- This video segment featuring the legendary David Allan Coe along with The Tennessee Hat Band is from a June 1975 South Carolina concert performance. Since the song was also released in June 1975, perhaps this was one of the first public performances of the Coe country classic!

I'm in South Carolina but were not at this show at Thunderbird in Florence SC. I think the best country song ever sung and was in Florence SC in 1975. The Thunderbird in the day was the party spot for the nascar drivers during Darlington 500 week and I'm a guessing why the great one played their that one night. Us folks in SC are proud that he did and Thunderbird is still open.....

Wow. There are a few great DAC clips from the 70s(although i wish there were more), but I'm sure this really represents what his concerts were like in that era.. They captured the essence of the man, right here. Plus, I'm from South Carolina.

When did David put the other verse in the song? Later? Goes, "I heard my name a few times in your phone book and I've seen it on signs where I played, but the only time I know I'll hear David Allan Coe is when Jesus has his final judgment day..." At what point in time was that verse included in the song?
That line is in the original recording of course. I believe David omits it just to save time in live performances. Although, I have heard David since that verse live on bootlegs as well as concerts I have been to.
