Itty IS a domesticated pet. Clearly Itty wants nothing to do with living in constant danger in the wild, she clearly prefers human interaction and what love this critter is getting to show and receive. She is part of your family. Too precious.
I went to Walmart the other day and met Charlotte, the pet squirrel. She was only a baby, she was in the basket riding around the store with her owner ,happy and health !!!
Itty is such a beautiful and sentient creature ❤. If she could write, she'd probably say "I have a family. They don't look like me, but they're my family.".
I love raccoons I enjoy every moment with mine in the warm weather. Thanks for sharing I had a pet one also they get into everything, just love them❤❤❤❤❤
I like raccoons they are really cute, and adorable. Itty is beautiful she has a very pretty and cute face. And yes, she seems to be really affectionate with you guys. I am glad that she is in great hands receiving affection and proper care plus plenty of attention and love. She is a very lucky raccoon. May God bless her always and protect her from predators. She is a total cutesy. Thank you for sharing your story with us, and thank you for rescuing Itty and given her the love she deserves it. You are a very kind and caring human being. I applaud you. 👏👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️👍👍👏👏👏👏
Oh my, Itty is adorable as well as her name. God bless you all for being such wonderful , compassionate & a loving family. But I do agree with one person who commented, I think Itty has become your sweet family pet, if she goes into the wild now, she may gave serious challenges.
Oh my gosh she’s precious. Yeah I would let her stay with you as long as she wants I would keep her there she’d be safer with y’all she can play outside and still be with y’all. I think she’s part of the family she wants to be with y’all for as long as she lives, I would think, this is such a beautiful story. I love it so precious thanks for sharing.🥰❤️
My ex wife and I many Years ago raised a 3day old racoon, and they are like human babies, as when it's time to feed them they cry just like a Human baby, and at that time there was no special formula for wild animals, so we used New Born formula. I had a beard at the time and He loved playing with it(Still have the Photos). Then he was turned over to the Nature park where it was taught to forage for food in the wild!😀
It's you who needs to understand. They may treat her like a pet and think of her as a pet but in reality this is a wild animal and you cannot predict what a wild animal will do even if they seem friendly. People have had their faces torn off by a wild animal they have kept as a pet with no warning.
@@CatT1987 Granted raccoons are not domesticated animals. Helping wild animals stay wild or return to the wild is always the best policy. However, the animal you’re talking about that ripped the face off a human being was a chimpanzee. There isn’t a human being on the planet that has had its face ripped off by a raccoon.
We had a raccoon 50+ years ago, when I was a kid. We got him under the same circumstances, he and his siblings were abandoned. They are a lot of fun but can be destructive. We had a farm so he had the run of the place, inside and out. One day a lady was driving by. When she saw him playing with the dog on our lawn she stopped in to chat. She previously had a _pet_ racoon that had passed away after 11 years and asked if we would sell ours. After hearing what a great life her previous raccoon had we gave he the guy we had.
Many years ago, when I was still able to drive, I was returning from a job in the West of England, following a car that had an interesting bundle of fur in the rear window. The car stopped in a lay-by and I stopped behind. I leapt out of my car when the driver of the other car took hold of the "bundle of fur", which I could see was a raccoon, and walked toward me. I leapt out of my car.... My hard day of work melted. The owner of the raccoon was so generous with his time and presented his pet to me in full detail. Many years later I am still jealous...
FYI My vet said, there is no rabies vaccine for raccoons and they sometimes show no symptoms. They can also carry and transmit rabies without getting sick themselves. I would recommend talking to a vet about this.
I raised a baby raccoon from a baby. It didn’t have its eyes open yet. I fed her often and burped her. Helped her go to the bathroom over the sink. Had to stimulate her liver mother would have. As she got older, she followed me around outside. She played with my cats. Then one day, on her own, she started using the litter box! I loved her so much.
We heard about a guy who had one & it chewed into his house from outside. The raccoon insisted on going out during the day. The german shepherd got attacked & required lots of stitches. They belong in the great outdoors.
Looks like you did a fine job raising it - having said that you had a COLLAR on it . IF it had run off a COLLAR will SLOWLY CHOCK or STARVE a wild animal to death as it grows. I've had to help catch wild animals that had collars - the removal and rehabilitation is long task and seen too many that didn't get help and died.
She is adorable, I'm jealous and wha wha wha to people who would rather an animal be put to sleep than believe one that's been out of the wild too long or never been outside after birth could or should be a family member, all animals are different and each situation is different. I'd recue any animal with the exception of snakes . I have indoor only cats as well as outdoor ex strays I feed so I couldnt rescue a squirrel, raccoon, possum or skunk or even a bobcat
It's wonderful that they did this, but at 5 days old the babies are too young to adopt and needed to stay with the mother until they are weaned, then let them be adopted.
Young raccoons are cute but once they reach adulthood their temperament changes and they become more aggressive, especially males. They are still wild animals and they will tear your place apart to get to food.
Many wild animals, when raised by humans, become imprinted on them. Therefore they show no fear of, and often show curiosity about, people. This can lead them to getting into trouble or danger. So SURELY it's better for that animal to stay with caring and loving owners and to live their best, and often longer, lives. Sure rescued wild animals should be released back into the wild if possible but if they can't be they can't. Better a healthy living animal than a dead one! End of.
At that age they can eat anything. If you're going to feed them any pet food, know that dog food is better for them than cat food. Cats are pretty strict carnivores while dogs are omnivores like raccoons. Raccoons like fruit (especially grapes), nuts, cheese, yogurt, sunflower seed hearts and peanut butter makes a nice treat.
'Trash Pandas' are smart, curious, playful, and affectionate. Wild ones can carry some nasty parasites and diseases (not their fault), so some immunizations may be in order for "guests'.
It seems like a good fit all the way around except one thing. Feeding a raccoon pizza and things that arent part of it's normal diet could have health backlashes later on. They arent designed to eat human food.
I would not leave that collar on her. If she decides to take off, even if it's a couple of months before she comes back her neck will grow. It could also get caught on something. It could end up killing her I have 2 pitts and a lab. One of the pitts and the lab were playing and the pitts lower jaw got caught under the labs collar. They had been out for a while. My grandson saw them. I had to get them apart. They do not wear collars anymore unless they are on a leash! I don't know for sure how long they were stuck together. The lab had a bloodshot eye for about a week.
I recently sowed may disapproval of my use of cagesfor dogs you are alrightbgood people never put a pet in a cage my mini sh ever saw a cage he lived 16 and half years of freedom
I wish I could get so lucky and find a small wild animal to love and take care of. Will you be releasing her back to the wild so she can find a family in the wild.
love raccoons , I work night shift at a hotel in Pigeon forge TN , and have a family of them that raid the trash cans .. the baby raccoons are getting to know me .. I have friends that have raised a racoon , but , its not for the weak of heart to own a racoon .. They can do a lot of damage to your household .. far from being a dog or cat .. so if you barely can deal with a cat or dog , dont get a raccoon
This is dangerous. Raccoons tend to revert to feral after 9 months of captivity. Look this up and see for yourself. When they revert they can violently attack their owner.
Well I don’t know where you read that I have had numerous coons for years and they never reverted back, they liked to be outdoors which they were allowed to but then my 4 year old dog likes to be out side all the time also.
0:22 And so are dogs, cats, fish, birds, horses. I'm tired of hearing that from hypocrites, oh yea, they'll have a dog, a cat, fish, a bird, or a horse, and make some excuse why it's OK to domesticate them and not other animals.
How sweet, until the government steps in and calls it a wild rabid animal in need of euthanasia. You should never have posed this. Keep these gifts private or Uncle Sam will take them away, for your protection of course.
Unfortunately, raccoons are not good house pets. Females are marginally better than males. If they return to the wild they will come back sometimes. They will tear drywall off the interior to get back in if you aren't right there to let them in. With abandoned kitts there is little else you can do besides what you did do. But be aware, they will come back many times & get more destructive (and more cantankerous) as they get older. Maybe your experience won't be so bad. Hopefully.

She certainly looks happy and healthy AND LOVED.
Take her to Paris!
So heartwarming, so humane.... thank you for being a wonderful human.

So they can be domesticated?

We demand justice for Peanut and Fred
She is awesome!!! Love this video!!!
Lovely video 😊❤

Thanks for understanding that she is a wild creature and taking care of her wild side and most importantly not locking her up.
Soooo precious.

Iddy is a beautiful soul
Thanks a lot! So cute video! Greetings from Hungary! 🙏
I wish we had them in australia, one of my favourite animals
Itty stole my heart❤
Itty’s such a beautiful being!
Absolutely beautiful.
I believe that at least one of them will become a veterinarian.
Iddy ain't goin' nowhere, shes tickled to death to have been adopted by y'all, she aint about to leave that.
Thanks for sharing your Story.
The Creator of Creation has sent One of His to your Family.
Your Family is blessed.
Greetings from the Netherlands.
Growing up in rural Montana, I had many Racoon pets. My favorite was called fidget and stole ice from drinks at the local tavern.
What an adorable baby! So sweet! Also, what a wonderful family! All the best for 2025! 😍😁😍
Raised as a pet from the beginning… “wild raccoon”? Is our intelligence a joke to you?
I know, sh*tforbtains, eh?
Raccoons are not a domesticated species and are thus "wild animals".
@ - we are not talking about raccoons… we are talking about a raccoon… fully and 100% domesticated….
She is just so cute and sweet.
Very cute and playful bringing joy to the people
"this is not a pet". Yes it is.
Your correct it's considered a pet.
She IS a pet and family member. No longer a wild animal. Please understand this.
It's you who needs to understand. They may treat her like a pet and think of her as a pet but in reality this is a wild animal and you cannot predict what a wild animal will do even if they seem friendly. People have had their faces torn off by a wild animal they have kept as a pet with no warning.

It is a symbiotic relationships give and take
The other thing with Raccoons, they will only tolerate humans for so long. They will eventually lash out and bite, they can no longer be trusted..
Nor where dogs and cats at some point KAREN!!!!
Lovely story ❤️
O hell, what an adventure. Cool
Hope you don’t live in New York . Very sweet story . Those babies are beyond adorable.
Too adorable ❤❤❤
That's so adorable 😊🎉❤
So sweet!
Anyone who thinks they are like dogs has never raised one to full maturity, take my word for it.
Don't answer your door for anyone 😂😂 it's so sad 😞 We Love You Peanut 😢
Every year growing up we had young raccoons most farm kids did.
Beautiful
What an amazing raccoon!!! 🦝
Just gorgeous. ❤

If she stays with you she is a pet : if the call of the wild doesn't call, then you have your answer.
Wonderful story !

Cute video
This family deserves and has peace on earth!
I like the new AI voice. It's perfectly normal.
We heard about a guy who had one & it chewed into his house from outside. The raccoon insisted on going out during the day. The german shepherd got attacked & required lots of stitches. They belong in the great outdoors.
Did you make sure the raccon got rabies shots? Also can a raccoon be litterbox trained?

I remeber there was a cartoon that had racoons in it, since then I have always avoided them

Justice for Fred and Peanut .
Be careful you don’t name him. Peanut. a neighborhood Karen might get upset and …You’ll get SWATTED …
Nice story. Regards!

Agree. Wild animal rescue centres will give little humans contact with wild animals, so they can be returned to the wild.
😂❤😂❤😂❤
ROBOT voice RUINS it!
Angel.
What do you feed an adolescent raccoon. Maybe 3-6 months old.

They're "designed" to eat human food and can eat almost anything. A raccoon shouldn't eat pizza everyday but some on occasion won't hurt a bit.
I highly advise anyone with feral/wild species taken-in as pets, to *NEVER POST ANYTHING ONLINE* about them.
R.I.P. Fred.
Must be you don"t live in New York where the DEC took a pet Raccoon and Squirrel and put them both down!
I would not leave that collar on her. If she decides to take off, even if it's a couple of months before she comes back her neck will grow. It could also get caught on something. It could end up killing her

I agree ,if you don’t have the time to speak the story in reality why bother ,droll and annoying , cute raccoon tho
I recently sowed may disapproval of my use of cagesfor dogs you are alrightbgood people never put a pet in a cage my mini sh ever saw a cage he lived 16 and half years of freedom
Pest control stole (and killed?) a mama raccoon from her owners and five days later they (the owners?) found five helpless cubs.
What pos is that?!
You doorknob. 😂
I wish I could get so lucky and find a small wild animal to love and take care of. Will you be releasing her back to the wild so she can find a family in the wild.

WATCH OUT. You know what the state did to that pet squirrel. It was seized and euthanized. Keep her safe. She is adorable
This is dangerous. Raccoons tend to revert to feral after 9 months of captivity. Look this up and see for yourself. When they revert they can violently attack their owner.
So can dogs....
She's not "in captivity". The video says she's allowed outside and can come and go as she pleases.

These are God's creatures but remember they are wild.
Was wild.
How do u feel when there raccoons that are attacking individuals
It is illegal in all but 16 US states to own a Racoon with good reason.
Can they be 'house broken'?
If you mean use a litter box, the answer is yes.
Some have some kind of Raccoon brain organism.
Ask a vet please

And so are dogs, cats, fish, birds, horses.
I'm tired of hearing that from hypocrites, oh yea, they'll have a dog, a cat, fish, a bird, or a horse, and make some excuse why it's OK to domesticate them and not other animals.
Just make sure you stay out of New York with her.
Who says wild animals can't be pets. Hogwash I say. And who makes the rules. Stuff them 😜
If a creature of nature why keep as a pet?.
Make sure you stay out of New York State with that raccoon !!!
How sweet, until the government steps in and calls it a wild rabid animal in need of euthanasia. You should never have posed this. Keep these gifts private or Uncle Sam will take them away, for your protection of course.

It’s obvious she will never be a pet
I hope you’re not in New York
You DONT live in New York, I hope??!!!!!
Cute now. But when they get older they are dangerous to be around. One day this animal will go wild on you..
That's why they let her come and go as she pleases. She can spend as much time as she wants outdoors and then come back to visit.
