You should invest in the Fumoto oil drain valve for quick and easy oil changes.

3k every oil change is normal. I had a VA and that was what I usually went with and I got 70k miles on it no trouble. I was not tuned on it tho. The vb I plan to tune, but 3k even on a tune like you are should be fine from what I have been reading.

I say they do have an easy way to change the oil filter instead at the bottom that I hate doing.

Completely agree! This is my first Subaru so I’m really impressed with how easy oil changes are.
