    Excellent video Bill. I'll be flying my Cherokee from FFZ to SNA for the first time soon and this was the perfect orientation briefing. Especially like the emphasis on VFR checkpoints and informal "arrival procedures."

    Loved this video. I've flown out of Corona GA and out of SNA commercially. I live in south county and flew almost over the spectrum

    After you land, Tower tells you to turn right and hold short, you have to read that back, then immediately he tells you keep it rolling cross rwy etc...he could have done that in 1 single , save you and himself time... Specially himself

      That was a last-second change of plans to get us crossed before the landing plane. They were on a 1.5 mile final.

    Grew up at SNA. None of this is in the remarks. You’re not expected to know any of this, as you said, it’s non-standard. If you fly normally, they’ll hold your hand and help you out. If you know the hidden rules, even better. I’m just saying this to clarify/demistify a lot of airport’s local tribal knowledge and it’s ok to not know all these hidden procedures airports and their locals have created. If it’s not available on official publications (AIM, remarks, NOTAMs, or the ATIS) it’s shouldn’t be expected to know. That being said, it makes ATC’s lives easier and keeps the nonaviation neighbors happy if you do.

      Whenever going to a new airport it's a good idea to check the airport's website. Lots of very helpful information there. Going SNA especially, regardless whether you checked all of the available information or not, you're going to be sent to one of those waypoints. If you're "unfamiliar" you will be given a heading and vectored to the relevant "arrival" entry point.

    Was that like a continuous turn from the end of downwind then base to final?

    • @Bill4LE
      @Bill4LE  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep! It's a 15° offset final so from the downwind you just keep turning until the offset.
