I just received my carbon fiber Rlaarlo AK 917 today (thanks to your original review). Last week I received my Rlaarlo AM-X12 (again thanks to your review and a very nice discount coupon) and I was completely blown away with the detail and craftmanship of both. The Am-X12 is a blast to drive, haven't driven the 917 yet but will tomorrow. I just want to say thankyou for your advice and

USB charger is supplied, but yes, eventually get yourself a quality 3S lipo battery and a quality RC Hobby battery charger (I've reviewed many on this channel and even have videos showing how to use a charger).

They told me shipping begins mid April to end April
I ordered a in first minutes of pre-order interval and still no info about shipment, nothing. Its shame with this big propagation has no service which can inform customer by the mail approx date of delivery.
@@martins2657 In the vid I mentioned shipping begins April 20th and later. You’ll receive a notification at that time (when it ships). When I ordered mine, I didn’t receive a confirmation until it shipped. Not the best system, but that’s what they use.

Go on AMAZON and get yourself a 4S 3000 mAh battery with XT60 connector
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thank you. Exactly the info I was looking for. However, even with the carbon fiber version, Rlaarlo told me I have to upgrade the motor to use a 4S battery, so I may just go for the 3s.
@@Binkoro The carbon version has a 120 amp ESC which is 4s. The version I used in this video is the 60 amp ESC which is 3S.
Hello captain drone. Can I ask you a question? When you buy from China directly do you pay customs in America and if so how much does it charge you? Regards Spyros
I live in CANADA. Customs works like this.... if you buy something from CHINA and you have it sent to you via POSTAL services (CHINA POST to your USPS) then 90% of the time you do not pay customs. If you have it sent via a COURRIER service like FEDEX, UPS, DHL, then you pay customs.

Great video...very informative. Personally, I'm looking forward to receiving the CF RTR I ordered (I know that, all but a few of those who received review units received the brushless aluminum versions...only a few received the CF version). Regarding the damaged camera, thankfully, if it ceases to function properly, that particular camera is relatively inexpensive to replace....think of all those who've lost/damaged their GoPro cameras.
At the same time, there are a few things I wish you had pointed out (things that other RC TH-camrs who received these pointed out) - that the unit you received is not a 'production' unit, but is actually a 'pre-production' unit; that reviewers received items that aren't actually included with the production units (such as the chassis protector); or that the "personalization" of the chassis is not something you requested, or even something that can be ordered (essentially, Rlaarlo did this to help prevent TH-cam reviewers from selling their AK-917s, which would violate the review unit agreement). I am also aware of some other 'differences' between the review units, and the actual production units that will start shipping soon, but I will refrain from going into them here.
Note that, while I do have an RC TH-cam channel, I am not one who received a review unit (my channel is far too new, not so I have a large subscribe base, so I don't receive such benefits)...I had to purchase mine with my own money, like almost everyone else. However, I can confirm that I am among the first 500 pre-orders (those who know about the pre-order "bonus" items will understand). To anyone interested in the AK-917, I HIGHLY recommend getting your orders in ASAP...as I understand it, once the pre-orders start shipping (which should be in approx 1-2 weeks), the price will increase to the 'regular' price. Don't quote me on that...as I said, that's just from what I understand, and comes from another TH-camr. 🤙🏼
I do have the Carbon unit ordered as well as I'm curious as to how I can make it something of interest.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I know RC Kicks & Tomley RC, both, received CF review units, and both ordered the brushless aluminum version. I've already started putting together a list of optional parts...but, I'm holding off placing the order until I receive my car, and determine what (if anything) else might be needed. I'm not expecting the AK-917 to be the same quality of the XO-1, or Limitless...but, Rlaarlo could surprise me (and others).
@@ninthislandrc I have the XO-1 and limitless (actually I have pretty much all the fast Traxxas/Arrma/Losi vehicles). The quality of the AK917 is outstanding for a 1/10th scale at the price point (nothing even comes close at the price).
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 'Interesting' wording...I'm not referring to quality "at the price point", but to quality in-general. That's the type of comment that typically requires "reading between the lines". I don't expect the AL-917 to be equal to Traxxas & Arrma quality, but (hopefully) at least close to Losi quality...and, better than Tamiya quality.
Getting back to your wording, I completely understand that, sometimes, reviewers who received products for free feel 'obligated' to not say anything bad about the product their reviewing. As such, I also understand that, IF there is anything "not good" about a promotionally-received product, said reviewers who received the product might elect to not point these things out (for obvious reasons, doing so could lead said reviewers to not receiving free products from manufacturers in the future).
In dating that, I am, in NO way, indicating that you are doing what I described above...obviously, viewers have no way of actually knowing which reviewers are being 100% honest, and which are "pandering to the manufacturers". However, I can say that, when I receive my AK-917, having purchased it myself, and not being bound by any "constraints", I will be "open" about everything I believe is 'good', as well as 'bad', in my video. Although there are some TH-camrs I question the degree of "honesty" in their review videos...and, I am NOT saying you are one of them...I continue to watch videos from all channels I am subscribed to, as even the "not completely honest" ones still provide valuable information.

Do they ship from America? If not, that’s a deal breaker for me. Every thing I run, I can go to five different shops all within 10 miles and they have what I need on the wall. I’m not interested in anything I can’t get parts for within a couple days, and for which I can’t speak to a real person about when there’s a problem with the product. To me, it negates the savings of a cheaper product.
To be competitive in speed running, single motor class, you need to hit 200 MPH. NOT KPH.

Yea, with a £1500 car, I don't expect this to be anywhere near my infraction, but for the money, even if it does 80, that's pretty good.
@@Nathan-qt2zi infraction is ARRMA quality BASHER and also super heavy on 6S or if you upgrade it to 8S so it requires more road to get up to speed. These new small size super cars hit top speed quicker and require less road… but they are not bashers, although this AK 917 is built extremely well to withstand most wipeouts.
@CAPTAIN DRONE yea, my infraction has a max 8 g2 and a 17 tooth pinion, so I can still slide mine around. I can't wait to get my ak917 just going to be a fun little car.

When they start selling it for regular price, I think it’s too expensive.
The company has reported that they have sold more than expected, so now production needs to ramp up again. They will still sell at the full price, but now it the time to get in on the savings as the prices are at the COST point for the company, so very little profit. If you think prices are high, go visit Traxxas, Losi or Arrma.

Yeah Riaarlo customer service is Horrible !!! I purchased a AK-917 carbon fiber RTR on 4/29/23 I paid extra for expedited shipping ok on 5/6/23 I got a shipping email so about a week passes so I track it and it says waiting for carrier/DHL to pick up item. So I message DHL and they said Riaarlo only made a electronic email that they could not pick up item, So I message Riaarlo and again and again and again so on and no response nothing to this day about my order WTF Riaarlo??? I will never purchase anything from them again !!!!!!!!!!!!
Rlarrrlo has indicated (last month) that the response for their product was much greater than expected. This means they have to book time at the factory along with parts/assembly to make the additional product. Everyone who ordered the first batch of 500 items received theirs quick.... everyone else, well when the product is ready, it will ship.

I am going to tell you about my experience with this garbage car and this garbage brand, I bought the Rlaarlo ak 917 carbon fiber version, and the first thing when making the purchase I bought it with fast shipping paying 19 euros more for said shipping, supposedly it arrived in a week, well, lie, it took me 20 days to arrive, when it arrived it arrived with the steering out of adjustment, with one wheel facing one side and the other facing the opposite side, after looking closely at the car I realized that the screw that The connection between the servo arm and the servo horn was loose, and then I realized that one of the two small screws that the servo horn has is missing. In addition, this car has a serious signal loss problem. I am writing to the support. technician of this garbage brand, and until today they have been giving me my time, they say that the missing screw is too small to send it, anyone who buys this car forgets to be able to return it is impossible, they brag that they have good technical support and it is a garbage, just like the customer treatment, I do not recommend products from this brand, it is a waste of money

Hey bud I'm trying to get ahold of that company that made that car I ordered mine on the 28th of April I've sent them dozens of emails I haven't got a tracking number my car hasn't shown up and I paid for spee-dee delivery and still haven't gotten the car are you able to help with find more contact info other than a email

Don't fret, your car is coming. The issue is there was way more demand than supply ordered, so the factory is off building other things before it returns to this model of car. When you get a notice it is on its way, it then takes a little less than a week before it arrives at your door. Everyone who was part of the first 500 (I believe that was the number) ordered, has received theirs. You must have ordered at the end of this. The company usually responds but I'm guessing they are overwhelmed.

@@user-jy6tr6ej3j Also when you email them, write in clear proper English, then translate it to Chinese in Google Translate. Send the translated version and you may receive a response faster in Chinese, which you then translate at your end.
Arrma Vendetta is faster out the box and less than a hundred more.....
