I want you to know you're literally improving the entire Tekken 8 online experience at-large by reducing the friction separating intermediate level players from higher level play. I am BEGGING you to keep making videos like these.
I've lost to hwoarang so many times with the "blender" shit he did and I had no idea why. Now, I still lose to such Hwoarang players, but I know why. Excellent video.
Old Tekken player here and I gotta say I'm blown away by this guide. Really wish we had this kinda stuff back in Tekken Tag 2 days. You're honestly top 5 best Tekken creators right now with phidx.
The edit @3:48 is gold, my exact thoughts every time I face a Hwo in ranked 🤣🤣. Great video, will try to practice and slowly implement some of this in my matches. Tekken 8 is the first fighting game I'm really trying to get better at and your videos have been a great help. Love you attitude of always looking for things you can improve on.
My friend is almost red ranks and all he does is pick hwoarang and press 3 and 4 randomly and occasionally toggles on special style to spam power crushes 😂 everyone who plays him must feel like this
Even if I wasn’t a Reina main, I would still watch these videos. Analysis and adjustment is what I’m trying to do right now. The character specific guides from you are just bonuses.
As a Hwo main since early Tekken days, this video was perfection 😂 phenomenal detail. My biggest issue with USING him is many of his moves are so easily punishable.
Not really. It's some basics for beginners and then he didn't cover nearly all of them. Didn't cover that it's better to SWL hwoarang in neutral and not SWR, because if you SWR, you will get hit by JFSR. Didn't cover main transitions into flamingo spam: 1,2,3~f and 1,2,4~f and the options from LFS and RFS in those situations and how to beat them. From 1,2,3~f 1,2,4~f you can interrupt pretty much everything except for RFS f+4,4 and you trade with a jab from 1,2,3~f,LFS1. But then they're taking a risk of getting launched if they do RFS f+4,4 and jabs if you decide to do SSR,d/f+2 and only 1 out of 1000 hwoarang players will know this and it will be a tournament player. Everyone else just stops pressing after 1,2. Now you simply don't deal with that situation because they won't use this move against you any more because they don't even know they can win it. Then from f+3~f+3~f when he's +4 on block he can only do jabs to interrupt you. In this case mashing works again against pretty much all attack moves except jabs, and then you can also do SSR~i10 punish to basically beat all options from LFS from this move. d+3,4 situation isn't covered at all. Like, for example, that if they do d+3,4, 3+4, LFS d+3,4 you can kinda twitch-react to that and mash your i10 and interrupt Hwo from doing that to you. And those are situations from the top of my head. There are many more that aren't covered. Kinda full Anti-hwo guide with explanations that make sense would be around 3-4 hours long.
@@KulaGGin Damn, my man. It’s all good. He obviously did not cover the whole moves set because that’d be ridiculous, but he covered some well used Hwo’s moves across most players.
@@Asdfgdwfbjy _" im not sure if you can ssr df2 against 1,2,4 rfs f4,4"_ You can't. The _"and jabs if you decide to do SSR,d/f+2 "_ is only about jabs, not RFS f+4,4.
Just faced a keepout heavy Hwoarang and this is exactly what I needed 😂 absolutely loving your content bro, especially as someone just picking up Reina. Keep it up and thank you so much! One potential suggestion: I think it would be extra helpful in an analysis video like this to have the Show Frame Advantage setting on during the replay. That way it helps (1) highlight the areas where the enemy is doing the particular unsafe/punishable moves that are the subject of the analysis, but also to (2) show off the frames and decisions that make up your strong offense. That ability to stay in frame while being offensive is something I’m working on myself and having that frame display would be really helpful in that regard 😅 just an idea though! Thanks for all your work!
The fact that you help us all (The Reina Community) while demoting a Hwoarang is so satisfying. Thanks for the video, it will improve my game, hopefully
this match-up guide is perfect. You are doing a great job teaching us every single aspect of Reina's game plan and now with this character specific counter guide you are going beyond. Thank you very much. I can't wait to see the next video.
Absolutely love that you're telling people to sidestep block. So many people don't realize that you can keep your sidesteps (mostly) safe if you hold back right after the evasion.
A buddy of mine and I just started getting into tekken, I'm maining Reina and he's maining Hwoarang, so this video is perfect. He's slowly getting more and more aggressive with him so seeing this came at the perfect time.
The entire match I was thinking what the Hwoarang player could've done better lmao. But good job with the video. He's a complex character to explain generally like that.
This is a really good video, particularly because of the gameplay analysis. It is good to know what you can do against something in theory, but it helps so much to actually see it highlighted in practice.
Watched a ton of Counter guides and not a single one comes to close to this one in terms of quality and clarity. Would be amazing if you could do guides like this for every character!
I liked a lot as a hwo main. I hope more videos likes this. Like u can make a series any char Vs hwoarang and ur commentaries. The replay in control play was brutal!!!!
A big tipp. Some chars like steve, king and reina have a full crouch high crush launcher. Usually you have to wait for the highs in the strings to finish before punishing, but with those high crushing punishers, you can just immediately punish. It makes the matchup almost a guaranteed win until like fujin
I think as a general rule of thumb for defense against hworang you can fuzzy low -> standing, most of his strings go low - > mid/high and if he chooses to cancel and do a launcher there's usually a noticable wait/delay, which is reactable by standing up. In short, it's kind of the opposite of defense versus most characters where you want to fuzzy stand->low.
Sir, this was one piece of excellent work. Thank you for the insights. I am not a Mishima player but discovered you as I am playing around with Reina, and remains to your channel for how well done is the rythm and the information of your videos.
The best anti character guide to date, please don't stop coach 🙏, Kazuya mains needs you , we are getting destroyed by other characters even when played by new players, Tk8 is so crazy
I'm almost surprised to see you with Reina. Some view her as a Heihachi replacement but I found that her stance-based pressure was so different, and her aesthetic so much less impressive, that I had no interest in touching her and have moved from Kaz/Hei to Kaz [who's suffering from his own problems]/Jin/DVJ. Great guide; I think you put together the best and pithiest guides of any channel.
You are a hero man. This video was amazing at showing what to do and how it improve. Because of you I've gotten to Tenryu which is higher than i ever thought I'd get. Would love to see tips against Bryan even if its less in depth.
Very good guide. Thank you. I met my first T8 Hwo yesterday and it appeared he got a new homing move from his bird stance. Also it's harder to keep calm with the accumulating chip damage. I really hate this guy since T5 because my defensive options up close always very limited. In T7, I relied on SS punish after blocking a specific move. Now I need to relearn.
Hwo having +8 on block strings is absolutely crazy. And his flamingo stance kicks being safe too. Namco be smoking crack with this one. Thank you for this guide, I suck at sidestep but at least I know when not to press buttons
Only got to watch this for a minute before getting matched with a hwoarang, all i can say is that the first minute of when to launch hiss asss was all i needed lol
Perfect video, I needed this. But I have to say, when you put that yelling Marmot in there, I had to pause because I was laughing so hard. Not only because that video is funny AF, but because the blender sucks to be in.
As a Hworang main i am happy to see this breakdown. Remember folks even videos against your own main will help you improve and inovate. Cant wait to get slapped :3
