Hakka is not aborginal. They are actually a subgroup of Han Chinese. So their ancestors were migrants from the mainland.

Thank you for the information. I always thought they were aboriginal because most Taiwanese people have told me since living here Hakka is the biggest aboriginal group. As a westerner living here for so long it’s really interesting and finding out there’s so many Chinese sub groups and languages because back when I lived in England, like most I presumed it was just mandarin and Cantonese.
