    Was at a local basketball game one night in Perth, walking back to my car with a teammate. We had Celtics jerseys on and from the shadow near a car we heard a voice say "ahhh the Celtics are in town!" We both laughed a little and looked back then Luc Longley walks into the light. Then my brain was spinning because at one point in life that was a sentence that he would have said for real. lol

    As a kid growing up in the 90's watching the GOAT MJ and the Bulls win 6 championships these were special times. When Luc won it was so awesome really helped to drive basketball.
    Great interview Luc, so good to hear your story and your experiences.

    I recently got the chance to say hello to Luke at a cafe when he was down here recharging his batteries. I grew up watching the bulls and I had actually been watching it play with my two sons. He took the time to say hello to my partner and I and we had a chat about basketball and life just for a few minutes he was such a nice guy and his wife was lovely as well thank you Luke for doing this interview so more Australians could get to know you you are an icon of the sport. But most of all he's just a fantastic person

    Luc would definitely have a place in today's NBA as a stretch 5, pick n pop, rebounder, screener, post-passer, shot blocker....etc.
    His skill set was top shelf and under-rated

    • @blackcat4859
      @blackcat4859 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I agree. I like how he pointed out the difference between his playing style in he 90's and how he would have payed today. This is something that gets lost on American sports talk shows. They try to plug a player from a different era in today's game and see if he would succeed while how you should look at it is precisely how Luc does. Look at the broader skill-set and see if that matches today's game.

    • @ebogar42
      @ebogar42 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@blackcat4859 You need less skill in todays NBA to play. All you have to do these days is shoot a 3 and dribble decently. You don't need a backdown shot anymore. Don't need to play man defense, all lazy zones these days. Don't have to play good defense, or grab rebounds on offense. Don't have to take hook shots. Don't have to make lay ups or two pointers. Dribble and shooting 3s is all you need to dominate.

    Brilliant interview. Something worth noting on the 'stardom' of the Bulls in that era, is probably to do with the telecasts that were available to us in the 90's. It was pretty a much a given that a Bulls game would be shown via Channel 10. So we as basketball fans were certainly funneled into following Jordan and the Bulls as that's what was shown - I have no complaints! It made me a Bulls fan, and a massive Scottie Pippen fan. Worth considering though.

  • @rcasagranda
    @rcasagranda ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What a great guy to watch speaking and to see how he keeps it real about what he experienced with the Bulls, he was the perfect fit for that team, looking back not many centers would be as successful in that role back then as he was. At the time I didn't think much of him, but looking back he was really good at shooting the ball midrange (not many centers were), he was a decent rebounder and a great passer for a big man! Go Luc, you got a Fan here in Ireland as well!
