He is the master of subtle. He plays sounds so special that only a guitarist can hear them and enjoy them because you need trained fingers to actually feel/hear what he is doing. Love this guy. Surely one of the greats.
You think? have you been following what Jeff Beck is up to recently? IMHO he's playing better than ever now. I would agree with you about clapton, page and gilmour though.
I don't know about Knop, but I've been saying for years that Beck has actually gotten better with each decade. At least live he has. Unfortunately, his albums have been kind of so-so since the early 80's, but even in the studio he still has his moments.
That he's kept getting better and continued to grow as a player when most of his peers stopped learning decades ago is a massive inspiration to me to keep learning and growing myself. There may be many technically better players around but most of them sound like clones, Beck is so inventive and has a unique style all of his own and that's what I love about him.
I toured with Robin in 1991 and he was using 2 Fender Twins into those brown Marshall 4x12" cabs and he was staggeringly loud! But fantastic all the same...great player...
One was a probably a backup. But still, even one is really loud. I saw him several times in the 80's - 90's, and he always used a Marshall stack at those shows even in the small 1,000 seat clubs (he used to play at Mississippi Nights a lot in St. Louis) he was very loud. SRV is the only guy I've ever seen who played louder except maybe Van McLain in Shooting Star. I saw SRV with Jeff Beck at the Fox in St. Louis. Beck opened and sounded fantastic, but the sound guy had SRV's band so loud that it was just a wall of distortion. You literally could not tell the guitar from the drums. That's just stupid. It was a miserable show. We left after 3 or 4 songs.
Daniel Gorman so he shops at Whole Foods , thats why he’s so healthy ! They should use him in a commercial. I’ve never figured out why Clapton has never talked about or played with Robin Trower. Take Care.
What a pleasure to hear and see.........the Master has the Stratsound of the Universe.......and he has influenced the following generations...........very cool......
What an honor the good Lord made an incredible man who became a guitar player Robin trowe is a true inspiration and I'm just learning about Michael Caswell but what I've heard has been just wonderfully awesome as well uncle Robin is one of my ultimate guitar heroes if wasn't for guys like him and music I would have probably killed myself and music has gotten me though the worst things in my young 28 year old life Rob if I had one wish it would be to have you as a mentor and friend and would never do you wrong because I've had it done to me so many times before I've pretty much cut everyone off if anything I just wanna jam with you once at least
Your my guitar hero uncle Ron kicks ass ...... And look to the sky and tell me if the moon is blue and if it's meant to be then the melody was you !!!!!!! I love long Misty days very beautiful I've felt like that so many times
Robim takes a cue from Hendrix, gets the closest to Hendrix's sound and extends on it,creating something new and unique in the process. The only one to REALLY achieve that geniun feel in my opinion.
Awesome! I love this legend of a player, Robin Trower. His Bridge of Sighs album is one of the most influential albums of rock history.
No clue how more people don't know about this guy. Blows my mind.
Seen him in the 70s a few times. Cobo Hall Detroit
yeah, i was hooked first time i heard him.
his vibe just goes under the radar of people who for whatever reason don't get him.
Robin's phrasing is the most sophisticated and soulful of any blues guitarist....and hardest to copy

Yes, Well said.
The best guitarists play with feeling and use that. With phrasing
68 years old and still relevant as a musician, that's a great thing for anybody, he's such a normal and laid back chap as well, what a hero..
Master Class. We all miss Michael. RIP +
Robin still has it. That old school soulful touch, that sadly some other guitar masters appear to have lost.
You think? have you been following what Jeff Beck is up to recently?
IMHO he's playing better than ever now.
I would agree with you about clapton, page and gilmour though.
Oh and Knopfler as well, they have become parodies of themselves.

Yes that rather sound like some one else
Fuck me Robin is without a doubt the best....he makes SRV look like a kid on guitar....what soul he puts into every note

Magic, thanks Robin and Michael it is truly appreciated to hear this wonderful Jam.
Shout Out for Michael too, he has MANY video how too's, his playing and instruction was AWESOME.
He's hard to emulate. He has such unique touch, phrasing and vibrato. Love that music!
+univibe23 Indeed. He's extremely hard to emulate. There is nobody that plays like that!
well 80% of what he plays is Hendrix style, but i must admit he's pretty good at it. he absorbed his mindset like noone else.
Great playing. Fantastic touch. I believe the good majority of today's players need to watch this .
I wonder how many good videos we could have with Michael Casswell so far? We miss you.
I saw him only once in Boston in a small club in the 80's in Commonwealth Avenue. Boy, was he loud! Boy, was he great!
It's amazing how he succeeds to sound himself even when playing very standard 12 bar
Two legends here.
I was hooked the first time I listened to "Repent Walpurgis"
Robin Trower has an unmistakable guitar tone. One of the biggest and least recognized rock and roll.
RT playing makes me smile. Takes me back.
Rip Michael
