It's what really impresses me about these vids. The ability of the actors to match the cadence of the narrator AND recite the lines correctly AND make it look natural AND keep the pace back and forth with other actors. That's skill my friend, and that's impressive.
I'm not a 100% sure, but what I think they did is first shoot the live action footage, then dub it over in the studio. Maybe have a pre-recorded track on set so the actors know how they are supposed to talk? That's my guess.
timrob12 It's the other way around. Record drunk first ,then mouth to loud speaker. How could you get the drunk to say what the mouth has already recorded?
My favorite thing about this story is why the girls kept it up for so long. Apparently, they didn't do it for fame or money or anything, they were just too embarrassed to come out with it after all the fuss. It would just be super awkward to just be like "yeah, those are paper cut-outs and you're all idiots" after all of these grown, rational-thinking adults were completely fooled by it. And honestly? Mood.
I find it so mind blowing that the man who created one of the most rational and logical fictional characters in history also believed in spirits, fairies, etc... .
these drunk history stories are funny when you know the actual story before watching them. I was laughing at the girls when they're like "could you just go and... fuck off" hahaha
Pfft, she claims they were fake on their deathbed, no reason to believe she was telling the truth then. Mind you, we know they are fake because fairies don't have wings.
As a corgi owner, I loved when I learned about the Welsh myth that fairies used to ride corgis. Would explain why my little guy is so pushy about food - he’s been busy transporting Tinkerbell all day. 😂
I didn't know the story until I saw the video. Comparing the original images used by the cousins with those they created, you can see that each fairy was created with dedication. With or without the lie, these photographs had the same potential to start a trend. Especially if the girls had the opportunity to say that the inspiration came because, at some earlier point in their lives, they actually believed they saw fairies.
Why are these not being put on the U.S. series? I mean, I love a story about a civil war hero as much as the next guy, but a little variety is nice too.
The lip-sync was golden in this!

timrob12 holy shit of course that's how they do it ffs 😂🤦🏻♀️

The first Photoshopping Trolls.
Better than the two little girls who started the Salem witch trials because they were bored.
Red04 are we really trying to act like that’s actually what happened when it was a large factor of things
Yup, but fairies are real nonetheless....
@@Thesortvokter sure mate 🎉😂
Gotta be honest. I saw Catherine Tate in the thumbnail, next thing I knew I was watching this video
Same!
Belanca Rosier Yup. Same here.
Same
same!
and then i saw charlotte ritchie brilliant!
Yep its dona nobel 🤗

Witch trial vibes

Me too...again and again I find humanity so confusing- and brutally, cataclysmically disappointing.
Don't feel bad, it only gets worse as you get older.
Arthur Conan-Doyle was also behind the piltdown man hoax, he was a bit of a prankster.
omg hey there - yep. Amidst all we could be and sometimes are... yep. You said it :(
Having big and somewhat crazy imagination helps in being creative
I do believe in fairies. I do. I do.
omg!! such a strong nostalgia to think of this film again:,))
Better start clapping too, because fairies are hella fake!
I never want to meet a fairy, if you know anything about the original tales of fairies you know why.
NEGUS MBARKA it’s from a movie
TheGolden WildCat I was going to do that darn it
these drunk history stories are funny when you know the actual story before watching them. I was laughing at the girls when they're like "could you just go and... fuck off" hahaha
but of course we all know that is literally what happened ;) this is solid gold
Marcus Butler and Catherine Tate. Bloody brilliant.
Emma x c
IKR? fantastic !
i spotted marcus and was like woahhhhh no flipping way haven’t seen him in a whike

kitsilanocat J. Ugju
kitsilanocat sorry I didn't mean to do that😂
Olivia_rez u
They end up disrespecting her family when they call her a fraud. Wish I could see the look on her face.
Yessss!! Lauren Cooper isn't taking that bullsh*t loll 😂
"What's this? Pictures of... FAIRY GODPARENTS!"
ADDMcGee25 TIMMMMMMYYYYYYY
🤣🤣🤣😭
DINKLEBERG!
Donna Noble, is that you???
yes! Catherine Tate
Donnnnaaa
My guess, it's auditioning.
Doctor Donna if you please :)
Girlie Arizona That what I️ thought!
Watching this for the first time in 2022 and I was like "Oh, that's Alison from Ghosts!" What a legend, love her :)
And when one of those girls was in their death bed she admitted that the photos were fake
I thought she did it in an interview
@@student8663 Yeah a interview on her death bed..
Can't believe she told :(
Could u imagine if she'd had the heart to shut up for just five more min? Imagine the hope! Can't have that can we.
Pfft, she claims they were fake on their deathbed, no reason to believe she was telling the truth then. Mind you, we know they are fake because fairies don't have wings.
Here because of Catherine Tate on the thumbnail.
That time the Doctor and Donna got drunk in the Tardis...
Yasssss
That would be awesome! Or just something with David Tennant and Catherine Tate in general!
Funny I just watched a doctor who episode with Donna tonight and then saw this haha
and decided to make a hoax to mess with people.
Haha yes! Lol
I thought watching Drunk History about American History was great but this is equally just as brilliant.
Rachel Frumkin well the UK does have more history.... 😏
I love them both... They are hilarious.
everyone's like "donna!!" "marcus butler!!" and i'm like "oregon!!!"
I was trying to work out where I recognised her from, thanks sooo much
Yeah Lily! She's so fucking adorable when she's pissed...
YES. THANK YOU. THAT'S WHERE SHE'S FROM.
That was the worst show I ever watched start to end.
And I am here, 5 years later: "Allison! You should know ghosts are real, so why can't fairies be real??"
As a corgi owner, I loved when I learned about the Welsh myth that fairies used to ride corgis. Would explain why my little guy is so pushy about food - he’s been busy transporting Tinkerbell all day. 😂
All i can see now is that guy walking up to them and being like 'hello' and both Catherine and Mathew go 'aaa'riiight'
Girls: "AAAH! Who are you?"
Edward: "I'm the doctor."
I don't know about fairies, but I believe in watching anything that Catherine Tate is in!
Arthur Conan Doyle was NOT a rationalist. He originally wrote Sherlock Holmes as the "fool" who always had to rely upon facts and evidence.
I want to cry...
I was a bit confused when she described him as a rationalist and then a spiritualist that believed in fairies.
@@WargasmoTo be fair Charlotte Ritchie has just had four pints of lager and a bottle of white wine.
This may be my favorite episode _ever_
im taking a few moments to appreciate how many amazing comics are in this video
Ikr?
"Jabba the Hutt can be real." XD XD
That was awesome
Is that Marcus Butler at the start?😳❤️❤️❤️
Yes it is. He has acted in quite a few drunk history sketches
Yep! :?
I thought the title was "Are Fairies Drunk? Real history"
This is by far my favorite Drunk History clip
Best drunk history ever!
The whole Cottingley Fairies Drunk History segment is my favourite Drunk History bit EVER. U.S./U.K. - doesn't matter. Absolutely hilarious.
oh mY GOD how did i not realize that there's a whole host of comedy central uk vids on here
"FUCK, ING YEEEEEESS!!! FAIries are real!"
Mathew Horne looks weirdly good as a woman
Turns out Gavlar looks pretty good in a dress ;)
oi +Alice woz you on ere 5 months ago? Bloody 'ell. Fancy that!
I thought it was Eraser. Lol.
Omg she's adorbs.
do you mean Charlotte Ritchie? Isn't she the cutest drunk ever?
CATHERINE TATE AHHHH
Sorry I'm a whovian 😂
Haley Rose do not apologize for recognizing Donna. I don't care that this was a month ago. She cannot, herself, remember, so it's up to us!
chaos thankyou lol
I love how the actors just act out how the narrator says even when the narrator doesn't actually mean to include that in the scene..thing.
Nurse Gilbert, Marcus butler and Catherine Tate this is the fucking shit!
I fucking died when I saw that one of the girls was Catherine Tate! X'D Love her so much.
BARBARA I MISS YOU.
I CRIED FOR THREE HOURS STRAIGHT WHEN YOU DIED
this is my favorite of the British ones.
I have a huge crush on this story teller.
I like the premise of doing a British Drunk History, but the storytellers don't seem drunk enough... that's like the best part of the whole thing
I think Oregon holds her liquor very well. And is adorable doing it
Brits get 3 more years practice of holding their liquor than 'Murcans.
"Jabba the Hutt can be real!" 😂😂😂
Can someone explain how the girls got the fairy pictures on their photos in the first place?
they just put little paper drawings next to them and took the pictures...one of them acutally told this before she died
Pauley The other one still believed in them for the rest of her days.
Course you’d see them on your way back from the tavern
Pauley Yep. I think she mentioned she copied the drawings from a children's book she had
Ferries are real! I rode on one to Vashon Island last summer.
This girl telling the story is the ultimate British woman. Beautiful.
I didn't know what I was expecting when I clicked on this video, but Marcus Butler wasn't it 😂💕
Nurse Barbara, is that you?! Never been so excited
this narrator is amazing omg
Track down a UK show about student life called Fresh Meat. It's great
This was the best one yet
Emily Anne we literally have the same name on our accounts
This just..filled me with so much joy? I love it
This one has a great cast
I love Charlotte's vintage-y dress! Also, this is hilar.
Wow!!! Charlotte Ritchie ( Zoe Castillo and Lin) and Catherine Tate (Donna) awesome combo!!!!!
"Ah Sh**t F**K do you remember that?" LOL
Yay for Catherine Tate. :)
So true. She made it her own:)
Watching Drunk History Drunk. Brill.
Marcus Butler and Catherine Tate....brilliant.....need more .
Marcus butler!!!
+Katie Mu Yeeesss
+Katie Mu I was like Hellllllooooooo Marcus! Odd to see you here!
That's that woman! From Ghosts!
*hurrah!*
Came for Donna, stayed for Barbara!
I've only ever seen her in Call the Midwife . Made it soo much funnier hearing her curse like a drunken sailor
Finally! History lectures worth listening to!
Matt Horne!!! Such a good actor!!
And a pretty one too, it turns out ;)
Is that Catherine Tate?!?! Donna is that you?!?!
Jaime Morales It is!
Is it weird I heard every line Catherine Tate mouthed in her own voice?
DONNA NOBLE
Vod would be proud lol
"I feel very passionatly About fairies" - I know it's wrong, but it made me laugh :)
Lol this prank can't be topped
jabba the hut HAHAHA
Is that Marcus butler 😂
Oh I loved this one SO much!
My favorite one yet i think ❤❤❤

I haven’t watched Marcus Butler in like 3 years. Glad to see he’s moving up in the world
I absolutely loved this.
This is my favourite
OMG I WAS N O T EXPECTING CATHERINE TATE I LOVE HER
I remember seeing these photos as a kid and thinking, how did everyone not immediately realize those faeries are clearly paper?
Shaquel Frazer and Lauren Cooper in the same room? Oh no 😂
Oh my god this is brilliant!
Is that Alison from Ghosts ? Is this how she started working with Matt baynton ?
Catherine Tate in the thumbnail telling me Fairies are real, what a liberty, but I'm here, and of course they are lol
Lady Cottingtons pressed fairy book. One of my favourites when I was younger.
Well done
I've always loved this story!
This happened in Cottingley which is 10 minutes away from where I live!
I loved this one!
Donna knoble has left the library
Donna knoble has been saved
this shows rocks..love it
I love this!
Why are these not being put on the U.S. series? I mean, I love a story about a civil war hero as much as the next guy, but a little variety is nice too.
LOL this one is great
*flips a table*
The first words out of your mouth should have been CATHERINE TATE, Description! CATHERINE TATE! Way to bury the lead.
Is there a full episode of this somewhere?
Where do I find the rest of this episode?! Please help someone.. I need to know how it ends and I dont want to google it and ruin it...
Is that Gavin Shipman in a wig epic
3:21 is so cute omg lol
