Great review. Thank you for mentioning the right power cable. A lot of people do not understand the importance of that. Thicker cable means the current will run through it without so much of a voltage drop which will protect the motor.
Thank you for watching. Yes you could probably even go with a 10 gauge cord. Even though it is costly. The mower may run better. I used a 12 gauge 100ft and it does the job.
Over the years I have had two electric corded mowers and they both worked great. After the first two mowers I gave a gas mower a try as I moved to a house with a much larger lawn which made it difficult to manage a long extension cord. Since then I have moved to a house with a very small lawn and I have just decided to buy another corded mower. I decided to go with a Greenworks 12 amp 20 " corded model. I'm getting a bit tired of using my gas mower as it can be a bit hard to start sometimes and needs some TLC. A corded mower is also a good option if my wife needs to use it. Thank you for the video.
I was getting a little nervous. I just ordered one of these and then went back and saw some distressing reviews. You put my mind at ease. I'll be posting an unboxing and review vid as soon as it comes in. Thanks for this video.
@@techtidbits7594 I hope so too. I have an old battery operated electric mower which I loved, but the batteries are worn out and it's just easier to buy a new mower. Although I'm not a fan of the cord it's a guarantee I can mow without waiting for batteries to recharge.
@@sunburntattic54gamingchann83 It's still going, I mow the grass about every two weeks. It isn't as powerful as a gas mower and doesn't cut nearly as good as a more powerful mower. And you have to fool with the cord which can be annoying. Those are the only negative things I've experienced. Otherwise it works fine. Starts right up, no maintenance aside from sharpening the blade, no fumes, no hazardous chemicals to deal with, cheaper than a gas mower, more environmentally friendly. And with the current high price gasoline, it is a bonus that it is electric.
Mine is somewhere between eight and ten years old. Mows wonderful. Buy it you will not be sorry. Just don't use a 16 gauge cord, it is to light and starves the motor for electricity. And the motor will burn up. Use minimum 14 gauge, 12 is even better. Remember the larger the number the thinner the cord.@@sunburntattic54gamingchann83
Thanks for making this video! I really appreciate you taking the time to show the mower in action, as opposed to just talking about it or using graphics. It was helpful to me, since Walmart has this model on sale right now for $134 and I’m seriously considering it.
@@techtidbits7594 I bought one and used it a couple times, but unfortunately the motor quit and it started smoking when I used it yesterday on normal length grass. (Not dense, not too long, not wet) I contacted Greenworks and they left me on hold so long I gave up and returned it to the store for a refund.
Let me give you a tip. Hold the cord in your left hand and push the mower with your right. Don't travel the full length of your yard as you do with a gas mower but instead I mow in short push forward pull back on the same strip and I mow like that the full width then I move up and do another section. By doing that it is much easier to manage the cord.
Nice video. That said, I've had 2 Sun Joe mowers (Model 403E) with 13amps and wow, I have beat the holy heck out of them with cutting downed branches, bamboo as thick as my thumb, weeds, etc and their power is amazing and one gets a nice bag too. It's a rear bagger and if you don't want to bag, take it off. This Greenworks looks good, but for the same money, Sun Joe is my go to mower.
Yeah this mower has been working well for a year now. I converted it from corded to a battery mower (see my other video). And it's been working fine like that too.
Hello Tech Tidbits Thanks for your review. I live in Canada and it looks like they may not be available until Spring 2023. Now that you have had this unit for a while now are there any comments about the 25012 good or bad? Thanks
It's not as powerful as a gas mower, but powerful enough to cut my yard no problem. I think I have a 1/4 acre yard for reference. I haven't had any problems with it. It starts right up every time. See if you can get a used one on Amazon, you may be able to save a few dollars. I also have a video showing how to convert it to battery powered, if you are interested in that.

@@techtidbits7594 Yes, that is what I used as well. Never had any overheating either.
I had gas powered mowers for years, just got a corded mower and I love it. Always starts!
Glad to hear it's working out for you!

I'm glad the video was helpful for you. The lawnmower is still going, hopefully it will last a long time.

How is your lawn mower doing thinking about buying one

Thanks for watching the video. Having a cord is a bit of a pain, but you can adapt to it.

Can I attach a high lift blade?
I'm not sure, what is a high lift blade? I mean you can adjust the height of blade using the lever on the mower
@@techtidbits7594 What's the height range? I just thru out a mower that had six adjustments from 1" to 6", which I found to be ideal.
I’m about to buy one from a neighbor after watching this
It still works good for me
Can you get a power station and hack it to a cordless mower?
Not sure, it would have to provide 12 amps of power continuously
I have one and the cord is ANNOYING.. get cordless
See my video on how to adapt to using a battery with it.
Corded is suck
