I love that they want to keep Batman mysterious and mythical. If he were present regularly it'd just feel like "Well why didn't they do Batman tv show instead?" But it's so fitting and accurate to the comics for Batman to be out there but no one knows where. He could be monitoring all of Penguin's movements, plots, schemes, etc. But we'll never know until he strikes and that's why Reeves nails the movie and the tv show. He understands the source material and understands that fans will pick up on things that don't fit.
He sustained a lot of injuries at the end of the movie so it makes sense if he needs a rest. But also he had some realizations at the end psychologically. I'm confused as to why they don't at least talk about him. It seems like he kind of came out of the shadows in the movie and you think more people would be talking about a man dressed up like a bat🤷🏻♂️
I get where you're coming from but I feel like in that situation people will talk about the disaster more than someone dressed up as a bat at the disaster. I think we will get a brief mention of him eventually or atleast a little tease of him it just won't be Robert Pattinson it'll be a shot of his boots or cape or a shot of the bat signal to show that the batman is back now
Maybe Vic: "Oz do you think we'll be okay doing all these business out in the open with the batman lurking"? The next two films would probably fix that by giving Batman more and Penguin less again total but that’ll be a while and that’s assuming he Mr. Reeves commits to trilogy.

I'm glad they didn't, it allowed me to even forget this is a spinoff of Batman and see the world of crime in Gotham and somewhat sympathize with people trying to survive but being the worst humans meanwhiel
What I wpuld love is for the final episode to be the culmination of the Penguin's plan. But it all goes Breaking Bad at the last second because Batman shows up and completely fucks up everything. You dont really see him but you hear him, Oz's goons go missing and his masterplan gets fucked up right at the end. The only time we see Batman is like some terrifying Exorcist 3 style jump scare following the characters around, just flashes here and there, Batman setting off traps and creating distractions. It goes south and its like Oz is being haunted by a ghost.

It’s much better that they’re not making it about Batman. I like the idea of being in the street level with Penguin. I love that response, it was perfect. The idea of Batman should remain loke the boogieman since we are seeing from the point of view of street thugs. We dont need to see him but know he's there. I absolutely love what they have been doing with the show. This feels like Gotham.
It's so weird not having batman in the show considering the show takes place right after the movie. They don't even bother mentioning him. There's nothing heard about batman or Bruce Wayne. Where he is or what he's doing right now?

Honestly what I felt should have happened is that with these spin off shows between each season there should be appearances of Batman but as a looming background threat. When they did the chase scene in episode 1 it would have been cool to have the Batmobile crash into the people that were chasing Oz and he gets away. Little things like that will go a long way with fans I know it.
I think he is healing,he took a lot of damage especially towards the end so yeah,he may want to do something but his body may be in such a weak state so its better to stay put and recover.
Tbh I've always preferred it this way, when it feels more like a mob/crime/thriller than a superhero show. When Batman shows up in S2, I hope it's like The Nolan Dark Knight trilogy where he is portrayed more as a vigilante who fights terrorism than a "superhero"
I live to think he’s reanimating some of his methods and is building new and better tech to help in his crusade. Likewise, he could be getting more involved in Wayne Ent. because while the city does need a crime fighter, it also needs disaster relief and aid. Who better to find that than Gotham’s bet on Billionaire, Bruce Wayne?
That time in Gotham was all about the war between Falcone/Maroni. The time of The Long Halloween. Batman would be heavily involved, and Catwoman is Falcone's illegitimate daughter, so she would be there as well.
It would be cool if Batman actually does make an appearance....but we don't know it's him. With Matt Reeves finally letting us see the detective side of Batman on the big screen, this would be a great opportunity to see Batman's "Matches Malone" persona. Batman going undercover wearing disguises was some of the most compelling moments of Batman TAS. Imagine Oz's crew bring in a guy they think works for(or has information on) Sophia. They beat him up and interrogate him, then Oz has them take the guy's wallet and we see "Matches Malone" on his ID, to which Oz jokes "hey hey, fellas! Take it easy...leave em alone(Malone) huh hahahaha", "hey Matches....got a light 😂". Then after Oz reveals some info in passing during a conversation, the lights cut out, they scramble to get them back on and see all of Oz's guys are knocked out and Matches is gone.
I love this show because I ain't even thinking of Batman. I forget he exists and that how it would be everyday in Gotham. All they know is stories of a crazy vigilante from the news but everyone is just trying to survive so the bat guy isn't what people think about. It's will I be a statistic in this world run by druglords and corrupt politicians. There's no "superman" in the sky to protect me when I find myself in a dark alley. Just myself watching over my shoulder trying to get home at night.
I’m ok with the idea of him not showing up but at least light that symbol in the sky show us how feared Batman is for the underground of Gothman through the villains perspectives it would make us understand better the villains and build them further for Part 2
They should have atleast had him hidden/doing surveillance on rooftops a couple of times throughout the show, just to show us that he’s still out there watching
This is another interesting dynamic, I guarantee for a fact that maybe that tv series of the penguin without the Batman it’s gonna last 1 one season. Same as the Joker 2 movie but less stringent as basically the Joker 🃏 its legacy it’s cemented with Batman there like Yin and yang ☯️ BUT in the penguin topic maybe they can get away with taking out the element of the Batman on one season or 2 but that’s not gonna last.
Batman chased the fuck out of penguin and penguin doesn't even mention him once like seriously not even a single criminal think twice before commiting any crime about baman. Its such a lazy writing batman should be a dark force in the background
Matt Reeves´s version of Gotham is absolutely perfect, even i really still think that the best version of Gotham is Tim Burton´s. Can´t wait to see this tv show and the sequel to The Batman !
Do you know the comics have actually done this before there was a story called Gotham Central and it was a Batman story from commissioner Gordon and the GCPD point of view for Batman was like in the shadows hardly ever seen he was still taking down the bad guys but he was hardly seen in that story arc and it was just from the opinions and the perspective of the GCPD really good book really good storyline
My question is is they are allowed yo use batman if they really wanted to. The show Gotham literally how to fight for Batman to have a bat logo on his chest for the final, Arrow was planed to be a Batman show but they weren't allowed to use Batman, so I'm just curious if they're allowed to use Batman
I understand the lack of Batman in the show, ofc he can't be everywhere and it's better that way imo. That would be 4-5 years without seeing him return as Batman… almost HALF (if not half) a DECADE… we could really use some in between appetizers to tide us over until then… if only.
Like 9/11 there are so many heros but when people who experienced 9/11 when it happened they would say similar stuff to what they're saying in the show most the time about how its tragic and how many people have been lost to it. I think we will get a brief mention of him eventually or atleast a little tease of him it just won't be Robert Pattinson it'll be a shot of his boots or cape or a shot of the bat signal to show that the batman is back now
@@alexholt6810everyone is just trying to survive
Do what ever you want just keep bringing good stuff
It’s called the penguin. Not the batman. Im so glad they didn’t go down the easy route and put a bunch of fan service
Maybe
Vic: "Oz do you think we'll be okay doing all these business out in the open with the batman lurking"?
Criminals: "boss how about that crazy guy in the suit beating criminals, ive heard you met him once, do you think it will be a problem for this operation?"
i dont know, they could have added something like that, but nothing at all
The penguin show is straight Fire authentic and gritty I'm locked in Matt Reeves and his team are hitting
The Reevesverse rules!!!!!!!!
Agreed 😎
Boring as hell
@@ParaplegicKeanuReeves If it’s boring, tell me how’s the state of the DCEU or the Snyderverse compared to the Reevesverse?
For sure. Love the noir detective crime feel. I don’t get how people could say it’s boring
@@jerogomezrobledobruh… What the hell does the snyderverse have to do with it??? If he doesnt like it fine…. Btw he never said the snyderverse was any good 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️( and i love both snyderverse and reevesverse and im hyped for the new DCU)
I wish we got a cameo or something. EVEN JUST like 2 people looking up and see batman up on a roof and run . You could just show the cape or something
Honestly, it’s weird that in this Batman crime saga universe, the Penguin will end up having more total screen time by the end of this series. The next two films would probably fix that by giving Batman more and Penguin less again total but that’ll be a while and that’s assuming he Mr. Reeves commits to trilogy.
He wants to do a 3rd one but some studio heads don't
Atleast its not like the spiderman Sony cinematic universe where spiderman has 0 minutes of screen time while his villains have the rest
@@milboxr9772what are you on about

We know where he is- "They think I'm hiding in the shadows but I am the shadows" 😂
He doesn’t need to be which is why these characters are incredible for standing on their own.🎉
That's a true director. He here's a building he wants to use is getting torn down and instead of worrying about wanting to use a new location, bro's first instinct is practical explosion
He's in metropolis.
i don’t really need to SEE him, i just feel like it makes sense to have the criminals at least mention his existence, considering that the first 8 minutes of the batman established him as a force to be reckoned with
Yes, after encounters with the bat in the movie, should have read at heart I've discussion how they're staying out of his radar but nothing
You guys are asking the wrong questions I wanna know about the flying Graysons
That's for the DCU
Me too
Thank you! I thought I was the only person who thought that
I wish they did show him, it would be very cool if we saw him from Penguin's perspective, this dark shadow just taking your guys one by one, they didn't even need to show his face or suit, i'd honestly just be happy with his presence in a scene alone.
Batman is helping clean up the city and he’s most likely is aware of the penguin but he’s gathering information before he makes his move.
Everybody asks where is Batman, nobody asks how is Batman
I'm glad they didn't, it allowed me to even forget this is a spinoff of Batman and see the world of crime in Gotham and somewhat sympathize with people trying to survive but being the worst humans meanwhiel
Very good episode can’t wait to see more
Batman isn't in The Penguin because he's at home! WASHING HIS TIGHTS!
Don't be silly. Batman doesn't wash his tights. He has a manservant for that.
I understood that reference.
It goes south and its like Oz is being haunted by a ghost.
i think batmans disapperance can be explained by him getting kidnapped by either hush or court of owls as both were teased in batman 1
I dont get how people dont talk about what colson said before he died…he definitely planted the seeds for the court of owls
@@MaintenexLLC I think people are looking way deeper into what he said than what was intended... but I don't blame people, I want the court of owls too. I just don't think it's going to happen, sadly
@@Dexeduswhy not
@@MaintenexLLC I just think it was too vague what colson said to mean anything more than just what it turned out to be. I'll hold my hands up if they properly tease the court of owls in The Penguin show but if they don't do it in the show we definitely wont get them in the sequel film
@@Dexedus agree
It would be awesome if there is one episode where Batman is used not shown but used in some way.
It’s much better that they’re not making it about Batman. I like the idea of being in the street level with Penguin. I feel whenever the season finale is Oz will be be so powerful in the streets that Batman will have to intervene. At that point seeing him will make sense when it gets built up to that
I love that response, it was perfect.
He says in the movie he can't be everywhere at once, but there's so much violence in the show I'm wondering wth he's doing, lol
@mentvltrillness Same I also wonder why we don't hear anything about him or Bruce Wayne.
I think
He must've suffered major injuries after the Riddler incident and is now in recovering state
I hope they come up with better explanation
I mean I LOVED the show and I'm not the guy to say Batman MUST have showed up or something like that, but I think it's a little strange not even one reference to his figure. The guy entered the Iceberg Club, scaried Oz and was seen with Falcone when he was shot. I think its fair to say "how the hell he wasnt even referenced, even on the news or type shit". Anyway, love Matt and the universe but theres no wrong in being critical.
Getting to experience Batman from the villains POV would be game changing
Love the show! I like that it is dark and it is not raining in every scene like in the Batman.
I loved the Chicago/NY fuse for Gotham may in itself describe how I've seen it all these years personally
Matt Reeves is a genius
Honestly what I felt should have happened is that with these spin off shows between each season there should be appearances of Batman but as a looming background threat. When they did the chase scene in episode 1 it would have been cool to have the Batmobile crash into the people that were chasing Oz and he gets away. Little things like that will go a long way with fans I know it.
This is such a cool concept.
Matt Point of View Reeves
FR 😂
First time I hear Matt Reeves talking, I was not expecting such a high pitch voice, lol
I think he is healing,he took a lot of damage especially towards the end so yeah,he may want to do something but his body may be in such a weak state so its better to stay put and recover.
I've watched all episode's and I was blown away Collin Farrell wants an oscar for his role.
This is the best show of 2024 imo.
great job
I hope they work Joker in at the end of the series some how so we can see Colin and Barry in a scene together!
I dont mind Batman NOT bring in the show, but for the shows universe to act like he just doesn't exist is so weird for me.
THATS EXACTLY WHAT IM SAYING
Can't wait for this
The best way I can describe it as like the joker book from 2008 where Batman is in there but he’s like almost never mentioned in the book
After all the fire movies, Matt Reeves has made I expected him to have a deep voice, not a soft, whispering voice
Thompson center is not getting torn down. It is getting renovated
Yes, feature the ruins of google without showing the brand; that way the show will remain timeless.
Of course, Matt isn't gonna reveal batman's gonna show up, but we know he's gonna appear at some point in that series. Maybe the finale.
One cameo scene. Just one ☝️
Tbh I've always preferred it this way, when it feels more like a mob/crime/thriller than a superhero show. When Batman shows up in S2, I hope it's like The Nolan Dark Knight trilogy where he is portrayed more as a vigilante who fights terrorism than a "superhero"
The bat signal at the end was enough
Matt Reeves saving DC cinematographic/series universe
I live to think he’s reanimating some of his methods and is building new and better tech to help in his crusade. Likewise, he could be getting more involved in Wayne Ent. because while the city does need a crime fighter, it also needs disaster relief and aid. Who better to find that than Gotham’s bet on Billionaire, Bruce Wayne?
I was watching The Batman last night then found out the series is out
Glad I did that
1st episode was very good and can’t wait to see the rest of them.
That time in Gotham was all about the war between Falcone/Maroni. The time of The Long Halloween. Batman would be heavily involved, and Catwoman is Falcone's illegitimate daughter, so she would be there as well.
Also, where's Gordon at?
All this just makes the fact that the Batman 2 isn’t coming out for another 2 years hurt even more
Oz had multiple interactions with him and he doesn't even get a mention as the freak in the suit etc.
Not seeing Batman ONCE in the midst of an all out gang war would just go to show he’s a terrible Batman lmao
I’m ok with the idea of him not showing up but at least light that symbol in the sky show us how feared Batman is for the underground of Gothman through the villains perspectives it would make us understand better the villains and build them further for Part 2
Havent watched the show, but i at least hope you feel his presence even if he doesnt show up, which is what they seem to be going for
At least he should be mentioned
Guys maybe Batman does do an appearance but he wants us to experience it ourselves
They aren't tearing the Thompson Center down. It's an extreme remodel
I hope Mr.Reeves do a serie about Selina in Blüdhaven (with Zoë Kravitz) next!
Batman chased the fuck out of penguin and penguin doesn't even mention him once like seriously not even a single criminal think twice before commiting any crime about baman. Its such a lazy writing batman should be a dark force in the background
Penguin has a limp from that incident and he is obviously repressing the memory of it. Typical tough guy response.
It would be cool if you were to just see him stood on a rooftop in the background
Given how much they're bringing it up. He's definitely making an appearance 😂
But, I really hoped that the characters in the show would acknowledge his existence one or the other way. afraid, thinking he might be out there. even if for a small moment. would've been so effin good!
Could at least be in a news broadcast in the background or something
