Quite a few rules mistakes in here. Palantir was played when Saruman wasn't in play (which maybe caused a delayed gandalf and changed the whole course of the game), there and back again was used to move companions, can only be used to separate. Daring defiance used multiple times while Gandy was shining, which also isn't possible. Will seemd to be declaring a companion to cancel when using DD, which isn't how it works, its ALL companion leadership (which is why you can't use it if Gandy is shining).

Wow didn't realise there were that many! Will try and bear those kinds of errors in mind in future videos - clearly missed a bunch in this one.

Hey Will here! First of all, want to say sorry to GenericPie for that! In the future I'll watch my games back, I was fired up from the madness right after the game when I sent it to him. Can't believe I didn't notice Palantir, I tend to mostly trust my opponents and fly in autopilot at the start of a game, and even after missing it when it was played, I think I saw Palantir, saw my will, and killed it without thinking at the start of that next turn. DD is a great point, I don't go for FPMV very often so rarely play it for that effect but I'll pay closer attention now! I think I used There is Another Way to move Ara and Boromir, but didn't catch when I played There and Back Again. Just wanted to pop in and say thanks to both of you though... I love these vids the most because of everything I learn!

@@imfly131 All good - these things happen and it was a fun game regardless of the rule mistakes! 🙂
Probably a useful wakeup call to me actually - gonna brush up on the cards and the rules a bit as I also have a tendency to get a bit carried away when doing the commentaries and sometimes miss things I shouldn't.

This was like one of those crazy, fun kitchen table games. Great game guys, thanks GP!

1:06:08 interestingly if Will doesn’t use “help unlooked for” here he can use it to defend Rivendell, but I understand being worried about not taking the stronghold

ooooh...that's a really good point actually. It's nowhere near certain to work, but it'd give them a solid shot at it. Considering how unlikely it was to prevent SP from getting to 10 without being able to reinforce that way, keeping that would absolutely be the best play!

24:05 I just knew the game was going to give them mirror right after Lorien fell, because it could’ve been a very nice healing card

2:10 Not possible to Play it w/o saruman in Play 😉
Interesting that noone of them noticed that
Pelargir could have been attacked to force strider to move away before crowning

Haha oh god just watched the start back (recorded this a few weeks ago) and I immediately didn't notice that neither Palantir or Half Orcs weren't playable... I think I was tired when I recorded this one 😅

Effective 4/3/3 with city advantage VS effective 4/2/0? Nah, you can stay and take that fight.

22:55 valour does seem low value, but north is at war now and can muster for Erebor, so it might be ok. Southrons are still not mustered towards war, so the threat to DEW isn't imminent.
30:00 Too late now that SP joined forces in WLR, but I would really have liked to see an attack on WLR while there were only 5 regulars there. Could absolutely have restocked the garrison there, while likely leaving enough to scout to Erebor.
That being said, if FP is trying to win militarily, maybe they don't want to get their forces tied down in a siege...
39:57 If you're gonna scouts away Fords anyway, why spend a half move bringing the regular and leader to Weternmet? That could have been moving Strider down to Pelargir, or used to start gathering the Eriador armies for a push somewhere.
51:43 Shining Gandy to deny all the nazgul cards is still pretty significant, would kinda suck to be forced to roll just a single die due to dread and despair for example, but Gandy shining means that Daring Defiance doesn't work. You have to forfeit the leadership of all companions in the battle, and Gandy has already forfeited his, he can't do it again.
53:00 Looking forward to seeing if I'm wrong, but at this point I feel like FP can't go on the offensive without also threatening a retake. FP doesn't have any Gondor or Elven elites left, and SP could easily combine Osg and Umbar to take DA and win the tiebreaker.
57:00 Well, seems like SP did give him the opportunity to after all with attacking the stack, but at this point after not scouting and losing most of the army...it's probably too late. There are Rohan elites to muster, but I don't think there's time...
1:01:37 I think SP forgot to RR against Orthanc? Gandy shining, but 4 wargs.
1:04:13 Are there Sauron elites available in the pool? I'm not sure about the faction of them, but there are 4 elites in DG and 2 in Moria, if they're all Sauron then they're all on the board... :O
1:05:45 1 army move and 2 swords to get to Shire and Umbar leaves 2 swords and an army. Army takes you to DA, 1 sword moves the nazgul and 1 sword attacks. It works, but FP gets a few actions to muster regulars in DA, so taking it down in only 2 combat rounds and likely not rolling max dice in the second round is iffy.
That got way closer than I thought in the end! Terrible dice on both sides.

Will here! The Scouts out of Ford is a great point! I was 100% aware Aragorn could be crowned in Pelargir, the reason I moved him to DA when I moved Gandy was b/c Gandy was being useless in Fangorn and I needed to get him involved. Figured I'd move Aragorn with that die too. The reason I had the army hanging out next to MT was I was worried about SP VP and it felt better to be able to effect both Pel and MT with one army. So that's why I never moved to Pel, felt I had the shadow army in Gondor fixed and was hoping to eventually pull Through a Day and a Night.
At 53:00 I think I felt the same way. That's why I didn't feel I could go into Mordor with the army there. Felt I needed to keep him busy and retake territories, hence the move to kill Saruman. Waaaaaay too long maybe, but the whole game I felt like I was just holding him off enough to not lose. Finally, the Wargs didn't reroll because Saruman was dead!

    • @steave435
      @steave435 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@imfly131 Well, when they attacked Aragorn they went down to only a single sword and a ring for attacks, and it takes 4 attacks to bring the army to DA and take it, so unless they have two event card attacks (corsairs would count as one though, combined with mustering in Umbar) they can't win. It's theoretically possible but quite unlikely. That being said, I guess you didn't have the dice to win that turn either unless they leave Barad-Dur empty, so maybe that didn't matter.
