Un cours vraiment complet, mêlant valeurs, ombres et lumières. Les couleurs sont tellement bien recherchées. Et le tout, accompagné d'explications magistrales. Merci pour votre générosité.
Thank you Malcolm for this excellent series of videos where you present the impressionist painting so beautifully and professionally! I've always admired impressionist painters ,now I love them even more. I live in the small country of Slovenia, where we are very proud of our great impressionist painters (Rihard Jakopič,Ivan Grohar,Matija Jama,Matej Sternen,Ivana Kobilica...)
I loved the light in this painting, Malcolm. Also the textures, colours. the olive green in the left foreground tree. Amazing piece, something that inspires me. Many thanks for sharing the fantastic demo.
Awesome Malcolm, You really inspire me. Also, a note about quality of your filming and the audio. Excellent, your voice is clear and the camera is not bouncing around, your narration is very clear. Thank you!
Do you clean your brush in between or use different brushes, or really just use the same brush throughout your process? For me it gets muddy when using it for a brighter color after a darker color. I paint with Acrylics ...
Mostly wiping the brush on cloth or tissue after a few strokes. Yes from dark to light it is best to use a different brush or make a thorough cleaning. Acrylics are not forgiving.😊
With so many styles of painting possible, how does an absolute beginner like myself know what type of painting to try and paint when starting to learn. Do you start off trying to paint realist paintings or Impressionism or abstract or other??
Yes it is confusing. Try different mediums, subjects and take some time. Also look at established artists work, art movements and see what really appeals to you. The answer becomes clearer, but is never immediate. Most important is to practice the universal basics. Composition, values and color. Keep it up and all falls into place.
@@MalcolmDewey thanks for the advice! I am a perfectionist so I’ve naturally tended towards focusing on detail whenever I’ve sketched or painted anything in the past. After watching your videos I’ve been inspired to try oil painting as a hobby/creative outlet and wasn’t sure what style of painting to attempt but your answer makes a lot of sense. My gut feel tells me impressionism seems like the way to go especially with the vibrant use of colour and light. It’s more freeing and will help me not to get tied up in the tiniest of details. Thanks again!!! Joe Els

Nicely done. 😊
Thanks! 😊
Thanks.
Lovely series! How challenging what it be if I used oils instead of acrylics, alla prima?
Easier. There will be a learning curve, but you will quickly appreciate the slower drying time for moving the paint about.
Do u talk of underpainting with acrylics?
Yes, I do use acrylics sometimes to underpaint.
You make a boring vieuw so nice colorfull
