    Beethoven falls asleep while writing Fur Elise, and has a nightmare where shadowy monsters attack him and the song itself becomes an horrifying dubstep/trap/hardstyle banger.

      @@xxmilannathanxx Err...you DO realize that Fur Elise was by Beethoven, right?
      Each to their own I guess, but this is much more enjoyable, to me at least, that the original. Props to Beethoven for the beautiful theme, and to Lionel for the arrangement. I do wish this had been included in the Epic Fur Elise that MusicalBasics released a while back, however.

  • @talknight2
    @talknight2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2385

    Hate to tell you but halfway through writing Fur Elise, he found out Elise was actually already engaged to someone else, so out of spite he made the end of the song so difficult Elise would never manage to learn to play it.

      @@whyitsnoneofyourbusiness3607 yeah this is pretty well documented. she was not a very skilled pianist, that's why the begining of the piece is so easy to play. And there's a pretty sharp turn in it when it becomes kind of hard to play all of a sudden :D

    • @flatblack7406
      @flatblack7406 3 ปีที่แล้ว +63

      Um, no-one has ever been able to work out who the "Elise" was in the title. No historical records of her.

    • @talknight2
      @talknight2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +318

      @@flatblack7406 Elisabeth Roeckel, known to her friends as Elise, was the younger sister of Joseph Roeckel, a singer who performed in Beethoven’s opera Fidelio. She wrote letters documenting her flirtatious relationship with the composer when she was younger, and remained close to him until his death in 1827.
      The woman most people believe to be Elise, however, has long been Austrian singer and performer Therese Malfatti. It’s thought that Beethoven proposed to Malfatti around 1810, and she either rejected him outright or accepted and changed her mind shortly thereafter. If that’s the case, why would it be named “Für Elise” instead of “Für Therese”? The argument is that it was "Für Therese"-and somewhere over the years, the name was mistranslated. Another fact working in Malfatti’s favor: The original manuscript in Beethoven’s hand was found in her possessions after her death, apparently labeled “Für Therese.” It has since gone missing, resulting in a classical music mystery for the ages.

    • @AK-jt7kh
      @AK-jt7kh 3 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      I don’t think Fur Elise is dramatically different in skill level while you’re playing it...or is there something I’m missing here? Is the arrangement we all play today not like the original?
      There are things that are super hard to play and I feel like with his skill, if Beethoven really wanted to he could have made the ending incredibly difficult. As it stands, if there is a difference, it’s not much of one. That doesn’t seem like spite to me.
      In any case, Moonlight Sonata also increases in complexity. I think there aren’t a lot of songs in the classical genre that don’t, because of the way classical music is written to build on itself and take detours.
      I think this might be a “real rumor” if that makes any sense? But I don’t think it’s actually true.

    The arrangement is great.
    The story of 'Fur Elise', though, is that Beethoven wrote it for one of his students that he was infatuated with but was a terrible player. He made a simple but seemingly complicated piece for her to play. Then one day he found out she was engaged and in his anger added to the composition to make it extremely complicated. Beethoven was super petty but I dig it.

    It was the early 1800s. Some were near Vienna in a dimly lited room with a single candle. Beethoven slouching over a desk scribbles notes on a faded parchment. Thinking of a particular Elise, he writes each note with love and tenderment. He plans to show her this song and ask her out she will surely love it. But tonight, something seems weird the shadows are darker than usual. His vision starts to blur, losing consciousness, he slumps over at his desk. The candle flame is no more. The real world fades as he enters into a dream world. Dazed, he finds himself in a dark forest. In the distance, he sees an army of shadowy creatures guarding a prisoner. He creeps closer and sees the prisoner's face. "Elise, do not despair. I shall free you," he whispers. Elise sinks down the shackles binding her hands, and her feet clatter against the cage bars. The sound startles the creatures they look around. One sees Beethoven and bears its long blood-stained fangs. Beethoven barleys doges the first beast tumbling to the ground. Somehow lightning shoots out of his fingers, striking the animal attacking him, but when he kills one, three more leap at him, clawing viciously. There are hundreds of them. His energy quickly depletes suddenly. Another beast pounces on him and rips his body apart.
    "Noo, my precious, Elise," his soul cries out as he feels his body being mercifully eaten. She was the only girl who gave him a chance after years of other girls laughing at his earnest proposals. The girls always rejected him in favor of a taller, wealthier suitor. Still, Elise didn't care for that, and she was the most beautiful of all. Every other woman rejected him, made him feel small, and found his love a nuisance. Elise was the only one who noticed him. the one he promised to always protect, care for, and love for eternity. His spirit tingles the electricity within its building, and Beethoven feels his body coming back to life. He leaps straight into the mass of shadowy beasts "im still here," he roars. His ferocity shocks the creatures. Disorganized, they're overpowered quickly by his attacks. Beethoven's lightning infuses with more power than he ever imagined. Killing whoever they hit, he takes great pleasure in the shock on their faces as he destroys 3,4,5 beasts at once mercifully. A pack of them retreats desperately, trying to escape his lightning. he keeps advancing towards Elise's cage. Suddenly the most fantastic brute their leader leaps out at him. It's more vicious than 10 smaller beasts combined. He pins Beethoven to the ground and growls, "give up, you pathetic wretch. No one will ever love you," the leader snarls pinning him to the ground. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees Elise watching the battle with desperate eyes, "I may have given up on every girl in the past, but I won't give up on you," he cries.
    Mustering all his strength, an explosion of lightning radiates from him, slaughtering them all. He free's Elise and takes her in his arms. "I love you," said Beethoven. " Me to," Elise whispered weakly. Just as their lips were about to touch, her body limps as she falls to the ground, lifeless. "Elise nooo," Beethoven screams as she fades away. Just as despair crushes him, he wakes up in a cold sweat, eyes wide open. Knowing what he must do, he must see Elise.
    TO BE CONTINUED

      Not to be that prick, but Fur Elise is not a beginner piano piece.
      It is arguably harder to play Fur Elise on a technical level then this dubstep version, as the dubstep drowns out enough of the playing that there is no need for dynamics or finger control, just jumping around with some solid chords and octaves...

    Incredible. Beethoven himself would be brought to tears knowing something so incredible was made in tribute and inspired by his work.

    That story was pretty good! It was really sad at the end, especially when I saw the story of Moonlight Sonata Nightmare.
