    I enjoy watching these videos. Worked for Lucas Cav for 30 years and repaired hundreds of DPA pumps. This particular contamination is not just water damage. We saw this often, its more of an acidic damage ( water does not rust or stain aluminium but a fertiliser additive does) many farmers would carry extra fuel in empty AdF containers, it had a very sharp vinegar type smell. This would corrode the workings in no time and leave a brown film over everything. Very difficult to recondition a pump in this condition.

    These pumps were designed a long time ago. It was during the 50's and we all know the diesel fuels have undergone all sorts of changes. One of them was the elimination of sulfur. Sulfur was there for lubrication purposes. These pumps need lubrication and today's fuels simply do not have that in it anymore, that is, in sufficient amounts and the substitutions simply do not offer the same lubrication properties. So adding a lubricant from time to time would be advisable.

    nice job,,,,in the test room, is the test done with a prototype injector? or what the engine has...how will we measure the pressure of the transfer pump? and how will we know if the hydraulic head has lost its performance..thanks

    A tip to find out if the stop shaft is in the peg. Push the gas lever to full, it will spring back a bit, and then pull the stop lever to stop; Then the gas lever moves a bit further. If you can do that two times then it is okey.

    Good job ,thank you , my problem is simple enough , I am helping a friend with the installation of a new power unit in his boat ,anyway we needed a slightly bigger hole in the throttle arm and couldn't drill it in its current spot so I took it off ,now I have no throttle after reattachment, do have to take it apart to fix it..??

      I'm not sure I understand exactly but yea I would examine it and take it back off if needed, if the hole placement is wrong or throttle arm in the wrong position that would cause no throttle.. Hard to say would need to be there!

      Too late to the party now, but for future reference to others. If you only removed the throttle arm itself, the shaft probably slid down inside a little, and you didn't notice. The shaft and arm are keyed. If you didn't key those together, and just tightened the nut down on the arm out of key, you would lose your throttle. (and surprised if the engine would even run at all) Nothing internal would have become disconnected to warrant disassembly.

    In your video, what is that line that is to the left of the CAV, is it supposed to be a line that pumps fuel up and to the injectors and tee's and goes to the tank, I am getting fuel from the tank and to the injectors but nothing going back thru this line and I am thinking that is where my blockage must be? I am troubleshooting my tractor and no fuel is moving from that port and all the rest are bleed and it will not start?

    Does a defect in the diesel pump cause a weakness in the traction or cultivation torque? I hope for an accurate answer from anyone who is an expert in these matters. I have a Massey Ferguson 35 agricultural tractor when plowing, its torque weakens. What is the solution?

    Hi, may you can help me out - i have the almost the same injection pump in an mf
    tractor 362. The problem is that the fuel comes out only at one high
    pressure pipe at cylinder 2 (beginning in the front). No matter if i
    vent with the hand pump or by the starter motor. Shut down valve is not
    stuck but no matter how it is adjusted (run or stop), fuel comes out
    only at high pressure pipe no 2?! May you can give me some tips to
    figure out the issue.

      Just demounted the end-plate and recognized that the vane pump isn´t rotating at all - the shaft, when looking trough the covered opening at the front side, is turning. Something at the distripution shaft is broken either loose. Worth for repair?

    At 4:40 and 15:30 No need whatsoever to loosen that nut on the governor plate to release the throttle cam. And note they didn't fire it up afterward, because if there was that much rust in the valve, I can only imagine what the pump itself looked like.

    can you run the the injector without the shut down mechaism eg leaving it out
    also the large spring setting which hole should they go in thank you inadavance

    I have a Massey Ferguson 35 1963. problem is it starts ok takes off ok but then goes to lack of power, and throws black smoke, any idea on what the problem is,

      Edward tracktor have a lot of fuel , but not have air enough. Check the air filter and all air sistem .

    Fixinthatup. I have same injector pump as this on my 50b Massey. It ran then cut out. Then I fiddled and got it running again then it cut out. Could this video be the problem?? I have fuel to the pump but nothing out of it?? Thanks

    I wish mine was as simple as a stuck metering valve. I've had everything apart and still can't figure out why I can't get fuel out the injection ports.

      List out the common problems you don't have so people can help you diagnose?
      - Stuck metering valve?
      - Tab broke on Spring (piston dropped) in backing plate on transfer pump?
      - Worn cam ring?
      - issue with advance mechanism?
      - Transfer pump blades worn?
      Etc. Etc.
      Have you replaced any components?
      Any issues with timing etc.?

      @@BackyardMechCon I got it all solved since then. For whatever reason, I couldn't get it to prime up. I finally force fed it with an electric fuel pump, and it finally took a prime. If I were to do it all over again, I'd bench bleed the whole thing before installing.

      I'm sorry to here that, I just got a 35x and it doesn't run that great and it was leaking fuel and someone messed with the pump, it does not have the original code on the pump

    I'm trying to bleed the air on the 240 I've gotten all the way to the vent plugs (turns over once then clicks) I can't reach the three union injector nuts do I need to remove the hood. thanks.

      On the AD3.152 it might be best to skip the number three injector pipe and only do the #1 and #2. I'm guessing that the 240 has the same type of fuel tank as the 135, that will be in the way.
