In the mind of a rater, conditional effects always happen. You'll notice that Professor Slate "your spells have poisonous" often does nothing, on most turns he has no effect. Including, for example, turn 3 on curve. But not to these ratings. In their minds, every time you play Professor Slate you also have a spell and your opponent has a big minion. Every Time. He's basically battlecry destroy a minion. And Tickatus comes down on turn 6 milling the opponent.
Logically I know tickatus isn’t amazing, but as a control player who was playing in darkroom fair, that card was miserable to play against, I was so happy the day it rotated.
There was that Discover a Demon It Costs 1 Less in the meta at the time too, which made it even better because 5 is easier to corrupt than 6. There was also that lategame legendary that returned dead Corrupted cards to your hand. It was so stupid and deleted everything even remotely slow from the meta.
@@jaeusa160People that say Tickatus wasn't good must have lived in a different timeline, Control Players complained the most, some of them quit the game or moved to aggro decks like Aggro DH because as you said there was no point to build a late game plan if you played against Warlock

I think the tickatus comment is referring to the felosephy card that let you duplicate it in hand then of course you yashaar those three tickatus to burn 30 cards
This vould easily be a mini series you do for every expansion. Wait a few months and then do this video format/concept with the newest cards. I would love this
Sup Rarran! Have a video idea for you... I was thinking it would be fun if you and another creator played bingo in HS. You each have your own bingo card with different things you need to get in packs. For example, the same mana and stats, a legendary, all cards are from different expansions in a pack, name of the card contains 4 words. And the one that finish the entire card first or most of it wins. Hope you see this and love your content man! Take care
Watching videos like this is so unqiuely entertaining as being someone that has never actually played hearthstone because I don't know how good any of the cards were in their meta so at first glance I rate the card myself which is in every way that matters the same thing as rating the card before it comes out
Thing you guys missed on plague of murlocs compared to devolve is that devolve leaves them with big cost minions if their board was already big cost minions. In theory, plague turns them all into small guys, so the bigger the enemy board, the better it gets compared to devolve. On release, a control Shaman to use it didn't really exist otherwise it would have been better than devolve at that point. Over time, bigger murlocs kept getting released, so that upside over devolve was eaten away.
For the Ticketus, I believe at the time there were a decently high number of combo decks out there. And Ticketus would sometimes just shit on those decks by milling a combo piece. So even though that wasn't often enough to make Ticketus actually good, the fact that it sometimes single-handedly won you the game made people rate it way higher.
Uther of the ebon blade is now an utter monster in wild. Once it's out all you need is the 1/4 and garrison commander and then tap your hero power twice for an uninteractive otk.
Yeah, I remember having been in that side and I ranked cards based on how I liked them. This is a 5-star meme tech-card for me; I love it. In any case, this doesn’t dismiss the moldy-wood tier skills of the average HS enthusiast in judging and predicting the strength of new cards.
Funny that quite a few of these cards Kibler made them work. And those old videos are what brought me back to HS after 5 years of AFK. Tesspionage, Galvadon with BGM, Plot Twist WL, fun at hell. Now that I think about it, there’s nothing quite like that that Kibler is doing recently as the meta is so boring. You play the good cards to win or you play the meme cards and lose.
All power to you! But I find it interesting to hear. I find them super boring; it’s just weird minor buffing stuff as a reward for so much work. I like it flashier! 😅
When tickatus was put into standard initially, control priest and warrior that played for fatigue were still in the dying phases but playable. Tickatus was a polarizing card that said "win the game" in those matchups, and in the mirror, whoever drew and played tickatus first often just won the match. Saying it was actually bad in standard is just... wrong. Bad in wild maybe, bad against aggro maybe, but it was a very powerful card in the meta
Also on lifecoach leaving.. it wasn't because the power level of the quest per se, but rather the design philosophy. If it's good you get a lot of games that look exactly the same, quest into 1 cost creature spam->carnassus->raptor spam. If it's bad it's a useless legendary you dust and feel shit about opening.
@BernieDSniper yeah, I was a priest only player until KotFT, and still played about 70% priest after that; prior to KotFT I exclusively played value control priest decks, after that I mostly played for inner fire combo deck lists and was rank 1 legend multiple times. Trying to have fun with a value deck early into monthly reset felt miserable while tickatus was around Edit: similarly to life coach I quit when I saw united in storm wind card reveal because I hated the quest meta, and questlines looked like even more deck defining and powerful quests
@heracles9595 just to be clear in less words for you; most players play aggro. This card had a very negative winrate against aggro matchups. This card had an overall fairly negative winrate. But it's played winrate in 4 meta matchups was over 90% Bad design.
I think this could be a really fun price is right type game with multiple creators, where they try and guess the ranking, getting the closest but not going over.
31:30 I'm pretty sure back then Healing was the best Forbidden card. Ritual might have been played but Healing was like Reno before Reno. It was dead tempo but against aggro it could win the game.
hot take but forbidden ritual was not the best forbidden card. it saw play in zoolock a bit but forbidden healing was the better card, control paladin either with nzoth in wotog or anyfin in gadgetzan both ran two copies of healing, the 20 point life swing is so much better than some 1/1s when you dont need many flexible cost cards in warlock because of life tap
@@YMasterScompletely disagree, forbidden healing saw play in nzoth paladin the whole time and it was always at least a tier 2 deck while the other forbidden were cut at most a month in

11:40 regarding Platebreaker we need to consider the fact that card reviews (at least on the websites) are not supposed to say how much card will be played but how good it is. Platebreaker is a super unique effect in Hearthstone that has ton of potential to be the key card in a right meta. Unlike weapon tech there is not ton of other options for this effect. While I don’t follow hearthstone too much there is a similar example of this in magic happening right now. Suncleanser is a card allowing you to remove energy from your opponent (only well costed card to do so in Modern currently). It was a joke for last 6 years, but now it is a key sideboard card that allows the broken Nadu deck flip around its worst matchup.
The issue is Platebreaker costs WAY too much to be a tech card only viable in like....2 match ups. The reason Ooze (now Viper) can see play despite being useless against say Priest, Mage, etc. is because at worst you get a cheap vanilla statted minion for tempo. Platebreaker is bad stats for the cost and costs 5.
This format is very fun, but I think it would be more tense when you would get points based on the difference between the guess and the card rating. This way you could have huge swing turns if you miss. Also would need to change to rate X cards instead of first to X points.

Rarran not playing the game when snowfall guardian was released makes a lot of sense for not putting it in his top 100. i brought up this card in his stream and he said it was ok not that great when it was released it was one of the best cards ever printed it needed nerfed twice. You would lock out a board twice cause you could have two copies get 13/13s or wev and if the opponent dealt with those you would just shudderwock. It was soooooo broken and is a WAY better card and more impactful than patches ever was. i never lost a game because of a 1/1, yes the card was in every aggro deck because thinning your deck and getting a free card is useful but a 1/1 token is not very impactful in the long run of the game.

The lowtiergod edit lmao
Was Tickatus really bad as a turn 5 8/8 with coin?
6:30 Is that Il Siracusano's Lobby theme I ear in the background? Didn't know Rarran knew Arknights. Great taste BTW
I think you guys forgot how easy it was to copy and get multiple copies of tickatus at the time. Thats why people hated him
Green jelly was pretty good for arena
16 times i was closer than both of you. Either being a bad player is an advantage here or i can just get into the head of most people better.
I like this series
