    The French took ev’s seriously and are the only European nation truly challenging China on price and innovation. Exciting times.

      @@JuicyJohnEV I really agree with this comment. I’m English but living in France since 2018 and previously had a Zoe, still very competitive on features if you drive around town and charge at home. Renaults can also take advantage of the cheaper (slow/22 kWh public chargers). The French government both national and local encourage the switch to electric through free parking, even free slow charging while you are parked in council owned car parks. Just a shame you cannot always get the same prices and specs in the UK as you can here.

    I’m another Megane owner. It has rather surpassed my expectations and I over time have grown to appreciate its many attributes. Some minor annoyances but nothing fundamental. However what would make the Megane more special would have been a panoramic roof as the interior is rather gloomy with its small side and rear windows.

  • @Paris__
    @Paris__ 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

    I've had my Iconic in White with Black roof for over a year now, and it's absolutely brilliant. So much better than my Tesla's. I've driven EV's for over 10 years now (mostly Tesla)
    I've driven it on long journeys throughout the UK and Europe, and when driven carefully on Eco, I get up to 311 miles range (although don't go above 57-59mph😉).
    What really helps is that, unlike almost every other EV, the Megane doesn't affect it's range when the blowers/heaters are on, as the power doesn't come out of the EV batteries. It comes out of the car's normal 12v battery (like it does on a ICE car). Only the AC does.
    You are wrong about the battery though. The 110mm battery in the Mégane is the thinnest and lightest.
    But don't forget, the Megane is one of the lightest EV's on sale (lighter than a Zoe). Helped by aluminum and Carbon Fibre construction. Only the Mini and Fiat 500 are lighter. That's the reason Renault haven't fitted a panoramic roof and powered tailgate, to save weight.
    Plus don't care about rear visability. It has a wide-angle rear view mirror camera....Brilliant!!
    Plus Google is fantastic! You cannot beat phone tech! It's the most up-to-date on the planet, constantly updated!
    Also, the Mégane displays the French Cockerel etched on the windscreen, the French Government's emblem to show that every part has been designed, supplied and manufactured in France (even down to the wiring loom)......no reliance on China! (Other manufacturers can take a leaf out of Renault's book!)

    I Have a Megane E Tech Iconi. Very nice car no issues in 18000 km. If I had to change things. 1. a 70kW battery, 2. a faster DC charger, 3. a frunk, 4. remove piano black, 5. improve induction charger, 6. more luminous inside (glass roof or use different colours). A space wagon version could be interesting

  • @pierre175

    I have this version of the Megane and I can confirm the camera resolution isn't a "very high resolution camera". It's actually quite poor even compared to my previous 2020 Mazda 3 which was miles better! Despite the heat pump, the range now, during colder months (comparing with few weeks ago) is decreasing quite rapidly. If Google Maps shows you ie 30% battery left on arrival when planning the route, at the end of it you'll be left with 25%. Love the car tho! :)

      Seems to be the main complaint with the Megane...just not a very efficient EV and sadly no real improvements on that score for the recent facelift MY25. Apart from the tiny rear window i like the exterior styling..just wish you could spec smaller wheels on the top trim and ditch the silly looking gold blade or at least make it body coloured as on other trim levels.

    Why keep mentioning the MG4? The MG is in the UK's top 5 MOST UNRELIABLE brands and models. Plus, obviously the MG is extremely cheap and nasty upon close inspection. It is massively insulting to the Renault to even be mentioned with an MG, as it is clearly built better and finished to much higher standards.

    In winter frost you cannot open the door easily, a Renault service department confirmed this when they were trying to persuade me to switch from my Austral.
    So, smaller boot, no power tailgate, no chance of matching my 700 miles per tank of fuel.
    The software is standard across the whole Renault range so not special to the Megane at all.
    Even Renault dealers are struggling to sell EV s but are selling self charging hybrids as fast as they get them.
    Oh and, why put the keycard anywhere in the car? Mine stay in my pocket at all times.

      Stay away from EV if your reference is the distance with one tank. In most case Hybrid is really a bad option and car sellers are selling lies for people afraid of EV. I have a Megane E Tech Iconic. The range is a bit in the low but I never had an issue with it travelling long distance. It could certainly be improved and Renault should look at the Chinese cars to offer more

    • @cinch
      @cinch  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the question! It's very natural when driving. But it does take some getting used to when you're reversing, because it makes objects look closer than they are. But with the other camera view on the infotainment screen, and the 360-degree above view, you soon get used to using them all collectively. The resolution is good too 🙂

    Those door handles are a big no no and a big turn off. Good luck in the cold snaps...they would be better to focus on the charging flap and have that heated like Hyundai...(optional extra pack on Ultimate trim ) i broke the charging flap on my e2008 as it had frozen over for 2 days a few years ago and i needed to charge..such a simple fix and yet Stellantis can't be bothered to implement it..if i ever go back to an EV will be getting a Hyundai Kona with normal door handles that don't freeze shut and a heated charging flap which means i can actually charge the car all year round.

    One of the best looking new cars on the road today. I would honestly put the design up there with Range Rover for exterior design. Interior is just nice, no better though. Range is poor considering the cost to buy. The MG4 is far cheaper which makes a huge difference to 'normal' folks regardless of what the motoring media would have people believe. The absolute vast majority of people that get new cars never read any sort of motoring media at all. Hence MG sells so well. The figures don't lie. I own a Citroen eC4. Got it due to price first & foremost. It's all about the monthly. Good looking car. Comfy and nice to drive. Definitely feels built to a price and Citroen themselves are shockingly bad for customer service.
