This is so cool, Phil! I really wish to have more time on my hands (pun intended!). At the moment it‘s very hard for me to keep a steady practice regime. I got two jobs and play 1-2 gigs on the weekend.

@@philmaturanodrumsThat‘s a good question, really. I had some tough times financially in the early 2000s. At that time I was single for a long time and the costs of my house was eating me up, even I had a good job at a newspaper. At that time I was only doing original music with bands and songwriters and original music means no money! ;-) Then I had the chance to do a 2nd job as a freelancer in the newspaper business, at the same time I was asked to join a Top40 band with around 50 good payed gigs a year. So money wasn‘t that big of a problem anymore. I got used to the dough even if I know that this killing the ability to progress as a musician. It’s a catch 22. I‘ve turned 60 this year and can retire from my dayjob in two years, but I want to evolve now, of course.

@@thomasnussbaum4711 I understand believe me, You are not alone. I have many friends in the same position as you. The good news is that if your foundation in drumming is solid you can make a lot of progress if you have the right people on your side! Sometimes destiny dictates our journey. Sometimes you can influence it sometimes not. Count the blessings that you are still playing because that is the biggest and greatest gift you can give to yourself

Love the spivack/wilson method. You studied with Freddie Gruber too, what are the differences as there must be some crossovers with both methods? I’ve watched Bruce Becker talk about Freddie quite a bit. Fascinating stuff.
Do you teach the rebound method on your teaching coarse?

Hi Richard! Yes there was a lot of crossover info and some disagreement. But in the end at that level it was all incredibly usefull and wonderful. This hand tech is of course a big part of the site:)

Once speed is increased doesn't a player always use rebound? I'd think it'd be physically impossible to force a double stroke without rebound at faster tempos?

Experienced players yes. But for some its still a battle :-)
