  • Staff professionals usually understand that lead aprons need to be monitored or occasionally examined, however, most aren't trained on exactly how to do it. Here are some pointers on effectively keeping your lead protection in working order.

Xrays travel in a straight line. Like a flashlight. Today, machines there is little to no scatter. As of 2019 lead aprons in the medical and dental radiology will be used less soon to be obsolete. Research for yourself. We are not using machines from the 80's and prior.

Safa, thank you for your kind remarks and your question. Ideally, you want 6 feet distance from the exposure, HOWEVER, dental doses are so low that there are “exceptions”. If your daughter encountered scatter radiation, it was minimal. Worry not, my friend.

How do you feel about the ACR no longer recommending that we shield our patients? How do you feel about hospitals no longer allowing us to ask someone if they may be pregnant?

Ayanabeads, that is a very good question. In all truthfulness, I debated whether or not to post this video. Simply because this culture of no aprons is becoming so proliferate. However, this perspective is primarily relegated to hospitals. I am not discounting the theories that have been presented, but rather inferring that most clinics and tertiary markets are not yet comfortable with this strategy. In addition, there are many countries that watch my videos that haven’t espoused those theories either. As for me, I am doing more research to establish my opinion on the matter. I don’t claim to be a physicist, but I am reading their research as my source.
