  • Before I head off to Cape York, I thought it would be a good idea to replace the air filter with a high quality Australian made product for all that super fine dust. Best insurance out there.

    mate you can justify it anyway you want , but at the end of the day air filters need to be checked regularly if riding dirt in oz , 10.000kms in dirt in oz ?? better you than me

      Not forcing you to buy one.

      @@koalakoncepts didnt say you where ...but 10000 kms on dirt in oz without filter checks between is good way to dust your motor, its a good bike but the filter is poorly thought out for high dust enviroments

    The Aprilla 660 is up high in front of the tank and VERY easy to change. Unfortunately the Ducati Filter access is a bed design for a off road bike , just like the African twin .

      It is in an ackward position, but once you have done it a couple of time only takes about 20min and the position of it actually helps it suck in fairly clean air.

      @@koalakoncepts have you heard the induction sound of the 660 as filter is WAY high and up front ( also glide you did drown it easy to get to airbox

      @itsallabouttheridekeepingi4449 I have heard the 660, and I dont intend to take this bike through any deep water crossings, so it's fine for me. I'd have something smaller to do the harder enduro stuff.

    You can get the filter out and new one in without taking the ecu out just the 4 bolts the top will lift enough. Great video man

    • @koalakoncepts
      @koalakoncepts  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes you can, but not if you want to apply the grease correctly. Then you dont have to worry about stressing the 2 that are hard to get out. It dosent take that much longer really.

    Australian edition on your ECU, eh?
    Pretty sure mine doesn’t say “Alaskan edition”…but would be cool if it did.
    Let me know if you want to do a bike swap someday. Alaska is a wild land, and incredible to explore.

    Another awesome video. When I tried to take my tank off I couldn’t get that rear breather hose off so I gave up. When did you pick up your bike as mine was March 2023 and I was told all Australian bikes were then fitted with a unifilter not a paper filter. They said mine has the unifilter but I haven’t checked

    • @koalakoncepts
      @koalakoncepts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I got mine in Jan 2023, I did hear the unifilter was an option, not sure if they were supposed to be fitted from the dealer at that time or not, ive only heard of them doing it (at cost) when they do the coil placement on the breather during the recall, for the first batch.

    Me gustaría ver a un piloto hacer este proceso en medio de la nada, después de estar en la arena por horas y que quiera limpiar o cambiar su filtro de aire …. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🔥🔥🔥Ducati complicando la vida de los aventureros 😅😅😅

    So we pay 20 K to get the bike and then we have to upgrade the filter?

    • @koalakoncepts
      @koalakoncepts  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Dont have to upgrade it at all. No matter what bike you go with an oiled foam filter is much better for offroad. But if your a pavement princess I wouldn't worry about it.

    Jeez, that looks like a pig of a job. Only Italians could put an adventurer/off road bike air filter under the fuel tank surely? Very informative video though, I reckon a lot of Desert X riders will thank you for this.

    • @koalakoncepts
      @koalakoncepts  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thanks for that, yeah ive got it down to about 10min to change it over so its not too bad. And with it sucking air in from the rear of the tank up high, it doesn't get as dirty as quick as like a ktm that takes the air in from the mudguard. Each bike has their own little quirks.

      Only the Italians?
      KTM put the 1090 filter in the same spot.
      Had no Idea KTM had that bike designed by Italians.
      Do, tell us more.

    10oookm airfilter change..wtf dude.. on a solo ride maybe..or touring..... on a group dusty ride.... airfilter clean every couple of days..

    • @koalakoncepts
      @koalakoncepts  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Its still only 30min to change it out. Just changed it again at 20k but yes depends how up in the dust you are.

    • @mortaygo1
      @mortaygo1 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah fair enough. I clean my Tenere 700 pre filter every ride

    • @koalakoncepts
      @koalakoncepts  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @mortaygo1 Air gets sucked in from different places on the 2 bikes too. The ducati is higher up and reversed. So doesn't tend to grab as much crap.

    • @mortaygo1
      @mortaygo1 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Makes sense.. but riding in dust the air is dirty regardless of where it is pulled from.. hopefully ducati consider easier airfilter access in future models

    • @koalakoncepts
      @koalakoncepts  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @mortaygo1 I tend to ride solo or if in a group, im not up the bum of the rider infront, replacing it really isn't a big deal once you have done it a few times.
