No more nails is all of a sudden getting a hell of a lot of free publicity,I bet unibond are over the moon with our del!!!!. Love your tongue in cheek hints and matts vid were he’s speechless is pure 24 carrot gold👏👏👏👏👏
Just missing some super slippy copper grease in the brake rebuild!
But hey, 2 outta 3 ain't bad!!
Great as always mate!
Wait a god damn minute. How fucking clean is that worktop? LOL!
Dirty AF
Very useful. Stripping and servicing my 1991 CBR1000F brakes over winter, including new reinforced hoses. I cannot believe that the basic original ones are still on!
Well done my good Sir! I was of course the one asking for "the trick", how to get the outer dust seals fitted. Looks like your way was the right way. My hickup was using....not enought grease on it I belive, also tilting the piston will make my day. Took it all apart again, decided to get new pistons, wasnt sure the old ones would make the job. Just waiting for them now. Those glide pins with rubber seals are to be lubricated a bit with rubber grease, at least in my case, no function without sadly, the floating experience wasnt there without it. Good job, as always Andy! Autumn has arrived here in Norway, fired up the good old stove in the garage yesterday, as a comfort for that I bought another bike...Husqvarna Vitpilen, a cute little bugger for town use :) I will soon get a yelling from the misses about it but we all know whats best for us:)
Andy, Im a bit worried mate, all that major surgery on the GS, and you didnt take its temperature once? some people would have taken it at least 20 times mate, what is going on?? :) :) :)
Oh that’s gold! Stay tuned mate, episode 20 is in the can but 21 will be focusing on temperature 😂
Someone over at the workshop theorised that the reason for the constant checking of temperature might be to nail the right ovulation time
you mean there is an accuracy factor when fucking it up :) :)
yankee doodle
Absolutely. Dellina likes to fuck it up just right. She doesn't settle for anything less
And not once did this wanker use No More Nail (for some reason I have to write that with capitals for every word)!
great you've got a workshop. I don't even have a garage. What a pain to change my plug and coil pack on my car in the rain when I had the flu.
Entertaining and informative as always, got the wood gag.
No more nails is now an essential part of any real bikers under seat toolkit, thanks to our expert Del's advice
Its manufacturers must be rubbing their hands together in anticipation of all these extra sales. Maybe they'll put a picture of a bike on the tube
Also, I'm thinking that if you brush it on your tyres, not only will it increase the coefficient of friction between your tyre and the road (it'll be like your tyres are literally nailed to the road), but also, getting nails in your tyres should be a thing of the past too, if it does what it says on the tube. Just be careful to coat the whole tyre evenly - miss a bit and you'll leave that section still vulnerable.
...No More Nails and wood on a bike?....sounds super slippy to me mate!
An old get around for pitted forks... I know you said the sections of the forks the fork seals move over are OK but If there is any pitting close to the seal area a semi permanent repair of old was to use 2part epoxy Araldite, Then carefully rub the affected area smooth with very fine wet and dry.. It's worked for me in the past and nowadays it is possible to get silver coloured epoxy too.
Why don't you make a nice set of wooden brake calipers, they would look lovely with a nice varnish.
After finding the wood screw Andy you should stop and check chassis numbers.i think you may have a UK Gray import.lol.i looks like it's spent some of its life in the UK west country.keep up the cracking videos .when are you and Matt going to meet up and do a special workshop chat followed by a ride out.👍
lol, when he visits Tasmania so...never
Hi mate your a savior struggling with the front end on my GS where did you get that front mudguard from??
Excellent video as always Andy.....PMSL. I'm waiting for Dellend's next one where he swaps the engine for sails, and replaces the caliper's with an anchor.
Tiller steer on the Hammered Dog Shit bike 👍
no more nails ...ha ha
Andy I like your expertise maybe you could settle a dilemma for me, tapered brake seals, doesn’t seem to be much agreement on here ( u tube) as to which way they should be fitted ie highest lip to the outside or inside, I can see advantages to both ways for piston retraction but which is correct. Just a thought, we all love dilemmas.
Stop it Andy... My Jaws ache and I'm halfway ready for beach 2019. Haven't laughed so much in quite a while... 😂🤣😉
Remember, if you're using No More Nails, you should cover the bracket with a nice thick coat of fibreglass and resin.
Andy, I noted you leaving the red rubber grease on the workbench. What is the substitute in the Bosch tube? Thanks.
G’day Marty. It’s just Bosch rubber grease mate. The red grease they provide is perfectly fine but the Bosch stuff is fine too, it is formulated for use on braking systems. It is just easier and less messy than cutting open the supplied satchel.
What copper grease was deleted in this video? Damn!!
9°C in Australia?! Apparently the weather in germany isn't so bad after all, hasn't dropped below 15 in months!
Also I really feel the need to get one of those powered ratchets...
It did reach 9 degrees for about an hour at 3PM. Today, 6.5 with a current “feels like” temp of 0.4. Tasmania is a cooler state than most, right in the roaring forty’s and close to the antarctic. Around 30 degrees in south east Queensland at the moment.
Wood used correctly!
Having a dig at Mr coper grease, shame on you, he will hit you with a big bit of wood, unless he needs more for his fighter build. Lol. What wrench are you using there mate not seen one before?
I’ll do a video
Andy - I've noted on a number of occasions your use of rubber grease. Understood - but...I have always used brake fluid on caliper seals and pistons during reassembly of my braking system, with no ill effect, considering this fluid is identical to that which the seal needs to hold in check. Do you consider the rubber grease is a superior product for such purposes? Also - if you care to choose for yourself a C-Spanner, I will provide it.
Absolutely no problem with using brake fluid. I only use rubber grease because I feel that it provides better lubricity on assembly and reduces the risk of damage to the seals. Provided you are careful brake fluid is fine.
Andy what’s the details of your electric wrench??? Nifty piece of kit. I’m restoring a 95 xj900 and that wrench would make a big difference. Cheers steve
Hey Steve, it is a Milwaukee 12V ratchet. I use it at work all the time. It is the only Milwaukee tool I own, the rest are Makita, I chose it because of the small head size. They're available in 3/8" and 1/2" drive.
Loving the electric wrench.More information please 👍
I’ll do a video
Noted the wood and No Nails nod to the master. :-)
Them pins do need a smear of red rubber grease factory recommend those sliders on the suzuki calipers front and back have a habit of sticking with out a bit of lube ya doing a great job and i do get the funny comments
Thanks Brett 👍
you should be able to use a drift on that bottom race to get it out, theres usually enough of a step there to get purchase on it and knock it out without a special tool, which looks like it requires the same step to be present to work anyway....!
P.S..You obviously didn't take Del's special mechanics carpentry suppliment when you were at college!!
lol
Hi Andy, did your caliper pressure seals have a chamfered edge acting as a piston wiper.
Nope, just a quad-ring as far as I could see
I just read the literature that came with the seal kit and there was no mention of it there either.
Andy's Motorcycle Obsessions oh, ok. My old GPz 900 has the same caliper set up, but when I re furbed the calipers they sent me chamfered seals, old seals were chamfered too.
You bugger, now I’ll have to strip them and check. Were the chamfers obvious?
Andy's Motorcycle Obsessions yeah, sorry 'bout that mate. The chamfer is subtle but obvious when you hold it up. I really hope the're chamfered, I don't want to "bend you over." as the saying goes.
Just in case someone new is watching this and doesn't get the ducati joke.
Those bikes are notorious for running really hot.
ye mate .. wood is good lol
Check for wood worm before you reasemble..no more nails 😂😂
Paul Bain
I hear that hardwood con rods are particularly susceptible
btw, I know a guy called Paul Bain lol
knuckles zedawg lol, their can't be many of us about.aply ova wood glue on the Conrod, job sorted.
Pva! Not ova.
Ya can fix anything with no more nails ......but it can’t fix stupidity......lol......nice segway mate
Only one dislike... It can't be Mr No Nails.....😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 or can it...
Maybe 🤔
Andy's Motorcycle Obsessions ,, nah , it was me ..... & you know exactly why.
“ don’t forget to like , subscribe & comment “ he says with a cheeky smile,,,,,,,,
Well buster ,, I disliked , unsubscribed , & obviously this is my comment
😘
Yeah yeah, I watched the rest ( couldn’t help myself ) ,,, wood , what a joke , lol
