This video just made up my mind- I am 23 at the time of writing this comment and I’ve had NO CLUE what I wanted to do for a living- I am visually impaired so a lot is limited for me, I can’t go into construction stuff, I can’t drive, I can’t read small print- but one day I was told “write a 900 word “essay” on absolutely anything at all.” So I wrote a crappy love story about a romance I was in at that time, and finding the joy of creative writing lit a spark inside my head- now I did get my fair share of “that’s a bad choice” or “that won’t support you” or “be realistic and don’t waste your time” but what they don’t get is that feeling of creating your own world on paper or on a screen, and developing characters over time, and being able to draw inspiration from anything- that feeling is indescribable, it’s amazing, it’s freedom- and now I’m going for it, I have made up my mind to go for it. So thank you so much for this video, if I succeed in my future I will owe it to you, you’d best believe it

This was such a helpful video! I'm starting my creative writing degree this month and I have heard so many negative things from other people about the degree which made me have doubts about whether I've made the right decision. But this has motivated me to just go for it as I really love creative writing and I'm passionate about it. So thank you :)

Thank you very much for your wonderful video about the Creative writing course. I have already finished both my MA and MPhil in English literature and I do write short stories and poems. But when it comes to writing fiction I have always found it hard to combine the plot and characters. And also I feel something is missing in my stories and I still couldn't find it. My dream is to become a writer. I'm from India, and I'm looking at the UK universities for MA in the creative writing course. People out there were telling me that it is such a waste of money (I'm about to take a student loan for almost 30,000 pounds) if I go with the creative writing course since it does not have a huge place when it comes to job opportunities. I was in a dilemma about whether I should go for it or not. Your video helped me very much. Thank you! Do you have any advice for me regarding taking a creative writing course?
First, I would like to say that a creative writing degree isn't a waste of money. A degree in writing is priceless because writing is how we communicate when we can't speak. So, a person who can write well is invaluable to any company. As far as taking a creative writing course at this point, that's up to you. If you already have multiple degrees perhaps you should focus on a career and write fiction on the side until you finish a manuscript. Then, send it to a literary agent.
Do you have a BA,MA OR PhD? Is it solely a Creative Writing degree you have or it's an English and Creative Writing degree?
There was a mixture of English and creative writing courses. Its official term is an M.A. in English with a concentration in Creative Writing.

In England, at least, I got my joint honours in English and Creative writing at Royal Holloway, University of London.
