Yes. James Dewar was big and nicer to hear than most holy monsters .. and he never got the proper recognition, just like the Robin Trower that is rarely quoted among the big ones.
Blake Gowan it’s funny because I only recently discovered him recently and when I first heard him I thought he was Paul Rogers. Having said all that I prefer James to Paul.

How can you not like Robin? Every interview I've read/seen over the 40+ years I've listened to him, he seems like such a genuine guy. His guitar playing is an added bonus.
I’ll never forget that night when I was 12 years old growing up in the Bay Area. My brothers (both musicians who got to see Jimi Hendrix a couple of times ) took me to see Robin Trower for the first time at the Old Waldorf Theatre San Francisco. Twice Removed from Yesterday was already released, but he opened up the show with two new songs Day of The Eagle and Bridge of Sighs with James Dewar and Reg Isidore... The sound was huge and I was in Awe! 🎸😊
Robert Harwood Your forgetting the Fuzz Face. And now Trower has 4 or 5 different Fuzz and OD pedals. But the classic Trower is Wah?>Uni-Vibe>FF>Marshall
Why has Robin never been on EC's Crossroads roster? I looked at the line up just yesterday and once again didn't see his name. He deserves the exposure. All these decades of working on his craft, though periods of fame and obscurity, and he's stayed true. He's a legend, a true original, humble to his craft and loyal to his fans. He played those opening notes of Daydream and my heart still leapt - after all these decades he still slays me.
What a great attitude and message. As seasoned as he is - he looks forward to greater achievements. Moving forward rather than looking back seems super healthy to me.
I'm 58yrs.old now, and you have been my favorite guitarists since I was 18yrs. old. I've seen you live in a nightclub in Ca. 3 or 4 times. The sound and style you present, just sends chills through my whole body. My favorite live performance by you, would have to be. Your performance at Winterland, playing Daydream 1975. Of course I've only seen it on Utube. But it seriously drops me to my knees. You're so bad ass🖒🖒💕💕💕💕. You just are, and I love you for always remaining humble and sweet, and a little shy. Thank you for the many years of your awesome music Robin.
I could listen to the almighty Trower all day everyday for the rest of my life the guy is a class A legend & for em to keep on touring at his age is just fucking amazing thank you my brother for all the great music you have done over the years you are truly an inspiration for a mediocre guitar guru like myself
met Robin in '88 in Albq...he is not only a master class guitarist; but an incredible gentleman as well. I salute you sir, and thanks for all the great memories
I think Robin always got a bad rap for being a Hendrix clone which I never understood because he isn't! They both used Marshall superleads and the univibe, but his phrasing is completely his own! A very unique player and one of the very best of all time! I don't consider myself an emotional guy but something about that daydream riff brings a tear to my eye everytime I hear it!
Yeah very true... I mean, if Robin Trower is a Hendrix clone then so was Stevie Ray Vaughan. Jimi's influence is clearly there in both cases, but they're all unique and special in their own ways.
Yeah, for example Hendrix never did a track like Bridge of Sighs or A Tale Untold, and Trower always sounded more 'British', which was a good thing, obviously.
I love Robin's attitude and outlook on life. Simple, straightforward, happy but not fake cheerful, and looking towards the future not dwelling on the past. He comes across as very humble yet listen to the fire and emotion in his playing.
My favourite guitarist, what a shame he had to cancel his recent UK tour. Hope to see him back in Scotland. One of my very special memories was seeing him when Jimmy Dewar was on bass.
@Tom Upton And how. First saw jimmy with Stone the Crows at Burns Howff in Glasgow so many many years ago, originally went there to see The Last Poets (who went nowhere), as they started getting some recognition I saw Stone the Crows at a later date at the Apollo, they really were a superb band. Jimmy was a great singer and just so much better than say Davie Pattison or the young lad who has been playing bass / singing (if you could call it that) with Trower over the last few years. Favourite vocal on any Trower album has to be About To Begin from Bridge of Sighs. Dewar for me was one of the greatest talents Scotland has produced.
Wow time flies. Just gave me a nice memory of a road trip from BC🇨🇦 down to Seattle to see Robin Trower about 32 years ago. He has that distinct timeless sound. Too Rolling Stoned., Day of the Eagle..superb🎵🎸

Steve Kuykendall Agreed. He's a unique guitarist and artist. Bridge of Sighs album was Rock album of the year in 1974 for a very good reason
The vibrato makes a huge difference in playing and quality of tone. The uni-vibe really shines through with great vibrato
