I think we can all appreciate Witwer's devotion to his roles. Him bringing the air of malice and insanity to Maul is akin to Mark Hamil bringing the Joker to life. Both are very fine actors.

And I thought the scream ALONE in the episode was enough to send chills down my spine! Sam Witwer is amazing! How he is able to summon that much hatred just for that moment of acting is beyond amazing! He is, without a doubt, the BEST Maul!!

No but honestly a very messed up fact is a lot of these guys manage to pull stuff off like this thinking about themselves or their mistakes or regrets. I myself can’t just get that mad on cue lol. I’ve only ever gotten that mad in extreme situations. i.e my sister getting beat up by her boyfriend and almost getting mugged one time. Takes a certain type of energy to be that mad at nothing. This is the closest representation of what a true force scream looks and feels like.
Sam Witwer acts with passion in everything he does. Seriously even his small cameo in Dexter sent chills down my spine.

He didn't destroy his throat. He's got solid technique and no doubt could keep that up for hours on end.
@@Saiku Nah, not even with the right technique can you repeat stuff like that for hours, without feeling it. Even guys like Tatasciore and Dimaggio have spoken on how stuff like videogame VO's are hard as balls because there's so many lines and variations to do.
@@Khazandar As someone who's been doing deathcore vocals since 2007 I disagree. Like any muscle, it will get sore after extended use, but a couple hours in the booth every day aint a big deal. Im sure there are many instances when a voice actor's at their limit but are being pushed to keep at it but any vocalist or voice actor should prioritize taking care of their voice and know when to call it for the day to prevent damage. Most voice actors dont learn or need to learn to do harsh metal techniques, but when done right its actually not damaging to your voice even for long periods of use.

He doesn't know how blessed he is. He played two apprentices in star wars. Got his face mapped in the former and is part of old canon, but can still work on new projects as Darth Maul. He's a talented actor, wish he had a "Force Unleashed" movie. He's still in good shape too!

It's crazy how much effort he puts in it. Maul in the clone wars and rebels is easily the best written and one of the best acted star wars Characters period
He truly is awesome, the GOAT. The only thing that made me a bit said is when I looked more deep into his character. The only motive, all he does, all his actions, it's all fueled by his burning hatred for Kenobi. It makes the character seem a bit shallow after all.
But then again, all Sith just had their lost for power as their fuel so who am I to judge.
@@petrpecenkaml.9755 I think that the reason he is so obsessed with killing Obi-Wan is because he spend many years alone in a cave, half of his body gone. I would say because of the trauma and constant reminder of what happened to him and who was to blame for it (also being isolated and no good or water etc) broke his mind and created the hatred. I think at one point Maul said that his hatred towards Obi-Wan kept him alive all the years? There is probably a better reason but that is what I think happened.
This scene is iconic. There is desperation, anger, fear, and determination all in a few lines.
The scream is chilling because it shows just how unbalanced and focused on his prey he has become. Ahab hunting his whale.

I’ve always loved how Sam Witwer makes his anger feel intense, whether if it’s Maul or Starkiller, so badass.
One thing I love about Voice Actors more than actual actors is the voice actors are much better at showing the emotions via voice, once again proving you don’t need a face to tell someone your pissed, happy or sad

I really appreciate these kinds of performances, they're probably some of the most physically taxing to give because a VA only has so many screams in them in one day before they blow their voice out.
As an aspiring voice actor myself, that scream is...amazing beyond words. It's tremendous and speaks volumes on passion and power, and I hold nothing but utmost respect and admiration for Sam. You sir, are the type of person I wish to even achieve a tenth of the success.
If you haven’t seen it already, look up the battlefield 1 german voice actors and how they got into the zone for yelling their lines.
Sam Witwer's screams are so damn good, I remember taking damage in The Force Unleashed and his little scream sounded so damn real, only time I've taken time to appreciate a voice actor based purely off the taking damage sound.

This literally gives me goosebumps. The conflict that's been building up for so long. Since the 1st SW film I've seen all the way through Clone Wars and it's end in Rebels gives me chills every time. Maul's lost and broken presence in Rebels might be my favourite thing about Canon
