The main story shows the evil deeds of the main bosses, but the secret chapter shows the reverse. - Bear and Jinchi's sin was greed, but the secret chapter shows that Jinchi eventually let go of his greed in his final moment. - Lingji punishes the Rat for being a yaoguai, but the secret chapter shows that he was actually a hero fighting for the folks - Yellowbrow defied the gods but the secret chapter has Erlang also scheming to defy the Celestial Court - Spider was punishes for getting corrupted by forbidden love, yet in the secret chapter the Chicken God a High Celestial was also corrupted - Red Boy and Bull King's rebelled against the status quo, and in the secret chapter we know how much the celestials fucked their family over in the first place, completely genocided an entire race. In the bad ending, the Old Monkey heavily criticized Wukong and hoping to "discipline" the new wukong by placing the headband on him, while Pigsy defended him through and through. In the true ending the new Wukong remembered the entire journey and realized that wukong were never in the wrong in the first place, right before receiving the headband. The last moment of the game shows him getting ready to crash the celestial palace so I guess we all know where this is going.

It's truly astonishing how many people beat this game and still completely misunderstood the ending. The Wukong you play as IS Wukong. The "destined one" IS WUKONG. The one that you fight at the end is a shell of the prior Sun Wukong that he left behind to test his reincarnation before ascending. The "Destined One" is not a clone or a fake. He is Wukongs being, reincarnated with a clean slate so he can cast off the binds that the celestials placed on him in his prior life. The Wukong that you see die in the beginning of the game is no less a reincarnation than the one you play as throughout the game. The entire premise of Wukong is that he's eternal and reincarnates several times and reaches immortality several times. There's no real or fake Wukong, JUST WUKONG. The old man spells most of it out for you and you still don't get it.
In fact, the "destined one" is anyone who inherits the spirit of Wukong, including you and me in front of the screen. In the Chinese context, this is a setting that breaks the fourth wall.
I would give this game a 9.4. It really deserves it. The graphics, the variety of worlds, and the effects of the bosses are really great. Even if it is not the game of the year, it is still much better than Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok. Especially in the beginning and end of this game.
For anyone watching this and hasn't beaten the game, xqc actually beasted this game. He made it look really easy. Granted alot of bosses are a walk in the park. But there are a handful of bosses that xqc just beasts in 2 to 3 tries like its nothing. The last boss of the game has decent players stuck for 2 to 3 hours and lesser plays stuck for days.
I expected the game to be good, but definitely didn’t expect this good, we know its the best contender for GOTY by far but I don’t see western critics giving a Chinese game GOTY
What makes me a little sad is that the real Sun Wukong died and will never return, he is gone forever, even though it is noticeable that in his last breath and laughter, he enjoyed the fight with the destined one, is free at last, the new Sun Wukong is not the original and much less a resurrection, he inherited the spirit and memories of the real Sun Wukong, but he is not him, he is a new person but he is free, which will follow what Wukong left pending and go with Erlag against the heavenly court.
I think the game prioritized with the story on this one they didn't want to make the game hard enough that people can get actualy stuck and forget the story thats why they were kinda a bit inconsistent with the combat integrity

Wukong's freedom has been restricted by the band given by The Buddha when he started the journey to the west. Eventually he finished his duty and got promoted to be the Victorious Fighting Buddha (VFB), but the band was still on his head. The band is like a permanent electronic shackle thing that once Wukong done anything the Buddha, the Guanyin or Wukong's Master Tang doesnt like then the band will get shrinked to cause great pain and incapacitate the owener by casting the shrinking spell. Ironically, the band got ostensibly removed under everyone's eyes when Wukong got the title of VFB. However the band just turned to be invisible because The Buddha never trust Wukong just like the case that every superhero need to be under control. In the regular ending, the old monkey put the band on the Destined One. It's because the place or the stone where they are is actually Wukong's tomb and it need a banded-Wukong inside to keep the place exist. So you, as the Dstined One, get the band on to replace the original Wukong's shell so that the Buddha know Wukong's under control even when it's dead. In the alternative ending, you get all the original Wukong's memory (which it's the sixth relic) from Erlang's extra eye when you defeat Erlang. So the old monkey didnt put the band on you because you as The Destined One is completed with everything Wukong has. With the will you inherited from the original Wukong, you get true freedom and plan to fight against the Heaven realm again for revenge. The last long anime is all the scenes of the Journey to The West but playing backward which means you as Wukong can re-start your new destiny.
this game is awesome and considering it's their first pc/console game it's amazing what they managed to do but holy the performance is garbage on both ps5 and pc hopefully they can fix it and avoid these issues on their next game.

It's truly astonishing how many people beat this game and still completely misunderstood the ending. The Wukong you play as IS Wukong. The "destined one" IS WUKONG. The one that you fight at the end is a shell of the prior Sun Wukong that he left behind to test his reincarnation before ascending. The "Destined One" is not a clone or a fake. He is Wukongs being, reincarnated with a clean slate so he can cast off the binds that the celestials placed on him in his prior life. The Wukong that you see die in the beginning of the game is no less a reincarnation than the one you play as throughout the game. The entire premise of Wukong is that he's eternal and reincarnates several times and reaches immortality several times. There's no real or fake Wukong, JUST WUKONG. The old man spells most of it out for you and you still don't get it.
In fact, the "destined one" is anyone who inherits the spirit of Wukong, including you and me in front of the screen. In the Chinese context, this is a setting that breaks the fourth wall.

For anyone watching this and hasn't beaten the game, xqc actually beasted this game. He made it look really easy. Granted alot of bosses are a walk in the park. But there are a handful of bosses that xqc just beasts in 2 to 3 tries like its nothing. The last boss of the game has decent players stuck for 2 to 3 hours and lesser plays stuck for days.

The destined one is collecting 6 pieces of Wukong. The difference between bad and good ending is if you get the last and most important piece, Wukong's mind. The final animation is Wukong's experience in Journey to the West in a reverse order. Indicating that you are getting Wukong's memory back eventually
Wukong's freedom has been restricted by the band given by The Buddha when he started the journey to the west.
Eventually he finished his duty and got promoted to be the Victorious Fighting Buddha (VFB), but the band was still on his head.
The band is like a permanent electronic shackle thing that once Wukong done anything the Buddha, the Guanyin or Wukong's Master Tang doesnt like
then the band will get shrinked to cause great pain and incapacitate the owener by casting the shrinking spell.
Ironically, the band got ostensibly removed under everyone's eyes when Wukong got the title of VFB.
However the band just turned to be invisible because The Buddha never trust Wukong just like the case that every superhero need to be under control.
In the regular ending, the old monkey put the band on the Destined One.
It's because the place or the stone where they are is actually Wukong's tomb and it need a banded-Wukong inside to keep the place exist.
So you, as the Dstined One, get the band on to replace the original Wukong's shell so that the Buddha know Wukong's under control even when it's dead.
In the alternative ending, you get all the original Wukong's memory (which it's the sixth relic) from Erlang's extra eye when you defeat Erlang.
So the old monkey didnt put the band on you because you as The Destined One is completed with everything Wukong has.
With the will you inherited from the original Wukong, you get true freedom and plan to fight against the Heaven realm again for revenge.
The last long anime is all the scenes of the Journey to The West but playing backward which means you as Wukong can re-start your new destiny.
