We’ve only had the cameras up and running for a short time. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxOXxsTZ3ptV_Pk0fFl8bNZvVqeoqBQFwe So far we love them! I got the outdoor mounting kit for them and they were easy to install. Once you download the app, it walks you through the very easy set up. The clarity, and range is awesome. I am thinking seriously about adding another camera or two to my 3 camera system. The price is lower than a lot of comparable systems.
I love how it feels like a bunch of normal dudes and dudettes making stuff that people want. Doesn't feel corporate. Feels like friends.
They are! I met them at the beach (yes...) a little over two years ago at their first company picnic after having moved to Kirkland. I happened to be out walking the dog, and suddenly saw a ton of people with "Wyze" on their t-shirts and hoodies. I had been following them for a few months, had my first cameras, but no idea the essentially had moved in just down the street from me.
That's what I was thinking too.
I appreciate their appreciation for the journey. Telling true user stories and having a product that is based on a real vision. I support Wyze products because they so clearly share WHY they exist. Even when there are gaps I know that they are out to achieve something I care about and they display a level of effort and detail that I would expect of myself. It's that relatability that you can see in that pursuit that I agree with you.

You guys did one helluva job!!! Kudos to the entire team !! As for battery life, that was indeed quite an engineering challenge.Back in 1962, I worked on a project to use an electronic package that could mount on the back of birds. It had to be under a certain weight so that the bird could fly easily. So I can understand the challenges that your team needed to meet and conquer. I have a suggestion; mount a solar panel/cells on the camera to extend the life of the batteries even longer. Also, it would be great if you could broadcast sound to the camera. Birds are eating all my strawberries and now getting ready to attack the blueberries. If the camera broadcasted the sound of a bird of prey, the berry thieves would get out of Dodge in a hurry. GREAT JOB, I will be ordering !

I've tested a lot of different cameras in my search for the perfect balance of price vs. quality. I got to know about Wyze quite by accident on some TH-cam channel. I decided to buy one internal camera to just dip my toe in the water. The quality and features blew my mind - and i love love love .. that i have to pay no monthly subscriptions or fuss around with it. It just records and does so very clear quality. I additionally love the fact that when i put in a 32GB micro sd card, i am able to record continuously for several days - can't tell you how helpful it is to be able to go back and do a playback on something i want to see in full. I bought 2 more additional internal cameras. Today, i learnt about the outdoor Wyze camera and my camera needs are now complete - just pre-ordered 2 of them - can't wait to get them and test them out. Wyze, i rarely every write to a company - but i'll say .. keep up the good work. You have made something .. dare i say .. that just works perfectly .. cheers.

I have never got excited about a company , but ever since I stumbled upon Wyze products I have been very excited . I love how you share the story ( as you did in this video ) and the struggles of bringing the product to the market. You make us feel as one of the team , that we matter .

Steven Bernardino, it probably won’t work well for you. Needs a hub for internet connection. While it does have an SD card slot, not clear is how it would process motion detection without the internet connection.

Sold! I have 2 indoor cams that I’ve had for 3 years now....not I can complete my home security system. Great job on creating not only some quality tech but also at a sweet price.
Are you going to make a plug in version that way we can have continuous recording and can view live without killing the battery? Because a 12 second clip will show someone walking up to my yard from the furthest point but not in my yard when I could get a actual description of them while they are doing the crime.

Sure, except the indoor v2 camera doesn’t have a suitable IR range for outdoors.
I love this company because they understand the “renegade” nature of their users, encouraging that, and learning from it. Plus, they provide an economical solution in a crowded market. I’ve been impressed enough with their product to stay brand loyal.
finally, I can get rid of my ring spotlight. Few questions:
-How long does the battery last
-are the battery replaceable
-range supported from the base station
According to their website: "2x 2,600 mAh integrated rechargeable batteries last from 3-6 months based on normal usage.*
* Normal usage is 10-20 event videos per day. Battery life varies based on settings, temperature, and usage."
@ant l, word of advice stick with you ring spotlight camera if your having issues with it because it’s battery TRUST ME make the switch to the wired ring spotlight or the stickup cam V2 wired those cameras are fantastic nothing like the battery devices they make THEY ARE AWSOME!!
@@c0p0ut Doesn't sound too good. Naturally the best settings are what most of us want but also what uses up the batteries quicker. So most likely the batteries will last 1 to 2 months. Since the batteries are built-in, that means we'd need to remove the camera from where we have it and bring it home to recharge the batteries. Hours later we'll need to take the camera out and remount, aim and set it just right. Every month, maybe? Rechargeable batteries also don't have a long life so I guess that means that when the batteries go, we'll have to replace the camera (?) So far not very impressive. I hope I'm wrong with some of my assumptions. I'll wait for answers before buying one of these.
Y'all never cease to amaze me. Thank you for being you and staying true to your mission and caring for your customers first! I have a number of smart home products and while they've all been nice, it's been such a hassle going between apps, etc. As you've released more and more products and I've had great experiences with them, I've been slowly migrating all of my smart home tech over to Wyze! It's so convenient and inexpensive. Keep up the good work! We sincerely appreciate it!!

Would love to see a continuous power option or version of the outdoor. Had an older PoE system and then with a use of port+switch and adapter switched some cameras to Wyze v2 with housing while still using the Ethernet wires. With the outdoor not looking forward to getting the ladder out and charging batteries 2-4 times a year.
How can you just not love this company?

i have been using two Wyze cams outdoors for over two years running using aftermarket cover and weatherproof cases for the electrical connections. This is awesome!
One concern though, I know going wire-free comes at a cost of recording only during events but with my current setup of 3 hard wired v2 cams, I have RTSP setup on my VLC player, I'll miss that on the outdoor cams.
You might as well stick to the v2s. I've got them outdoor, and after a year they are still working.
Fantastic, I have been using the original unit for one year on my back porch and it is still working. I will get my outdoor one right away.

there is it's called the indoor camera (V2). i wouldn't trade my 9-V2 outside for these simply because i don't want to have to climb up and remove 9 cameras to charge then climb back up to place them again.
@@wilmer007 The indoor cams outdoors get way too many false alerts, particularly bugs at night. My concern though is the video on the new cams maybe starting too late.
I agree woth Wilmer. You have all kinds of devices that need batteries replaced. Don't need more.
How about you work on improving the app? Playback is horribly slow and buggy.
@@moocow2529 I know, playback used to work fine until last or last two updates. Intervals would appear consistently. Now I have to go into the date in order to see them because using the back arrow just give a "No More" or "Power Off" message. Then you have to try to get back to the previous playbacks.

Wyze is actively working on figuring out how to ship outside the US. For now, if you have a family member or friend from the US, you can have them buy one for you and mail it over.

Once received. Going on my RV for my 3-4 month USA trip
I just bought 2 of these and hour ago, pre order and my heart just SANK when I found out there is no continuous recording option. Wow. I feel cheated. This needs to be addressed prior to launch via software update. Why not make it an option with a warning about battery life depletion?
Though I don't feel "cheated", I agree with you 💯@@% because I ordered 2 as well. Unless something changes before actual receipt, my current plan is to not even open the package and post on eBay.

I don't want to sound rude or what not, but why did you expect a battery powered camera that's 5200mAH to be able to run and record 24/7 it would only last for at most 25 hours and thats best conditions.

I love this company. I have quite a few of their products now. Cameras, bands, scale... All work great and the best part is, they just keep improving them. The band has gotten much better since it first came out. These guys know what they are doing. If they ever go public, I will buy all the shares I can :)

Yes, this is the first thing I thought of. Solar cell or external battery pack (or usb external power source). I don't mean to sound unappreciative, but I need 6 months of battery, minimum, for my application. I run my V2 cams outdoors through Hurricane Michael with very little trouble. Make them affordable enough and I don't need weatherproofing, I will replace every 18 months or so. If there's a built-in solar cell that can keep the battery recharged, that's the perfect solution.
It has an ac charger to charge the camera through the a port in the back so I don’t see a reason you couldn’t adapt a solar panel with this type of plug, just need to the power rating. I’ve seen the solar panel used on other cameras. 👍🏼
The connection for power is micro usb 5volt 2amps
Please send to Canada. Normally I’d pop over the boarder to pick up from the mail box but that can’t happen right now. Oh and thank you WYZE for staying true to your customers. Great products at working man prices.

@Drew Vaxination it functions perfectly mounted upside down , as long as you know how to rotate the video feed on PC . “Flip functionality” … the name fits you , Vax .

The kit comes with a 5 volt 2 amp power adapter to charge the camera so I would think you just leave it plugged in 👍🏼

If it is anything like my V2's it should work great! I have had my V2's outside for 2 years (they are in aftermarket housings) and I have the USB cable going to them. The power supply is indoors but the USB cable goes to the outside and connects to the cameras. Unless you live in an area with gale-force winds the camera will be fine.

So you've made a GoPro with a battery life measured in months instead of minutes and the ability to have your SD card in a remote location. This is going to sell like crazy!
I don't believe you can set up a GoPro and watch it from anywhere you goon you phone. And way cheaper, Don't own one go pro but I don't think they work like that. But do own like 15/20 wyze Cam's. 👍
Battery Life is about 1 Day - but , go pro never made 5,000 limited edition remote control cars . This sh*t is the future .

You can leave it charging 24/7 the only costs it comes with that is
1. avoids warranty
2. avoids the weather proofing
3. it may hurt the battery as you leaving it plugged it in 24/7 will probably stress it out a lot more then what it was made for.
if your fine with a higher chance of it breaking, then I don't see a reason of why not to make it charge 24/7

I’m sold because I just COULD NOT afford Ring and all of them. We have a large house and I wanted to put cameras all around. I didn’t want to tap out my budget at getting one every few months or so. I can get several or maybe all at a time now. I really thank you guys for this!!!

FINALLY!!! I have 4 outside of my house and had to buy the outdoor (aftermarket) housing for them. On top of it I have gotten quite a few friends to do the same. I have even installed them for them and had to drill holes in their houses to bring the cord through. I then had to patch the small holes so no water gets in. I guess in another life I might have been a cable installer. Anyway, I am glad that this is FINALLY here.
As a product manager, it's wonderful to see the journey of Wyze cam outdoor from concept to production. I'm sold and want to give it a try. Congrats to the Wyze team!

Lol! My boss is a software engineer and when I first met them he introduced me to Arlo. I asked him if he had ever heard of Wyze and he hadn’t. Few months later Wyze was the new toy and I remember the dread of putting it outdoors only because he had to drill through dry wall and concrete. I was so impressed when he finally did it. It was clean and now you guys come out with this😂 Good job and congrats! Also, thanks for tweaking the motion because the sunlight and branches were a complete KJ for me

Please listen to your customers on Reddit! A lot of people are fed up with the software and are ditching Wyze. I might as well do the same if you keep on releasing bands and scales and sell masks. Focus on the heart of your company, then you can stray away.

Even the indoor cameras are tough as nails. I have two Wyze cameras that have gone through snow, rain, and dust storms in the Nevada desert and operated through temps ranging from 0F to 105F without a hiccup.

I have been using wyze cam in my truck with internet for a year. I simply use 2 phones. I use one to provide hot spot and the app is on the phone with no cell service, and i just connect to the hot spot, so this is great that now that capability is built in.
Thank you thank you thank you! I have 3 Wyze cams setup outside my house and I had ordered two Arlo pro cams just 2 days ago for high roof corners where wiring is difficult to setup and it's supposed to be delivered today, cancelling that order now to wait and order the outdoor Wyze cam.

Wow! You guys are amazing! I just wish you all would have released a wired outdoor cam for the people that simply want it as a security camera and want that 24/7 recording. Maybe one day...
Yes! Yes! Yes! This design is exactly what i have been waiting for. Every time i started to doubt them they come back with surprises. I have a large property to monitor and no way to plug cameras in, Just amazing.

Thank You! Finally! Side note: next outdoor model shoot for submersible at the drawing board. Will save you time trying to waterproof. There are already engineered submersible case designs available. Just adopt some of design ideas, gaskets, screw tops, etc.
