About the late Sutherland performances; those in the audience never said "poor dear, well she's trying." No, they said in wonder, "How is she doing that? "
Thanks, I could have bet on your answer, but, as we say in Italian, "trying does not hurt". I think the correspondent expression in English is: "it's worth trying/a shot".
Sublime regia e interpretazione di violetta dalla traviata 😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What an extraordinary interpretation ! This goes to show she wasn't just a cold, technical vocalist but she also dug deep into her roles !
As far as I love her singing, I find this performance rather not the best. It was a good interpretation, but I did not like the high notes
Joan Sutherland in her splendid prime...the way her final high "A' just blossoms as she crescendos...! incredible singing...
Near the end of her career...the slower vibrato works well for this aria. Still the greatest opera singer ever.
Indeed.

She was 60 here. Amazing.
Is this from a full perfomance?
Nope. That night Joan and Pavarotti sang excerpts from Lucia, Rigoletto and La Traviata. From La Traviata the last scene was performed completely.

Just act 3 from evening with her and pavarotti. They olso perform in this evening rigoletto and lucia
"Currrratevi", though 😂
Really. All this music and glorious singing...and that's what you heard.
🤪
Tragicomica...una caricatura 😂
Como comprenderas tu ridicula opinión es irrelevante, incluso me abochorna contestarla.
