonder why Batman isn’t involved in a singular gang war.
He was filming Batman 2
I’d like to think right after the credits rolled Bruce says to himself “what am I doing?” then turned that bike right around and headed for Blüdhaven or wherever Salina was going to “recover” for a bit during this show.
So an entire crime family gets taken out, right after Sofia gets out of jail, a new drug comes out in the city and a mob war breaks out and most recently a big explosion happens while one mob family leader escapes prison yet he doesn’t even do anything? Makes no sense.
Batman is somewhere learning to fight for the next bad guy
He’s taking care of Alfred and himself it’s been one week since he had that shotgun to his chest and Alfred is still hurt.
Good video mate. The Penguin is phenomenal but we should have seen some gangsters mention The Bat
The bad guys are destroying each other in The Penguin. All Batman has to do is wait out the fight and then knock out the victor!
Batman is recovering. Some silhouettes of him in a bed would of been nice. It would hint to his injuries without showing him. He could be watching the news. Close up of his hands gripping something in anger.
I don't know, a new drug flooding the city, an entire crime family wiped out one night, another a few days later? Surely that warrants some attention.
After Sofia Falcone bombed Crown Point and it hit the news, the Batman signal risened in the sky. He knows a gang war is happening and will now investigate it! The Penguin got Vengeance to worry about again!
That confused the hell out of me when I heard that voice talking about batman and not star wars
They really should have made more minor references to the batman
Batman’s at home…washing his tights!
Batman wasn't there because it was the Penguin's show, and the writers didn't need him to tell the story they wanted to tell. That's the beauty of editing.
