My first ever holiday was in Littlehampton in 1958 when my Dad pushed me in my pram to Brookside Caravan Park in Lyminster.
Many happy holidays followed that (in Littlehampton) it was 'our main place to go' in my early years.
We used to visit Climping beach, Arundel, Amberley, Worthing and our family members in Storrington and Rackham to.

P.S. My Dad pushed my pram from Littlehampton Railway Station to Lyminster - not from Merstham in Surrey - where we lived at that time - LOL!...

Sometimes with extensive beaches, the tide comes in faster than walking pace and people DROWN,. I take it, you survived.

My father as a little boy living in Wandsworth in the war times, use to travel to Litylehampton for the day or weekend, that round lake with the boats to hire on it was there even then , I enjoyed days out there too as a child in the late 60s 70s.

I know Actor/Comedian Ronnie Barker lived in Littlehampton for some years after enjoying his family holidays there.
I don't know if it's fact but apparently he may have got the idea for the series 'Open All Hours' at Littlehampton.
Shop assistant 'Granville' was said to be named after Granville (Road?) which runs parallel with the coastline between the beach and the town.
I like to believe this is true but I'm not certain that it is...

Thank you Seth - I shall look for that plaque when I am next in Littlehampton - I like that kind of history.
I have a large collection of postcards of Littlehampton from around 1900 onwards.
Buster Merryfield - was he the the one with the big white beard in OFAH and took the role after the sad passing of the original Grandad?
If it is him - he used to be Bank Manager of Nat West Bank in Thames Ditton before he went into acting later in life.
I know this because my ex wife was PA to the Bank Manager of Nat West at the nearby New Malden in Surrey.
Interesting to hear that he lived in East Preston - very posh that area isn't it.
Thanks again for the information - very interesting...

      @Seth Newman
      P.S.
Apparently Ronnie Barker used to stay at a B&B on the South Terrace at Littlehampton.
He would watch his family from the window crossing the green to the beach for fear of being recognised and drawing unwanted attention to them....

    Thanks Richard, another super video.
I don’t think the tide goes out quite so far at Goring, or at least
it didn’t used to back in the sixties and early seventies, when I lived there.
I recall hunting for crabs in rock pools and loads of seaweed, which used to pong a bit.
Would be fantastic if you could take a walk around Goring some time,
perhaps taking in Ilex Way, Goring Hall, the Court House and Goring Church.
Worth checking out the Catholic church too, just past the library, with the Michael Angelo
ceiling. And perhaps the beach at Goring Gap! Oh, the memories!

When the tide comes in the water must get warm as it passes over the large expanse of beach sand. Must be delightful for a dip.

Lovely. I spent many happy holidays in Littlehampton with my parents in the 60s. Later on we all moved to Broadstairs in Kent (living in Somerset at the moment but hope to live back in kent soon). Broadstairs is a jewel with seven beautiful bays. Don't know if you have featured it yet? Have only just discovered your videos and love them.

"Worth exploring , do come to England" That phrase sounds very nice. I believe it highlights the importance of the place you visited and makes your video sound like it's promoting tourism which could persuade more people to share it .

I wonder where the tide goes out the furthest in the UK.

    CHANGING PLACES (verse3 of 3)
Long after we have upped and gone
    Our new world challenges unlearned
Sea level rise may signal then
The final point of no return
When fast destructive tides run deep
    In some brave future century
What we have sown they will reap
    At plucky Pulborough-on-Sea. JB15
