  • what's up, in todays video we run some tests on the ka24de in my black hatch to see if the motor is blown up or not lol. I show how to run a leak down test and other tests that will let you figure out if the bottom end on your car is good or not. Tune in next video where we will be finally starting to learn how to drive the car !!!

    Sorry I didn’t get all the way through the video just yet (14:00 rn)
    You guys need to do your leak down test again the correct way. The way you guys did it wasn’t right and it’s ok be you probably didn’t know.
    You need to feed the cylinder at least 100psi minimum.
    Secondly, most importantly. Not only does the cylinder need to be at TDC, but BOTH VALVES NEED TO BE CLOSED. You need to pull off the valve cover and make sure that the cam lobes aren’t pressing down on the valves when the cylinder is at TDC. This would only be possible on the compression stroke.
    If you have the engine at TDC on the exhaust stroke which is 100% possible, the. You won’t get an accurate reading.
    Edit: Finally finished watching the video. Glad to see you got it up and going! I didn’t know this car was auto to manual swapped! That was definitely your car dying problem right there! The auto ECUs have slightly different fueling and TPS maps since there is a torque converter to drive through. I have had an auto ECU in my factory manual S13 for 18 years lol. I raised the idle slightly to fix the same problem. I have it as low as I can have it (~800rpms) and it runs great.
    Auto ECUS have a higher rev limiter and a higher fuel cut fyi.

      thanks for the input bro will definitely try that next leak test, I heard 50psi is usually fine and that 100 is best but sometimes may make the crank want to move, and I did make sure the valves were closed at TDC :)
      I’ve been wanting to try an auto ecu for that reason but idk, do you think I should try a manual ecu or keep the auto ecu?

      @@Rxstro If you got the idle steady and the car doesn’t stall when coming to a stop, I’d just rock the auto ECU. Like I said, my S13 is a factory manual car and I swapped the manual ECU out for an Auto ECU a long time ago and never looked back.

    • @Rxstro
      @Rxstro  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yea it’s good now but my rpm gauge is really laggy sometimes I was wondering if the ecu had something to do with it

    • @Knownworldwide
      @Knownworldwide ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Rxstro it could, but at this age it could be wiring or the tach itself going bad. My car doesn’t jump around at all. Never has. I’d check the back of the cluster for a poor connections and make sure that you have a good ground from the motor to the chassis.

    • @Knownworldwide
      @Knownworldwide ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Iirc it should be the yellow/red wire that is the signal wire from the ECU. You’d have to double check that. I can try to look it up tomorrow. About to sleep zzz
