Beat me to it by 3 years. Been into them since Birdbrain but they really went on a tear with Let Me Come Over...BRLD and Sleepy Eyed are all killers...
Saw BT (finally) for the first time in 2017 in London after being a fan from1993! Amazingly underrated band. Had a video chat with Bill a couple of years back, so down to earth and still rocking it. Need to find a reason to go to Boston to see them again.
Highly underrated. Saw them back in 98 or 99 when they played at my undergrad college in PA. People still search for the ultimate guitar tone but it's obviously been done...a few pedals, an SG and a Marshall. Funny this song and taillights are so similar but both amazing in their own right. This was back when a band meant something....
As it goes : When the drummer would have been the frontman they probbly would have been bigger, cos Tom had star appeal (see Evan Dando and the Lemonheads for example ).. 😁 You can play their whole back catalogue in any order back and forth , and it's all about the same quality.
BT fans....Failure fans....Smudge fans...fans of Blinker The Star or Hum....it just means we paid attention to what was GOOD and not what was "popular." Please don't nag me for skipping the scores of great acts that came out of this era. I was just trying to select a few that represented a similar genre. There were SOOO many good punk acts (in addition to the alternative, some of which I mentioned) that were fantastic in the 90's. We lived in a magical era. Be thankful!
@scottymacIII The irony of what you said is true. I first saw BT when they supported The Wedding Present. 2 of my favourite bands that only achieved minor success (in the big scheme of things). On the plus side, when you meet a fellow fan you know straight away that they have a great taste in music. I still wish I could go back to the 90's though...
I'm ready to get out my flannel, doc martins, and manic panic. Can America just get a do over and go back to a simpler time? 2016 had been boring but a raging dumpster fire, it seems.
@jjpc67 marketing, or lack thereof, it sucks that bands like Guadal Canal Diary, REM and others were recognized, and Buffalo Tom seemed to almost always be right there on the brink. Just goes to show, it's not how you play, your sound, it's not what you know, it's..........who
Damn this was a colossal tune. Still is.
by far the most underrated 90s band of that era and they still kick ass in 2016

Don't think they are/were underrated at all. Did not have huge success, that's what you mean?
They still kick ass in 2024!!!
Still love this band...can't believe it's been like 25 yrs since I first heard them...high school in the 90s....such nostalgia!!!
