Thanks for this. I have absolutely NO artistic ability but I had a blast following along and made something actually decent. You are a solid teacher.

I did this project to familiarize myself with the software and it was a lot of fun. I'm pretty impressed with Affinity Designer overall.

Nice to see another use case for AD.
It seems like a lost opportunity to show symbols for repeating elements like the cards though. :(

Thank you very much for the awesome video. I really love Affinity Designer, it is a great tool but it is unfortunate that there are no prototyping opportunities in AD and there are no tools that have import from Affinity Designer. But who knows, maybe the Serif will please us with the next prototyping application for example Affinity Proto / Affinity Motion

@@johnmevis1103 I meant to say, I agree with you 100%. I'm still using AD for graphic design, illustration, app design, and Photo and Publisher as well. But I couldn't use AD for prototyping. The area of static website/app prototyping is over. Clients/Stakeholders need more nowadays than PDF exports from AD in my opinion. P.S. About my dream: it's not a joke or sarcasm.

I would be over the moon to see a new product from Serif called Affinity Proto but only after we can finally export ePubs (fixed with and classic) from Affinity Publisher. What do you think about it? 📖Affinity Publisher could be a real game changer for the digital book publishing market.

Hilarious, that a well-known Adobe Product Evangelist works with Serif and uses Affinity Designer for making this quite static app design... 🤣 I found this episode so amusing but I would not consider it so useful after creating some app prototypes with more suitable tools. Anyway, great job Affinity and Jesse! 👍At the end, it doesn't matter which tool we use, a true designer remains designer. 👨‍🎨P.S. I wish Affinity Designer had proper tools for real Prototyping.

@@LeonidDeburger Kind of. Interactive elements, transitions, micro animations, etc but it could be much more with behavior driven actions for example: voice control, dynamic properties, inserted multimedia, etc.
🤫It happened yesterday that I purchased a one year software license of Drama.app. I just couldn't wait for Serif anymore. After using XD for half a year, I was fallen in love creating interactive prototypes.
My primary graphic design and illustration tool is still Affinity Designer and it won't be changed. I love it so much. I ditched Adobe CS after working with it almost a decade, then I switched from baby Sketch to Affinity tools and I didn't regret it. Sadly there are not enough features in Designer to use it as a primary prototyping tool. I still hope that it will change at some point in the future.
Until then I deep dive into Drama, which is a new kid on the block with a well-known company history in the iOS community. We shall see.

While Jesse does show up on Adobe live streams as well, I believe his design app of choice is actually Figma, not Adobe XD. So it's equally hilarious that he's on the Adobe streams. ;)
Having said that, if you don't need prototyping or developer hand-off features then Affinity Designer is a perfectly capable UI design tool. And there's plenty of independent prototyping tools you can use alongside AD. On the other hand UI Design is something Serif will eventually have to address head on, whether with a new app or by adding those features to AD.
