Back in '93, I turned a work buddy on to Sugar's Copper Blue. He turned me on to this album. I haven't seen or heard from him in 25 years, but I'm sure we're still playing both albums and remembering how we first heard them. Damn great music.
Buffalo Tom, seriously, fantastic band. I have loved them from the early 90s. Certain bands who made it huge could not hold a candle to the quality of Buffalo Tom's songs. My personal opinion. 😎🎸🎶💚🔥
I did the makeup on this video 😊. They were such great guys. We filmed it up near Big Bear. We drove out from LA and it was freezing cold there. Great day
So......................I take it you met Samuel Bayer? If so, JEALOUS! He's definitely one of my favorite music video directors. Cool that you got to take part in this!
Mid nineties I joined friends in a rockband as a drummer. We chose new covers to do and there were a few I did not know, like this song (also things from Scabs, Prodigal Sons) but the guitarist and the singer tought me those songs on the spot. It was way before TH-cam and I never heard those songs before we played them live. I tried to figure out how to play a fitting drum line and to my surprise it was almost exactly the same, when I found these songs ten years later.
I20 Minutes on MTV(when the M actually stood for Music) introduced me to a ton of bands that were just as good as the mainstream radio friendly bangers that were out there..Bring the Music back MTV
@@eric02125 120 Minutes turned me on to a lot of great music. Probably should've spent more time on Sunday nights studying instead of watching that show and 'The Simpsons'. Dinosaur Jr. was one of my better discoveries on that show.
This song touches me every time. I didn't get the meaning of 'being allowed' when I heard it back in the 90s, but I guess it's something like allowed to drink, drive, etc. In other words: he's a grown-up now. What I like about the lyrics is that he sings from the first-person perspective in 'Waited for an answer. But I waited for twenty five years' and then switches to 'I waited for the day when you came out from beneath all that weight'. It looks like he's addressing himself in these lines, so the perspective becomes a bit vague, but in a likeable way. And then the 'came to a party'-part, what's that about? Looks like the 'party' is figurative way of describing all the cool stuff he was promised as a kid for once he would become an adult. In reality he doesn't have a clue and feels awkward and depressed. Still though, there seems to have been a real party when you look at the last part: 'She spoke of a French boy. At least two times through the night. It could have been the liquor, or the music but that is all right.' So there you have it: an amazing coming-of-age story in a few lines of text being carried by chords, melody and voice. Love it every freaking time again.
All their songs are good, some are way way beyond good, get a tear drop in your eye good. Takes about 100 listens to get into their songs though. Never get sick of these types of songs.
Waited for an answer But I waited for twenty five years They stopped my bleeding But could never stop all those tears I waited for the day when He came out from beneath all that weight I tried to lift it But it seems I got there too Late Just too late Just too late Cause I'm allowed Came to the party But I got my own signals crossed Thought I was welcome But I felt like I should get lost I know that I'm older Cause I feel that everywhere I could talk to no one Cause I knew not one person There No one's there They just stared But they're allowed As vivid as a car wreck Watch them dripping off highway ramps She came to me smiling Her heart underneath both her hands She spoke of a French boy At least two times through the night It could have been the liquor Or the music but that is All right That's all right She's allowed And I'm allowed I'm allowed I'm allowed I always like when people post the lyrics so I did it myself since nobody had yet. Great lyrics as usual.

BRLD is one of the 20 greatest rock albums of all time. Thank you Bill, genius.

Great song. Always brings me back to my younger years...
Songs don't get much greater than this.
New album coming out in May!
I can think of 100 90's bands that Buffalo Tom should've been WAYYYY bigger than.
Right on

Ah, I'm young again.
Seeing these guys in Williamsburg tomorrow night. Can't wait!
Thumbs up !!
Love this. Brings me back to the Berkshires and the NEK.
One of the many great bands outta Beantown.
Listening to this gem in 2022
I Hope one day I'll stand on pub with few people , drinking a very cold beer and watching this Band close to me.
This is the only Buffalo Tom song I truly like. It's also about the only BT song I know, thanks to Boston radio, early 1990's.
All their songs are good, some are way way beyond good, get a tear drop in your eye good. Takes about 100 listens to get into their songs though. Never get sick of these types of songs.
Waited for an answer
But I waited for twenty five years
They stopped my bleeding
But could never stop all those tears
I waited for the day when
He came out from beneath all that weight
I tried to lift it
But it seems I got there too
Late
Just too late
Just too late
Cause I'm allowed
Came to the party
But I got my own signals crossed
Thought I was welcome
But I felt like I should get lost
I know that I'm older
Cause I feel that everywhere
I could talk to no one
Cause I knew not one person
There
No one's there
They just stared
But they're allowed
As vivid as a car wreck
Watch them dripping off highway ramps
She came to me smiling
Her heart underneath both her hands
She spoke of a French boy
At least two times through the night
It could have been the liquor
Or the music but that is
All right
That's all right
She's allowed
And I'm allowed
I'm allowed
I'm allowed
I always like when people post the lyrics so I did it myself since nobody had yet. Great lyrics as usual.
Love this band.
When you go to a party, and it’s really not your kind of party, and none of those people are actually your friends..
Exactly
Been there, done that. *sigh*
my introverted mind is laughing 😅
My So Called Youth....
this song is so sad, i domt know what its about but it feels like a real sadness to it.
It's pretty deep! Not ashamed to say it gets me emotional almost every time---probably because I can VERY easily relate to the majority of the lyrics.
Hugs to you. Sometimes it’s very cleansing to feel such ways about a song. Like shows us we aren’t dead inside just yet.
@@Johnnybananass-_ Amen to that!
Love this
Amazing song
Boston’s Finest
Buffalo Tom is the music of 90s : hidden by Pearl Jam, Bowie,Nirvana, REM..: my secret group
Tino was here.
CLASS
Nov 2022 and still here
Dank
"'i could talk to no one cause i knew one person there" i think would have been a better line
Love it X

2023, November 10th
I was never allowed
I know that I'm older ...
lyrics someone please
i can´t remember your songs
Love you guys so fucking much!
Curte som, Binho?
Underrated is a supremely lame pointless lazy dull internet cliche. BT are a great band. It's simple really.
The rest of 90s was rubbish.
Oasis
Me 2. Still chills me. EXIT
