- This was a fun build, blade is w1 tool steel, with black g10 and bronze spacers, and a stabilized curly willow handle. This one is about a 8" blade and cuts well for its size. A little more manageable than my normal choppers which usually have a 10-15" blade.

Awesome job. Forge On. Keep forge lit. Keep Making. God bless.
Thank you!
Beautiful forging and lines on that knife! That's a dandy!
Thank you!
You have superior skills to these hammer/press smiths. Much respects.
I love my Nimba Titan anvil! Your work is looking great man!
Thanks!
Man, as a new bladesmith, I'd kill to have your setup
I had to watch this video because of the curly willow. I took down one such tree a couple years ago and have a second one to take down this fall. I will have to cut the wood into drying blanks then stack flat for drying. Thanks!
Beautiful knife, fabulous video!
Kiitos
i still suk at forging i need alot of practice your skills are stellar Liam that knife came out great have a good 1 Mark
Thank you Mark!
thank you so much for making this video! I have been looking for a good video before I start making knives. every other video showed people with forging hammers and presses. you have some real skills with a hand hammer!
Glad you found it helpful! Thank you!
It’s awesome knife from Thailand
Thank you!
Wonderful knife and video, Liam. W1 is more forgiving since it is a water -hardening steel, but I, too harden it in oil. Thanks , brother.
Thanks! I think water is nice on these thick knives that don’t harden much otherwise, I should probably just get some parks 50
Beautifull knife!
Thank you!
Man must take a lot of practice to be able to keep things so even and proportioned
lots of practice haha
Great work dude. 😃😃
Thank you!
Excellent forging bro!!👌🏻💪🏻
Thank you!
wonderful power knife-congratulations
Thanks!
Прекрасный нож .
UMA FACA DE RESPEITO LIAM, PARABENS, BRUT FORJE LINDA.
probably could use a bit less epoxy hahaha thanks for the video it was super helpful!
Great work Liam! I forget how hard forging is when you don't have a press lol. Never success with water quench- nicely done!
Thank you! The other knives I’ve water quenched have mostly cracked but this one was nice and thick. Blade got fully hard too which is nice, quenching in AAA I need to grind more bevels first and only the edge gets hard
@@LiamJPenn I've tried to water quench only very thin knives- maybe this caused the cracks (yeah, mine cracked too). Anyway, this is very cool integral Bro! Nicely done :)
@@LiamJPennyou can usually find round stock of 52100 various places.
If you want to do integrals thats a great option since the hardenability is a little higher. Still needs a decently fast quench, but parks aaa will likely work.
Fantastic 👍
Thank you!
nice
Thanks!
what is the protecting face mask that you are using during grinding ? thanks
Love that file guide, where did you get it?
It’s the big one from riverside machine with long bolts. It’s the best one I’ve used
Nice job.how much that chef nife.
👏👏👏👏👏🤜🤛
Where did you get that guillotine tool from? It looks super helpful.
I made it, doesn’t need to be anything fancy, just has to line up and be strong
@@LiamJPenn I was hoping you wouldn't say that🤣😅🤣
Where do you get your bandsaw blades from? Mine are a little wide for most of the work I do.
they are olson blades from a place here, .375" wide, 4tpi. Works well, but I havent tried any other brands. I don't cut any g10 or metal on this blade
Beautiful work! what diameter is the initial bar?? Thanks
1.25” round
Thanks!!@@LiamJPenn
