    I've recorded almost every home demo I ever did with my Boss OD-2 pedal straight into my board, and into 4 tracks cassette and later PC based recordings. It's always been clean and sounded great!

    I think OD-2 is the most underrated among Boss OD and DS range

    I really like the way you both set the knobs on the fly, very effective, no frills!

    Just one this pedal from the lead singer of Drab Majesty, and if I can, I’m going to use it in the metal cover of Cold Souls that I want to do. I love the description of this pedal, and the sounds that I am going to get out of it! I happen to be blind, and know next to nothing about guitars, so I have a lot to learn! Thanks for making my beginning adventure fun! Love the Australian accent, too!

    Thanks for this boys! This was my one and only distortion pedal in mid 90s with my trusty second hand Ibanez learning Metallica, soundgarden etc. She has a special place in my heart. Everything was turned up to 11 for Max distortion lol (even though there were likely better pedals she was all I had). Love all the different guitars you demoed, that fano is gorgeous with those chrome p90s!

    This silly pedal has been on my board since the 80's. Countless times people have come up to me asking me how do I get such great guitar tone. I ain't no guitar god or do I pretend to be but I do have tone, and it is this pedal. Plain and simple.

    I have an old turbo pedal as well....this video has given me a better idea of how to handle this pedal and why it is definitely worth keeping on my pedal pad!!

    It would be interesting to hear some old Boss or DOD pedals against some newer boutique type pedals. Have effect pedals really progressed and is the hype around newer or some vintage pedals justified?

      There really isn't much of a difference except on very particular pedals. The ones that are 2 in 1, have a full EQ section and some fuzz pedals that have either a clean octave down, a switch to chose different clippings or self oscilation. The rest of the dirt pedals are pretty standard copies of one another with a different paint job.

    • @Paul_Lenard_Ewing

      When it comes to dirt there are only 4 basic schematics 3 kinds of transistors and OpAmps to work from. You can make a Fuzz, a herd clipper a soft clipper or make a amp pre cascading FETS. Only cascading the FET designs are there a few modern killer pedals. LPD pedals are quite astonishing. One uses 12 FETs so the entire range is a sweet spot/ PedalPalFX literary uses an amps schematics replacing each tube with a FET. You can take for example their JCM 800 pedal and go between the amps preamp and the pedal and not hear any difference. Using modern NASA spec parts makes the pedals much quieter and keeps the mud out of the sound when making a modern Amp-In-A-Box. But when it comes to things like a Fuzz unreliable quirky old germanium transistors make a different but easily as cool sound.Many old pedals sound great from dumb luck. An OpAmp is meant to be clean but the old ones added a bit of extra distortion. The reason they stopped being made is the marketplace wanted clean ones to make radios etc. and the pedal market was tiny and not worth catering for.

    I've been al over google and TH-cam - there isn't tons if info out there. Just people using it and playing with the controls. I just want to know if it's a modded version of something they already had, or if it's a different circuit.

    I have a OD-2t which has a “remote” intake to put an on/off pedal for the turbo. But this did become a secondary Overdrive today because I bought an SD-1w now I own every Waza Craft.

    If there is one thing I got out of this vid is what a huge difference pick ups make to the sound. On Alex single coil Teli on non turbo hardly even sounded overdriven. Jump in a humbucker or P90 and you get the sound. But feel this is a weak (not powerful) pedal by modern standards

    • @TSFAHTPS
      @TSFAHTPS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah the guitars make such a difference ...especially guitars like the Fano...with those really high output P90s! I think we might do a few videos comparing some old pedals with newer ones to see how they hold up

    • @piktormusic2538
      @piktormusic2538 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used this pedal on a Multimoog (circa 1978), but it did not sound good on a late eighties Oberheim. I guess you could also say that it depends on what synth you use too.

    OD2 is simplified a OD-1 channel (soft diode clipping) and a gainish BD-2 like channel (discrete opamp clipping). Electronically quite different.

    You should do a vid onall the stuff Gabor has on his left
    ADDED: yeah never been a fan of Boss dirt pedals exept the low gain ones too. Their OD200 confirmed my disliking. The rest of the 200/500 range is pretty sweet though

    • @TSFAHTPS
      @TSFAHTPS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hehe...there is a LOT of stuff I have left...I have a problem 😜
      I find the low gain and really high gain “metal” ones are my favourites...I actually like the OD20 quite a lot...the OD200 wasn’t really my thing either! And absolutely...all the other 200/500 series stuff is killer
