Have u tried the 2024 reformulation. If so, PLS LEMME KNOW BOUT IT!! I am about to make a huge stylevana purchase to restock on my skincare (cus i dont wanna pay the shipping fee), and am debating between the new skin aqua uv super moisture gel and the nivea super water gel. I would normally just go for the skin aqua, cus it's water+sweat proof and has the top uva and uvb filters, but the new formula (according to several reviews & vids I've seen) has a really shiny finish, while the old one had a natural matte finish and was perfect for oily-combination skin. So, is it also shiny for you, or a better version of the old one, or should I just get the nivea one with pa+++? I can't find any good answer online
@@AdityaRavishankar-qz7ib The 2024 formulation of Skin Aqua’s Super Moisture UV Gel is definitely shiny af on my skin. Nivea is also very shiny and I don’t like how runny it is. Nivea also has the new Super Water Gel EX and Super Water Essence EX which I’m pretty sure are PA++++ and waterproof. Anyway, I got myself Skin Aqua because it was at an amazing price when I was in Japan some months ago.
Thank you for this, Dr. Liu. I’ve personally tried all the sunscreens you’ve mentioned here, but my personal Japanese favorite is OMI Verdio Moisture Gel. No alcohol, no fragrance, and is water resistant. Best part it comes in a generous 220g pump bottle. It does give a dewy finish, but I don’t mind at all.
I use the Nivea sun screen and it is the best sunscreen I found!! It is the only one I don't sweat with when I am walking. Any other cream that I tried I will have huge water droplets of sweat from a 10 min walk and will need to wipe my face 🙈
I'm currently using the Isehan one. I like it. It has a orangy smell. I've really sensitive eyes. It doesn't burn my eyes. It would be better, if they make it water resistant.
Are there any Japanese tinted sunscreens that you would recommend? I would love to see a video about that for us that suffer from melasma and hyperpigmentation.
Great video!, I know they are all 50+ PA++++, but is there any one that you think might be stronger than the others in terms of protection? I'm very pale, and I typically use European Sunscreens, which have great ingredients. Do you think Japanese sunscreens can match the uva protection of a few of the European brands?
I’ve never used European ones, but I’ve never been burned using Japanese/ Korean ones. I prefer Japanese over Korean. I’m super pale, burn easily, and must wear sunscreen every time I go into the sun.
@@LipiLipi-ds6ud Any of the several by Rohto Mentholatum! Hada Labo UV white gel, Super Moisture gel, Skin Aqua tone up in Latte. The Isehan Kiss Me Mommy is phenomenal as well. I prefer them over the more-popular Biore and Nivea sunscreens, but that’s a personal preference!
I'm loving this content but I have to ask you Dr. Liu and to the other folks in the comments, how do you all deal with Asian and European chemical sunscreen filters reacting with your own body chemistry and causing staining in white clothes? I love several of the sunscreens mentioned in this video, but something about the chemical makeup of the sunscreens and of my own body chemistry (especially when I sweat living here in FL) just ruins every white shirt I've ever owned. 🤦🏼♀️
Hi Dr. Jenny, I'm really keen to try the Isehan one since it doesn't have alcohol but i can't use mineral sunscreen as it's too drying. If not mistaken, only zinc oxide is drying? Is titanium oxide drying too (think this is the only mineral ingredient in Isehan)? Thanks!!
Have you talked about adapinoid? I believe it's an adapalene derivative. I first heard about it when Skinfix released their adapinoid gel under their acne line and recently Paula's Choice released their clinical pro retinaldehyde dual-retinoid treatment that contains it.

I love Korean sunscreens, but I’m not usually a super fan of Japanese ones, personally. At least on my face. Japanese sunscreens have so far seemed consistently hell-bent on torching my eyeballs out in a way that I haven’t experienced with Korean or European sunscreens. I think it’s all the alcohol and unnecessary botanical extracts. And gel formulations seem to be the greatest offenders. That said, Japanese sunscreens are some of the cheapest and fastest-drying, so they’re actually my go-to for body SPF. Also worth noting that Japanese sunscreens mostly don’t have expiration dates, which is concerning. So…I’m sure it’s fine most of the time, but…Yeah, to be safe, they will continue to be banished from my face.
Love this Dr Liu, waiting for a video about Japanese haircare:)
Skin Aqua’s Super Moisture UV Gel is what I use every day. I’ve tried a lot of drugstore sunscreens from Japan and this one is my favorite right now.

Skin Aqua hands down. The milk one is the best
It is really hard to find the milk type for some reason. I was in Tokyo this summer and I couldn’t find the UV milk anywhere.😅

Did you try Nivea Uv watery ex or try nevea super sunscreen?
Very good video. Great info.
Absolutely stunning! I'm intrigued to try❤👌
Yay. Glad you covered Japanese Sun Cream.
Nivea in Japan is a joint venture with the Japanese company Kao. So they have different product offerings.

The other Isehan is water resistant, and I love it.
Hi dr jenny liu wonderful vlog thank you for this video ❤😊 xx
My pleasure 😊

I live Kose Japanese spf. Water-resistant. It is gel
Can you please link the shiseido gel also? Please and thank you!
Dr. Can you please do a video on all the anti oxidants we can use in skin care including vitamin c and please suggest some products 🙏
Could you make the Japanese mineral sunscreens video next time? 😊
Yes please!
Yes
Which sunscreen do you recommend for acne prone oily skin?
Honestly all of them are nice and lightweight
@@dr.jennyliu thank you!
Not sure why Kose uv cut didn't make your list?! It is water resistant too, my fav!
It pilled under my makeup, and feels heavy to me. Not a favorite. I used it up on my arms.

Same for my tinted mineral spf, ruined my summer white clothes, lots of them😢
I know it’s really frustrating I usually use a stain remover and the to avoid white blouses lol
