    Recently, I’ve been binge-watching knife enthusiasts’ videos. This one is the most thought-out, insightful, and intelligent video that I have watched to date. I learned a lot about a knife that I had already researched and now own. I also agree that the first thing to do out of the box with the Freek is to loosen the blade action and replace the clip with a deep carry clip. These simple steps took the Freek from a 4/10 to a 9.5/10. It’s now my EDC.

    I LOVE my super freek. It would probably be my, "If I could only have one knife forever" knife. I have many beloved knives in my collection but this one has always been special. Thanks for the review.

    I finally got one of these, and im impressed. I passed on this for a while, because I had been disappointed In Benchmade quality control. I finally decided to start carrying my bechmades, and see what new "gotta haves" I can find. I finally picked this up, and not only is it an outstanding design, with one of my favorite blade steels, but it came perfect! yes, thats right, perfect. its everything I expect from Benchmade, In the quality control dept. it came with perfect centering, rock solid lock up, and slam shut action. after all that new "grit" was worked out, in less than a day of carrying, its smooth as hell. I really, really wish Benchmade could do this with every knife, but over the years, its been hit and miss. sometimes they come like my superfreek, sometimes they come out of the box a complete disaster.

    Thanks for the thoughtful review. Does the sharpening choil clear the plunge grind? I can't tell from the images if the knife needs a choil modification, the sort of thing that the 940's often need.

    Love my 560 super freek! But it's not perfect. I find myself wishing for flatter scales and a slightly thinner handle.
    Gonna get some aftermarket scales for it.

    After several years into Spyderco and others, mid-range folders. I’ve returned to PM2, M390, as my EDC in one pocket & the other pocket
    The M4 BEAST, “SUPER FREAK”, both of them w/Deep Carry clips from
    MXG GEAR.
    It refreshing that we both have come to the same conclusion having a such
    high opinion on these particular knives.
    I’m hoping the heat-treatments is done perfectly with the Benchmade’s
    “SUPER FREAK”.
    Pls, do a comparison review for
    The Top-Tier EDC
    PM2 vs THE SUPER FREAK!!!
    Thank you for your review.

    I want to use it for hiking, simple food prep, and fishing, so having only carbon steel felt like a missed opportunity; why couldn't they provide the option of stainless steel? I thought.

    Yep and yep. Amazing knife, and I am very picky. And yes, action was crap otb. I do love the way the handle feels and looks. The edge was dull and finished with what appeared to be 50 grit sandpaper or something of that ilk. May I ask, what is your method for less than full disassembly and cleaning/lubing? I was thinking hot soapy water, compressed air, and KPL?

    I like the normal pocket clips on all my knives. I don’t care about deep carry.
    People see you are carrying a knofe anyway with a deep carry, just don’t see as much.
    So for me i don’t mind if a bit sticks out.

    M4 is a rust magnet if using for work or in the field. Use a good protective coating, Sentry Marine Tough Cloth is a start....

    Hey Jake! Purchased my super freek based on your review. It arrived a few days ago and I love it! I noticed, however, that the pivot screw can be literally unscrewed using my finger tip. This is really weird to me! I’m a bit hesitant to use red loctite. I was curious if you had any recommendations or have seen this before? Thanks bud!

    • @zerofivetwelve
      @zerofivetwelve 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It also happened to my super and mini freek. I use blue loctite and adjust the pivot until i get a smooth open and close action. Problem solved.
      Btw. I have many other benchmade models. But this pivot screws problem only happened to freek series.

    • @losdawg6265
      @losdawg6265 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zerofivetwelve Thanks Jake! The blue loctite worked great. I have the Griptillian, 940 and Bugout, and I concur, no issues with any pivots. I hope they get that ironed out on the freek series.
      Keep up the great reviews man. People just like me are entrusting in experts like you to steer us in the right direction. I have recommended your channel to a number of my friends.

    I’m brand new to edc knives and knives in general. But I’ve handled 3 benchmades myself. All within the last 4 months including a custom mini river from their website. All of them had the stiffest action out of the box. I haven’t expierenced any other brand other than Benchmade so I can’t compare.
    The custom mini crooked river, which I love, had by far the worst. Worse than the super freak and mini freak with cf.
    w that said, w the little to zero knowledge I possess in knives, I LOVE Benchmade.
    Basically everything about them, except the action out of the box haha.
    I suppose I should venture out and try another brand. Spyderco seems like the natural answer, however I’m not a fan of the way the blade looks with the hole. You do say “holes are better than studs”‘though so I definitely want to try one out.
    That’ll be next on my list.
    Think I’ve seen all your videos haha. You’re my teaching tool 👍
