  • @DRmakeupgirl
    @DRmakeupgirl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You didn't include ch 1 in the written instructions to start each round. I'm new to amigurumi. This will be my first project. I'm one of those crocheters who are dependent on a written pattern even though your video is very well done.

    • @ShinyCrochet
      @ShinyCrochet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, I do have some variance between the written and video patterns, as they were made at very different times. The written pattern was very short hand, expecting the reader to have a level of experience, while the video was directed to more of a beginner.

    • @DRmakeupgirl
      @DRmakeupgirl 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ShinyCrochet I have zero experience when it comes to amigurumi but I had watched a couple other videos before finding yours and they're was a ch1. I did rewind the video and heard you say as I read the cc to ch1. So it was an error on my part I guess. I do have a question about the stuffing though....would cotton balls work the same for stuffing?

    • @ShinyCrochet
      @ShinyCrochet  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, fair enough. :) For stuffing, you can use pretty much anything. Trial and error will be your best bet with whether something works or not, because your idea of what works may be different to someone else's. My only worry with cotton balls would be they would be ruined by washing. So if it's something that won't be washed, that'll be fine, but if it is then good be mindful of. You may find it helps to pull them apart a bit too, otherwise it may be lumpy. But as always, trial and see how it goes.

    • @DRmakeupgirl
      @DRmakeupgirl 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ShinyCrochet I'm making the turtles for a baby mobile (another thing I'm new at). Hadn't thought of washing them. Do you wash things like that?

    • @ShinyCrochet
      @ShinyCrochet  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have no idea 😅 I would suggest getting a small bag if polyfill stuffing (or sacrificing an old stuffy) in that case, just to be safe.

    • @ShinyCrochet
      @ShinyCrochet  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure what step you're on for this happening, but you may be counting the slip stitch space as a stitch? That loop and where it connects is just for setup/changing rows, so you don't count it. I hope that helps?

    • @ShinyCrochet
      @ShinyCrochet  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Linda, any 8ply yarn will do the trick. ^_^

  • @fishingfourme
    @fishingfourme 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Shiny, bit confused on yarn size, 8 ply? Would this be US Worcester? DK UNited Kingdom? The last time I tried to work this out I had to wrap around a ruler to see how many wraps I got. Thanks Bob…

    • @ShinyCrochet
      @ShinyCrochet  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, 8 ply is also known as DK. You may need to size up or down your hook depending on the particular brand as each yarn can work up differently. This pattern is pretty flexible though, just check it once you have finished all the increases.

  • @bethquinton5414
    @bethquinton5414 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    How do I use this pattern but make it bigger

    • @ShinyCrochet
      @ShinyCrochet  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Beth, it depends on how much bigger you want it. Using thicker yarn / two strands of 8 ply with a larger hook makes it larger. Otherwise, you can do more rounds of increases for each part, keeping the pieces to scale with each other.
      I've been started working on a pattern for a jumbo turtle, but it's slow going right now and will still be a little while before it's a video.

    • @ShinyCrochet
      @ShinyCrochet  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2
