Mike something I use to mark trees for cutting is a long handle walk behind spray paint marker. I just added a 1/4 inch rod that slide through a hole I put through the handle. All you need to do is start at one end or the other and touch the paint button and your length is marked without bending over. Gary.

I have noticed that you and many other people make their forecut and then make the notch cut from the top. I was taught by my dad to cut the notch out below the forecut. He had 2 reasons. (1) you didn't end up loosing board length from a big notch being cut out of the butt log,, and (2) it was a much safer way to fell a tree.. As the tree begins to fall the butt of the tree drops down into the notch and can not kick back off the backside of the stump. I noticed that Buckin Billy always under cuts his notches also.--------------------------Loren

No cord pulling over and over again until you are worn out, just squeeze the trigger. Let off and it quits while you are walking around too.

Just don't underestimate the danger factor that still exists. Though they spin slower, those have a lot of torque, and might lull some folks into thinking they are safer or almost toylike. A real good feature of the Stihl battery saw is the chain brake - stops turning quickly after releasing the trigger. Most battery electrics like the Echo don't have that.

BTW if you wrap one end of a short length of 12 or 14 g bare copper wire (IE ground from a piece of romex) around a few of the heat exchanger wires of the fridge (The metal grate usually on the back) and insert the other end up the drain hose, the wire will transfer enough heat to the tube that it won't freeze. Good to see everyone has to follow Mike’s safety rules as chainsaws are so dangerous. Love how you still mark the logs for proper cutting length, makes some of us happy to see a good stack of wood! 😁👍🏻

Gee, I guess using a 16 bar and just setting to dogs on the end and lifting to make a mark is too slow?
Maybe Mellissa need some suspenders when using the chaps? Looking sharp!

Short and sweet. I got a battery powered (Not Stihl) just because I busted up my shoulder some time back and that Farm Boss just was too hard to tug on. I used the battery powered for clean up during the winter and when I got the Wrangler stuck to clear out a path. It ran for 3 hrs on 75% charge. I will be looking at a Stihl later on but for now I put the other one in the Jeep for emergency. Lot easier on the shoulders too. Just FYI.

Chainsaw pants don't work on electric chainsaws, they are desinged for low torque high rpm 2 stroke that stall when the fibres expand, electric high torque do not stall. Jeans are about as effective.

@@OutdoorsWithTheMorgans So you are an expert - good to know, I'll let you design my next airbag for my car. Check again, current balistic nylon specs are not adequate for high torgue electic motors - you need a degree in engineering not a diploma in youtube. Do yourself a solid and recommend correct safety to people - error on the side of safety not circumstance.

I can't believe how well that saw does. How long does it take to recharge the battery? It would make a good saw for some of the pruning that I do. Keep up the good work!
