I did the at the throttle experience this past November in Spencer and it was AMAZING. Still weird to think that I had the opportunity to be the engineer when I see her. You’re going to have a great time
Great ride along. I am amazed how it appears that you had the highway all to yourself for quite a time. Love what you do Rowan. Your videos are always fun and exciting.
Thanks so much for that. I have been in the cab of 611, ridden behind in the per speed limit days......a fantastic machine that I am glad to see moving again.
This is a fun video Rowan! You had a lot of fun capturing the Norfolk & Western Railroad 611 steam engine and so did everyone else that you captured in this video. I really enjoyed everyone's enthusiasm at the sight and sounds of the 611. Thak you very much for documenting this portion of the ferry move from Spencer, North Carolina to Strassburg, Pennsylvania.
I saw on the news that it was moving through VA and was hopping I would see a video on it from you. You did not disappoint as you normally don’t. Well done sir. Thank you
Awesome video! It was great meeting you in person finally after all these years! My wife and I had fun chasing 611! I also want to apologize for the incorrect Amtrak ID before I get blasted in the comments lol. That was 95 I believe. 19 is due to Culpeper at 7:55 PM (around the time we met at Inlet Rd) so I assumed it would be 19, but to my surprise it was a Regional. Keep up the great video work! We will stay watching! #HappyFoaming! Thanks Rowan! -Terence & Emily.
Terence and Emily, it was awesome meeting both of you, I'm thankful anytime I can meet new friends! To God be the Glory, remember Jesus loves you and wants a relationship with you always, regardless of your past! Stay safe, God Bless, Happy Foaming

Dang that was really great camera work dude! Lots of really great shots with this move, especially the mirror one and the pacing shots! This video was super fun and entertaining to watch overall. 611’s a really awesome locomotive considering its streamlined look and stuff, definitely one of my favorites, so thanks a lot for sharing and have a good one man!
Hey Man, you are so lucky to have gotten some shots of The 611 Ferry Move, I wasn't able to go catch it and get it on film cause no one told me when it was leaving
Awesome video Rowan.. Incredible parallel shots of N&W611! Definitely a thing of beauty. Big thanks to everyone who had a hand in the building/restoration. Have a blast when you’re at the throttle, bro🤟🏽

Awesome! Unfortunately I live too far away to catch 611. I live in Missouri so I couldn’t see it lol. Although I did see something familiar, I caught N&W 2156 heading to the NMOT in St Louis. Awesome catch though!
Great to see you back Rowan. I must admit I do like 611 and 4014. I gather steam loco's get dragged due to the great distances they travel and 611 had an extra water tender in tow. Our steam loco's are generally allowed to operate their ferry moves without assistance
Both of those locomotives are perfectly capable of running under their own power, however PTC and the fra have other words to say about it, I explain that in tomorrow's video
@@RailfanRowan ah ok. I look forward to it. I've had the joys of driving and being what we call a second man on a Class 55 Deltic. My favourite class of diesel in the UK

Oh Dear Lord, Foamers!!!🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ Glad y’all got to see 611. Even through I wish y’all foamers would join the railroad and see what it’s really like. Great footage but some get to carry away. It’s exciting to see the joy but sometimes I just don’t understand for those who love foaming, why haven’t y’all joined up to volunteer at a Rail site or join the railroad? I have worked two rail sites and have operated a locomotive or two but I just don’t understand. Anyway glad you got footage of 611. She is on my bucket list to see before her 1472 inspection and boiler certification runs out.
I hope to see her in real life again sometime. I last saw her back in the fall of 1994 when she was on her last run up here in Ohio. Got a beautiful pull picture image of her running at speed past me. Got back to campus and saw online that NS was killing the steam program, meaning that it was the last time I'd see her. Before 2015, I never thought I'd see her running again. Still remember the trips when she went past on the long straight stretch between Bucyrus and Marion. The engineer always opened up the throttle hitting that stretch, and when they repainted all of the cars, seeing that fully matched train cruising past was a beautiful sight.
Seen the 611 Sunday when they was getting ready to leave Spencer Shops/NCTM. There was a train show at the museum and 611 was sitting beside the roundhouse with a small fire in her keeping her warm till ready to leave. I'd like to see the ferry moves done without a diesel locomotive in the consist. Just the 611 on it's own pulling a short train alone. That would be neat.
Where did you watch it in the last clip? I watched it go by near the Manassas airport. Too dark to get much good video but I got some great shots of it sitting in the yard still under steam.
Have you ever seen railroad ties in a special train car? Have you ever seen a bunch of railroad ties get replaced at once? I can`t wait to see 611 at strasburg railroad on July 10th.
