She has such control of her voice . No screeching, no wavering, soft and loud tones brilliant! Miss her so much!

Three weeks from her 53rd birthday, and she sailed fearlessly through this fiendish bit of singing better than anyone else at the time.

She is utterly, utterly divine....I write this literally wiping the tears from my eyes at hearing her gorgeous, limpid, silvery voice and remembering her - happens to me every time!!

Every year that she performed at the Met from 1976 to 1991 (the years that I had subscribed to the Met) I attended her performances. During the years of her dispute with James Levine, when she did not perform at the Met, I attended her concert performances here in NYC, at Avery Fisher Theater and at Brooklyn College. After the 1979 performance at Avery Fisher Theater I had the cherished privilege of meeting her personally. That is a night that I will never forget.

Runs and trills were masterfully executed with brilliance throughout the entire aria and such drama in her expression. Pure joy to experience. Divas of this caliber are very few.

She's amazing. Her voice sounds full, radiant and expressive in this rendition. It must have been amazing to be there and be enveloped by the warmth of her sound. I love this part: 7:19 she opens up her chest voice on "Nasca il giorno, o il giorno muoia" and then she stretches her spine, lifts her chest and emits that incredible and focused high note "Sempre lieta ne’ ritrovi". Goosebumps

A model of technique. I first heard her live at Covent Garden the next year in 1980. Her Lucrezia Borgia was astonishing and well acted in an old fashioned operatic way. Her singing during the 1980s provided some of the most exciting operatic experiences of my life. Sadly this world has long gone. Producers these days seem intent on destroying most operas, even ridiculing them and most singers don’t have a clue about technique. There are a few exceptions but not many!

In the recitative, the first thing that strikes me is how clear her diction is without losing that roundness of sound. Afterwards a little less... That eleven second trill at the end of the cavatina, and the TWELVE staccato high Cs... impressive for any age.

A fine document that represents the waning years of what was great operatic tradition. The drama, pathos and musicality that she can deliver in one phrase surpasses what most singers today can do with the entire scena and tacked on histrionics.
