Great late April Fools joke Marcus! But I would really love a real review talking about what a cinematic, masterpiece of an experience this movie is with its flawless, water-flowing editing, enthralling and rich music and one of the greatest performances from Sir Leto, who has now starred in a masterpiece in both marvel and DC
Honestly this whole video was hilarious. Marcus was soo committed to playing out the joke, I wouldn't even be surprised if he decides to not release a follow up actually review, not that the movie actually needs one as the pure quality is so apparent. Like no review could ever hold up to the experience of watching this masterpiece on the wide screen
The thing with Andrew Garfield is, I'm pretty sure he won't do TASM 3 unless it's good. He's a fan who knows what's good and what isn't. Man's too critically acclaimed at this point to accept a movie that he'd hate. And because he's a fan he'll know a good Spider-man movie from a bad one.
I think that's the problem Sony is going to have with Keaton too Keaton is doing this for fun he doesn't need the paycheck and he's not going to be a main character in a bad movie so if they send him a garbage script he'll turn it down
@@rudeboishrek2927 Totally agree, same with most of the others actually, like Jared Harris for example. I'm just happy they're far enough into the business/craft/popularity that it's probably not going to effect future role possibilities^^
Tbf, Ryan Reynolds was in a bad Marvel (X-Men Origins) and DC (Green Lantern) movie… but came back swinging with Deadpool (Marvel). I’m not saying the same will happen for Jared Leto, but you never know…
Morbius is the best thing to happen to cinema since The Godfather. It’s honestly a perfect movie that only comes once, maybe twice in a generation. One hundred years from now film schools will have entire courses dedicated to analyzing the genius of Morbius. We are truly witnessing film history. Next year Morbius is going to win literally every Oscar category, even the ones it doesn’t qualify for, it’s just THAT good.
Actually, Morbius is predicted to win every award category in every award show. As a matter of fact, they might combine all of the award shows together and collectively rename them The Morbius Awards.
A friend of mine went to see this and when I asked him how it was he said "It's basically just a big shrug" I later watched it for myself and I have to agree. It tries to set itself up as something ground-breaking and legendary when in reality its about as original as a loaf of bread.
"Sony wants to keep making movies about characters that eat people. I'm gonna need them to stop making the characters good guys that go on PG-13 adventures." you'd think that it would be obvious that character who eats people + PG-13 movie + they're somehow a good guy now??? is a bad combination but apparently Sony is like "what a great idea"
Sony is the significant other who knows they don’t deserve you but won’t let anyone else have to treat you better. Just give all the characters to marvel please smh….
Kinda depressing that Jared Harris is just known to some people as "the Chernobyl guy". He's an amazing actor who's been in some great roles, especially as Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes.
I know him as 2 very iconic roles. Lane pryce from madmen ( my favorite show of all time ) and the news reporter from mr deeds who had this legendary line “I’m gonna go home and squeeze my girlfriends big fake boobs”
Outside of people who read the comics and people who watched the Spider-Man animated series in the 90s (where he was a strangely important character and appeared in a decent number of episodes) I'm not sure how many people even knew he existed before this movie.

Fun fact: tyrese did all of his marketing and promo interviews hyping up his character to have a bionic arm that gave him all these abilities and whatnot and even having a fight with morbius. And they got rid of all of it. That’s why in the trailers you see him with a weird arm but in the movie his arms are perfectly fine. Because Sony didn’t know what they wanted to do. 😒
dude wtf that actually would have made the movie more interesting, like holy shit just give us some actual super hero’s side characters so that this actually feels like a superhero movie, but noo shit felt like a generic Vampire movie. No one would probably even guess it was a superhero if they didnt know who morbius was. like really morbius is as generic as any of the Xmen side character, how tf are we supposed to give a shit about him when there are so many better superhero movies out there.
They had reshoots again and again and I honestly think that’s why the movie is so bland they kept changing everything like if you’re going to start a project be consistent
Honestly, if it wasn't for their video games department, then I'm pretty sure that SONY as a whole would have gone under a while ago and/or been bought out by someone else. This is the same movie studio that made and distributed _The Emoji Movie_ after all, and off the top of my head, I can't think of anything they've done well recently that wasn't basically linked to the MCU at this point and essentially done for them after _Spider-Man 2_ from almost 20 years ago.
You really should, it actually change my life, I mean have you seen the reviews? 200% on rotten tomatos, it sounds insane, but it's actually soo justified!
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Morbius. The conflict and charcacter development is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of classic English dramatic literature, most of the weight of the scenario will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Michael’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these scenes, to realise that they're not only humorous- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence, people who dislike Morbius truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the depth in Morbius’ quote: “I am Venom. Just kidding, I’m Dr. Michael Morbius at your service.” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Jared Leto's genius wit unfolds itself exclusively on the cinematic screens this April 1st. What fools... how I pity them.
My friend saw this movie and unironically said it was a 9/10. He wasn’t memeing or anything that’s actually what he thinks. That’s sad on so many levels.
My friend said it was the best marvel movie ever, better than infinity war, and when I asked him what he liked about it, it took him 2 minutes to come up with a response, that is just depressing,
Someone at Sony saw the MCU, and then saw Deadpool, and thought, “Oh, we can do both at the same time,” proceeding to put out an entire saga of barely passable morally-ambiguous villain-turned-antihero films. Whoever is running this has to be very high up, because if they were anything less than an executive, they would be fired by this point.
This movie changed my life. It taught me lessons on perseverance, love, compassion, heartbreak, challenge, and overcoming adversity. The themes of this movie were dynamic. The plot was intricate and kept me on the edge of my seat. This wasn't a movie. It was an experience. I highly recommend it. 10/10.
Morbius actually got me out of my coma. As I was laying in my hospital bed for four years nothing could wake me. Until one night, the nurses turned on the tv to this movie playing. I woke up from my coma, got out of my bed, and turned the tv off.
I went to go see sonic 2 yesterday and snuck into a morbus showing afterwards. I ended up leaving half way through because I was so insanely bored. Not even a free screening would keep me there
It genuinely feels the the after credits scenes were written by a desperate Sony employee who was at a bar and found a napkin and a pen. It felt like it was written in 3 minutes
The movie and the Venom movies were supposed to take place in the MCU, but you know what happened with those plans, and now we’re getting bs post credits scenes to force the Sinister Six to happen instead.
@EasterBurn His wingsuit being transported would make a little more sense, but it wasn't. The canon here is that he built one in the Morbius/Venom world. How? No clue!
@@Dave102693 As much as Sony wanted them to be in the MCU, it was never gonna take place there because Marvel Studios would never have allowed it. Thankfully
“About a quarter of the way through you’re probably going to know where this is going.” I feel like you could watch the trailer and know exactly where it’s going, scene by scene
What I like about Venom is that Tom Hardy is so exceptional at acting that you buy the character and watch it until the end even though the script is bad.
Right? Literally the best things about the Venom movies is Tom Hardy himself. If he wasn't as charismatic or as likable as he is, I'd doubt either one would make money at all. Sometimes it takes a good actor to make a bad movie seem decent ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
that has always been my biggest fear about Andrew coming back, he is the best actor to play Peter but Sony has not learned any lesson from their horrible solo films, so they would just ruin everything all over again
That's exactly why I don't want a TASM 3 I would rather have his final appearance as Spider-Man be a good one like NWH. Instead of Sony fucking him up and getting everyone to hate him again just like when TASM movies came out the writing and editing was meh/bad but everything else was pretty good.
@@DustFC Except Andrew was the best Spider-Man. You can be the worst actor in the world but as long as the story is consistent it turns out good (Tobey)
@@DustFC on no I completely agree, TASM 2 is the worst Spiderman movie and I hate it. I am more upset of what we were robbed of. Andrew Garfield is an amazing actor that understands the character of Peter Parker more than Sony ever will, and the writing of his films shows it.
@@angiea9620 I don't blame Andrew for TASM movies he is just a actor it's not like he wrote the story for the movies. You can tell he knows his shit because in NWH his deal with Marvel for coming back to play Spider-Man again was only if he wrote his own dialogue for the movie no Sony or brain dead executives writing his dialogue for him since he knows Spider-Man best.
My best friend watched “the batman” and she kinda got hooked and wanted to watched morbius cause “it looks interesting” I’ve told her so many times how it’s probably gonna be bad, I don’t have the heart to tell her how genuinely horrible it is. I haven't seen this movie yet but after watching this review I feel like this would've been the perfect opportunity to introduce Kraven The Hunter. It would only make sense that Kraven goes after him after. Just imagine how much better the movie would've been if they'd just put Kraven in the movie and we see him use his formula to fight Morbius. That way they could've introduced Kraven and he could've gotten spotlight and garnered even more interest in his movie coming out.
I think you should watch every Batman movie and spin off for your next big marathon video (I know this has nothing to do with Morbius, I just wanted to suggest it)
Y’all ever think about how the money being poured into these kinds of movies could have been used as relief for people in need? The $75 million that went into Morbius could have fed families in need for several generations.
To devil's advocate slightly: it's important to remember that a big, stupid, waste of time project like this isn't actually money 'wasted'. It doesn't vanish, it pays wages. Well, much of it is spent on marketing and main cast, but the rest goes directly into supporting thousands of peoples' careers. The creative leads didn't deserve to make money for work this bad, but everyone else - all the logistics and support roles - didn't deserve to *not* make money just because their creative leads were making them work on a bad project.
Better yet, they could've invested it in the production of more animated stuff like Into the Spiderverse(I know they're already working on 2, they could be working on more!), you know, the kind of production that feeds even more people and for a longer time than live-action movies and it actually brings innovation in the industry. But no, we need to trash 75 millions in producing sum shit with one of the creepiest, most untalented actor of the decade, that'll do -_-
@@boiledelephant Thanks for the perspective on this. It does help to think that jobs were maintained making this trash, however all of Leto's paycheck should go to help people in need.
Idk. The general viewers who actually watch those movies are LEGIT fans of them so I'm positive they actually enjoy said movies. Reviewers definitely didn't which is a weirdly consistent thing about those movies. As an avid Spiderman fan, I didn't watch Venom 2, nor Morbius.
2,500 audience ratings gives _Morbius_ a 70% while 250,000 audience ratings gave _Spider-Man (2002)_ a 67%. While the overall audience rating should be higher for _Spider-Man_ one must also look at how many people voted. 2,500 vs. 250,000 is a large gap.
You just gotta watch it a few more times. I’ll admit, after my first viewing I was a meh on it, but after seeing it twice a day every single day since it came out I can say it’s a cinemas classic!
Anyone else remember how when Morbius flies up to the roof of the building, Tyrese tells the cops to stop shooting and says "I got this." Then inexplicably gets to the roof faster than Morbius?
He also then gets arrested because one man has a gun trained on him, despite having already shown that he can easily move like smoke and literally dodge bullets. Because they wanted to have that scene in prison where Milo visits him, and that other scene where he immediately breaks out of prison and becomes wanted, and they couldn't devise a better way for him to get cornered.
1:52 this was literally the character arc in the game vampyr, except you got to choose how the story ended. Sounds like the writers copied that concept and forgot to choose which side he’d fall on
So, here's the problem with how Sony is approaching these movies. The issue is NOT that they are being made without Spiderman. I'm not even that swayed by "the villains aren't acting like villains!" arguments I see people make. There's no problem in reinterpriting a character on a different way - comics do it all the time. If Sony would just keep their grubby mits of the scripts and let the screenwriters do their jobs and DEVELOP these characters, we wouldn't be here. All they need to do is establish these villain characters like Morbius and Venom as tragic anti-heros who do what they do out of necessity rather than malice and don't even worry about Spiderman. When Daddy Disney let's you have Spiderman for the weekend, have him become the antagonist to these people because he is unwilling to view them as anything but savages. That would create a morally complex story about a paradigm hero trying to wrap his head around "monsters" who do what they do for good, as well as biological needs.
To bad no way home's spidey already had a character arc where that wouldn't happen. If they use another version of spiderman that might work. I do agree that Sony should let them develop and be able to stand out on their own.
That’s why Into The Spiderverse has been Sony’s only good movie since Raimi’s second lol. They didn’t bother trying to interfere cuz it was “animation” and “miles morales” UH OH look at that, critically acclaimed and very popular. I’m worried for the sequel that they see it’s a cash cow and they interfere with it
@@broomhilder yeah it actually sounds like a cool concept and especially seeing Spider-Man deal with the fact that just because some people do bad things doesent mean there evil and the people they kill arent really good people not an exceuse but its understandable and also remove that post credit scenes
I see your point, but I have to disagree. It's not the only issue with these movies, but it is a big issue that they are being made without Spider-Man or rather, about his rogues gallery. Some of these characters really do need him for their story to be whole. Some of them aren't that interesting on their own and trying to have them seem remotely heroic isn't that convincing because they're either selfish or monstrous. Not to mention, who will they fight? Who'll be the villains for the villains? They can't have that many before it becomes ridiculous. As for point about reinterpretations, there a fine line between a new interation of a character and the character being changed so much they might as well be a whole new and different character. Also, if they really don't worry about Spider-Man, then what's the point? Maybe a morally complex tale could have worked if they established Venom's origin with Spider-Man and they both had to deal with their animosity for each other, maybe. But if they mean nothing to each other because they don't even exist in the same universe, they might as well just stay separated cause any interaction by this point would be forced. And for monster trying to do good and fulfill biological needs, it would also help if the monster wasn't easily justified in their actions because they only kill or eat "bad" people.

What kills me in this movie is how little blood there is in any of it. Any time someone gets killed, they play the blood spurt sound effect, but nothing comes out of them.

Morbius is the best thing to happen to cinema since The Godfather. It’s honestly a perfect movie that only comes once, maybe twice in a generation. Jared Leto is gonna come on stage and slap Chris Rock and say, "KEEP MORBING MY WIFE!"
A friend of mine went to see this and when I asked him how it was he said "It's basically just a big shrug" I later watched it for myself and I have to agree. It tries to set itself up as something ground-breaking and legendary when in reality its about as original as a loaf of bread.
My mundane life has more of a plot than morbius
I wouldn’t call it a “BIG shrug” that would be to much effort, and twice the effort that the creators put making the movie.
Thats what makes this movie is so good
"Sony wants to keep making movies about characters that eat people. I'm gonna need them to stop making the characters good guys that go on PG-13 adventures." you'd think that it would be obvious that character who eats people + PG-13 movie + they're somehow a good guy now??? is a bad combination but apparently Sony is like "what a great idea"
For real. It's ridiculous. I never bought into Venom being a hero in the films because it doesn't give a damn who it eats.
In sum: They're desperately trying to hang on to the Spider-Man franchise and mucking it up because they don't know what they are doing.
Sony is the significant other who knows they don’t deserve you but won’t let anyone else have to treat you better. Just give all the characters to marvel please smh….

Dont slander morbius its peak
How could you miss the fact the the line "You wouldn't like me when I'm hungry" is clearly a reference to man's infant stages? Amateur...

Y’all ever think about how the money being poured into these kinds of movies could have been used as relief for people in need? The $75 million that went into Morbius could have fed families in need for several generations.
True, But where's the fun in helping people who actually need help? Am I right? ( Cough,Cough.)
Let them watch Morbius

Well I wish you posted this YESTERDAY!
I could get behind that 👌🏻
To bad no way home's spidey already had a character arc where that wouldn't happen.

Marcus I’ve followed you for years and I’ve respected your opinion but this ,this is too far this ATLEAST a 11/10 and you dare to slander what is WIDELY considered the best comic book movie or even movie of this generation
I seriously hope this was sarcasm
@@alexsoto9290, it’s pretty obvious what it is
Can someone fill me in as to why everyone is making this kind of sarcastic joke? Is it something about Leto specifically?
@@princeytron idk why either.
@@princeytron my guess is because some of the more recent movies Leto was in had scripts that were…questionable. I personally don’t dislike him as an actor. He’s not as garbage as people let on
When you realize Charlie’s video wasn’t an April Fools joke
i saw this on my birthday on purpose by myself at 11am as a gift to myself. it was terrible and i loved it.
Clearly reverse psychology to make theaters less full so you can go for your 27th rewatch this week...
It goes without saying that morbius is the peak of cinematography since the beginning of the information age. Absolutely incredible, i can say with certainty Morbius hasnt only brought me to tears watching it, but also changed my life.
Morbius was the greatest cinematic masterpiece I've experienced in decades! There will never be another movie to surpass Leto's greatest performance!
Too late, I already bought one morbillion tickets
The fact that it was widely released on April fools makes it funnier. Literally what a joke of a movie
Thank you so much for finally saying it Marcus. I have no clue why people really think an amazing Spider-Man 3 is a good idea. Yes Andrew has proven himself as an actor but Sony has yet to prove they can make a competent spider-man/super hero movie
spider-verse
@@grouchyjudge yeah, this is true, whenever the execs get involved the end product ends up bad, I commented just so they could clarify their point a bit more
@@grouchyjudge what about tasm 1
@@daoaem7201 I'm pretty sure Spider-verse was made by an entirely different studio under Sony's umbrella, could be wrong

This is my favourite channel on TH-cam. I makes me fucking happy. I don't care how long it takes to get a video. I have only happiness for this place.
So I fell asleep while listening to his videos as background noise. I ended up having a dream that I was with Marcus at a D&D party. He was dressed in a pink SnapBack hat, a pink durag, a pink button down shirt and chino shorts, Cripwalking with a Legend of Zelda bookbag on. It was the most bizarre and hilarious thing ever
amazing
@@enclaveenjoyer3410 Seriously. Just imagine Marcus in a frat guy outfit, but wearing a durag like 50 Cent, and Cripwalking like Snoop Dogg with a Zelda bookbag and you’ll have an understanding of the ridiculousness. It was so vivid, I thought it was real until I woke up and was like “Wait, I don’t know Marcus in real life.”
@@CIII328 Wow....
What class was he?
@@theseel2718 If you’re asking D&D class, I’m not sure. I don’t even play D&D (even though I want to learn) so I’m not sure. Which adds to the peculiar nature of it. I’m thinking “why am I here?” And then I see Marcus Cripwalking
The fact that the movie has become a meme because of how bad it is
Yeah right like I’m not gonna watch this upwards of a couple morbillion times. Very funny Marcus.
You said most of it, but also - the flying looked really goofy and bad and felt somehow like it didn't fit or make sense, despite being a stock vampire ability. I think because he just sort of akwardly floats there looking his normal pedestrian self and moves quite slowly - it reminded me of a kid waving their action figure around, pretending to make it fly.
That's a PERFECT description! I haven't seen Morbius, but every time I've seen a snippet of him in flight (like in front of the subway train) it just looked jank and dated. Now you have me thinking about the original black and white Twilight Zone when they'd have little models in the foreground, dangling on visible wires, as a special effect.
Shout out to Last Night in Soho for actually giving Matt Smith a chance to flex, unlike the Terminator movies, Rise Of Skywalker and Morbius
EDIT: Context for TROS, Matt Smith was supposed to be The Son (basically the embodiment and physical form of the Dark Side) from The Clone Wars, but was replaced in favor of Palpatine because audiences knew Palpatine more than The Son
He was in ROS? Where?!?!
@@Br-kc2jy He was supposed to be, got cut out

I recently watched Everything Everywhere all at once. And since I’m probably the only person in my city that’s seen it. I feel an urge to let other people know that’s it’s one of the best movies ever. Please watch it.
There was a point in this movie where Morbius climbs up like 30 flights of stairs in a few seconds, almost starts flying off of the roof, and then a human character, who was clearly shown to start running up the stairs at regular human speed, catches up with him in a matter of seconds. I was willing to give the movie a chance until that scene tbh
1:19 can we please stop calling Jared Harris as that guy from Chernobyl but as the best Moriarty in live action, or at least the best actor named Jared in Morbius.
Watched it three times with my friend group in suits. Best theatrical experience I’ve ever had because there was nobody else in the theater and we just acted like animals the entire time
Another certified Sony classic. Yay...
Thank you for suffering through this for us, Markie. Also, it was great working with you on the new outro! Hope you all like it!
@IntrepidTit Thank you!!!
Didn’t even mention that Morbius did a Kamehameha out of bats in the final fight. Dude did the stance and everything
Please tell me you're joking. This movie sounds hilarious.
