It's not a commodore. It's a spec chassis and frame with a spec engine and a commodore body shrunk and shaped to fit over it. If. You put it next to a VF Commodore they look nothing alike and have nothing at all in common. This is why manufacturers abandoned the series over the years, it has zero relevance to their road cars. Then new gen3 cars look to be a step back in the right direction though.
That's a ZB Commodore, they stopped selling them last year, not a real Commodore, fully imported from Germany & the real car you could buy was a fwd/awd with an east/west engine & no V8 option.

His gear shifting was perfectly timed too, no locking on the brakes which is a good thing because Forest Elbow is a tricky corner going downhill because locking your brakes up is more common going into the downhill corners than uphill

Murthy’s Lap Of The Gods wasn’t just a record-breaker, it was 1.1 seconds faster than the next guy. The record has been broken many times since, but there hasn’t yet been another LOTG. Not to take anything away from Chas - that was still an awesome lap.
Yup, what I was gonna say. It's not that the LOTG was just fastest at the time, but the margin to the best racers; Chas' new record is "only" .3 faster than the next guy.
It is always tools for the times. I've seen a lot of good driving for top times and only to not win. Could you just imagine what Peter, Allan, Norm, et-al could have done with these modern, driver adjustable toys?
I hope you can watch the Gen3 go around the track, the camaro looks absolutely stunning, it's sleek and looks almost futuristic and its the same for the mustangs. I can't wait for Bathurst this year, as a kiwi i have to go and root for Shane Van Gisbergen any other time i would back Scott McLaughlin but he's in Indycar atm. Great video as always! When I saw Brodie Kostecki do a 2.03.7733 after Wil Davison put down a 2.04.3648, Kostecki's time was some 0.59 seconds quicker, I thought to myself, that will take some beating. Kostecki's time is astonishing considering he is a rookie, this being his first Shoot Out ! Cameron Waters came out for his lap and beat Brodie Kostecki's time. When Anton De Pasquale went faster again with a 2.03.4785, that was damn impressive. These times kept tumbling and this is when Chas Mostert came out on his charge and set a 2.03.3736. This had to be one of the best Top Ten Shoot Outs ever. Tomorrows race will be one not to miss.
The entire shootout was nuts. 5 racers broke into the 2:03s. Until now, there were maybe 5 total that had done it. Absolute lunacy. The race should be equally excellent.

a mate and i own the joint lap record at Bathurst, in both directions. the joint laps were driving around the course while rolling and smoking joints, i rolled while my mate drove the old Toyota Coaster bus
Mostert actually eclipsed the record of Scott McLaughlan which he set in 2019 qualifying, but McLaughlan’s DJR Ford was disqualified due to irregularities (excessive valve lift) with that engine. Awesome lap by Mostert in qualifying and a great drive by Lee Holdsworth and Mostert in the race on Sunday. So happy Holden won.
I just watched this not long ago! Will Brown think his 21 years older he had the fastest track time off the day yesterday he is a young gun to watch out for! He is paying 10$ to win I hope he makes top 4.

Supercar channel seems to have a whole days live coverage available on TH-cam. But only to people outside Australia and New Zealand with some subscriber limitations. Not sure if payment involved as I have not used it. Using network Sevens coverage from 8:30 am to 7:90 pm. A major free to air station that devotes so much time to the coverage such is the interest in Australia and New Zealand. Even non motor sports people look in a bit or a lot. Seven network invented race cam. Lots of historic clips and driver background in the coverage so far between support races. Race starting about thirteen hours from now.

There was a nascar race at bathurst in the 90s . There was a series, won of the guys worked for me drove in it. You dont understand how good the bathurst supercar drivers really are until you ride a lap of panorama at speed on a motor bike
Jamie Whincup took the Camaro (350cu in) for a spin yesterday, he said it has heaps more acceleration than the current V8's, so next year a 2.02 is on the cards.
The guys that set up that car are beyond competent, Bathurst has everything a track could have, impossible to get the perfect set up yet they managed to do it, mind-blowing
Sequential gearbox vs H pattern, Murph's lap was done with an H pattern. Try getting Chaz to do a similar lap time with that, results would be interesting.

Have to agree with you on that one,apparently they use the E85 to stop that from happening but lately there have been a couple of car's that sent small flames but it doesn't happen a lot.
I couldn’t believe it when kostecki set the first 2.03 for the day, then waters hit it and then chazzy, slade had a 4 flat. Was like 5 cars under 2.04. Loved it! Fastest TTSO ever
Check out Cam Waters shootout lap in his Mustang if you can, he set the time for Mostert to beat.....it was 'on the edge', it was heart in the mouth stuff.....it was truly breathtaking.

Also the S5000 races. Open wheelers are back on the Mountain after so many years. And of course the Trans Am series races. There is also an unveiling segment of the new Gen3 Supercars . One thing you have to take into account is Murphy did it in an older commodore that was a production car modified into a race car whereas mosterts lap is in a purpose built ground up race car.
Chaz is one of the next G.O.A.T's. His crash in 2015 at Bathurst after winning 2014 gave him the knock to the maturity level he needed. I am so keen to see his career blow up and start winning championships!
They stopped making Commodores four years ago yet here is one breaking the fastest lap record in 2021. God I miss Holden.

HRT/888/Walkinshaw have always been a quality team. They nailed the setup, the car looked like it was going slow from the outside

Check out Cam Waters shootout lap in his Mustang if you can, he set the time for Mostert to beat.....it was 'on the edge', it was heart in the mouth stuff.....it was truly breathtaking.

I know you are a fan of the Touring car Masters series. So make sure you watch some of those races. Some great action.
Also the S5000 races. Open wheelers are back on the Mountain after so many years.
And of course the Trans Am series races. There is also an unveiling segment of the new Gen3 Supercars . You will love the look of them.

One thing you have to take into account is Murphy did it in an older commodore that was a production car modified into a race car whereas mosterts lap is in a purpose built ground up race car.
Chaz is one of the next G.O.A.T's. His crash in 2015 at Bathurst after winning 2014 gave him the knock to the maturity level he needed. I am so keen to see his career blow up and start winning championships!
