The power of Ace
If you want to get a tattoo of Ace (or any other character, but Luffy's family members especially), I recommend not looking up any reference images until you're further caught up. This show has a bunch of plot twists related to Luffy's family, like the thing the live action spoiled, for example. Of course there's more kinds of spoilers you could find too, but I'm being vague on purpose. Stay spoiler-safe!

@@SuperRecast That's why i said what i said. I want them to enjoy the story, react genuinely and comment about their thoughts. But if they are constantly thinking "oh people said we have to watch three episodes in a row now and not two because something crazy is going to happen" then they watch the episodes with high expectatives but in the end it wasn't what they were expecting and say "Why did you guys asked us to watch three episodes?".
I think that they should watch the amount of episodes that they want and enjoy the show at their own pace.

In Japanese the last name goes first. So Luffys last name is Monkey read as Monkey D. Luffy. Aces full name is Portgas D. Ace with the last name of Portgas
Their names are Portgaz D Ace and Monkey D Luffy
Their last names are Portgaz and Monkey. One Piece works on the Japanese naming schemes of how your last name comes first, then middle name, then first name

Fun fact: Ace becomed the quickly the biggest favourite OMG character of the series despite he appeared just in few chapters in the manga back in the day (and everyone reacted like you ya) but since his appearance was short, in the anime they gived him more screentime with a mixed filler episodes :3

If your only basis if she saw it is guessing Ace was luffy's brother, almost every reactor I've seen makes that guess, because the show kinda makes it obvious with their traits and looks.

Garp's full name is Monkey D. Garp.
I hope season 2 of the OPLA will at least mention Garp's full name before Ace is introduced, considering how ppl keep getting confused about how names work in OP.

My fav doesn't come for like 600 eps but yea the flare flare has alot of potential. I mean obv the devastating strength that comes with being pure fire but you can do so much with that, from agriculture to warfare to straight up terraforming. Thank Apollo and every scientist that's ever existed.
In traditional Japanese, names are backwards. For example, Monkey D Luffy would be read backwards. Luffy is first name and Monkey is last name. So we would normally read it as Luffy D Monkey, Ace D Portgas, Roger D Gol etc.
Just a reminder Roger was executed 22 years before the series starts. Luffy had just turned 17 at the start of the series.
Also Luffy is his given name. Monkey D. Is his family name.

Hope you guys see this even though yall are weeks ahead. So many people are explaining the japanese naming convention and timeline lol also, since it's been revealed and shown. Garp was there in the live action, but they didn't show him in the anime. it IS one of the biggest differences that gets explained later on in the anime itself. Also, Luffy's family does somewhat get explained. One Piece doesn't really do red herrings and either gives information straight up or keeps it mysterious, but they don't lie. as far as i can remember.

💡Ace's fruit makes it intangible as well as Smoker's. Because he is made of fire and an interesting fact is that despite being made of fire, he can only extend his limbs with his ability, but cannot separate them. This was explained in a section of questions and answers from fans to Oda in the manga.

Just to clear something up:
It is impossible for Roger to be Luffys Dad. By the time Luffy arrives at Loguetown, it had been 22 years since Rogers execution. But Luffy is only 17 when he starts his journey.

Well, in Japan the surname comes first and then the name. Example: Roronoa Zoro. His name is Zoro and his surname is Roronoa. In the case of Luffy and Ace, Luffy's last name is Monkey D. and Ace's last name is Portgas D. So the two only have one of the same surnames, and the other is different. Anyway, it was really fun to see you guys making theories.
