This is a pretty good intro to some basic Hwoarang moves, and I like this guide series, but it would have been nice to include some counter examples like you did in the Victor video. One of Hwoarang's most important moves in T8 for approach is RFF d/f3, which is +1 on block, homing, low crushes, and does pretty good chip damage. The downside being it's very slow startup and at only +1 on block folks can usually take their turn in many ways after it's done, it looks more + on block visually than it really is. That would be worth at least mentioning in your intro section where you talk about how you can just sidestep/sidewalk his approach tools. Nice video overall!
As a Hwo main, I’m gonna tell you rn. To close gap at a higher level it’s a mix between rff df3 (Homing mid that is plus on block and is a heat engager) or Df4(Homing) or Ff4. If an opponent is hard sidestepping in neutral against a Hwo. It’s usually a free round.
1:30 is like gold for new players literally all of then will keep spamming it if you didn’t know how to punish happened for me countless times when I first started playing the game
Solid guide, but I'd say once you enter ruler (purple) ranks this doesn't apply as much. People aren't gap closing with wr 3, sometimes ff3 but mostly df3 in right stance which is plus on block, then into a string. Also he does have a few strings, especially in right stance that are more devistanting against players that block lows. If I see someone is ducking all my highs then I'll mix up into those mid strings. But yeah, very good for guys stuck in orange and red ranks.
@@Bullet-Tooth-Tony- solid name by the way, but generally i don't like any character where the enemy can seemingly be mashing and i can have literally 0 idea what's going on, though in king's case it's just throw abuse and b+4 being cheap
As early fujin Hwo main i can confirm thats why i dont do my full set and stoping when Im plus or safe when I see them ducking in the right time, hwoarangs should be hella agressive and know how to bait the opponent so if they holding back all the time we need to rush or be close to them some how we have to ... there is no other way xD so this guide could work in greens to early purple after that hwoarang mains will be a bit different in my experiences at least.
As a hwo main I learned very early in red ranks WR attacks are basically useless from then on and I basically never use them anymore in neutral game. Only to try to catch out oki. It really helped me get out of red rank hell stopping those lmao
There's a lot more to every character, but these are the common tools. You do not need to go through every move in the move list if your opponent is only ever using 6 moves over and over.
@@liabilitylinda3501 actually im talking about high level hwo and hes so different than beginner level like the just frame sky rocket or advanced frame traps setups
Flame Ruler Hwo here. Some important advice I think is missing. Hwo also has RFF df3, which is +1 on block and tracks, and is a mid heat engager and has really long reach. It's kinda telegraphed cuz he only gets it in RFF, but still, its important for getting in, so make sure not always sidestep when you see him switch to RFF. Hwo's throw game wasn't mentioned here, but it is important to know that, while he has a complete throw game, he can only threaten 1+2 breaks while in flamingo or RFF. Hwo's most powerful options on offense are generally highs and lows. His mids are either slower, give worse frames, or both. You'll never escape his offense if you don't duck to force him to pick worse options. His mids are fixed with Just Frame Skyrocket but most Hwo's, myself included, can't do it super consistently.
Hwo's lows are now not threatening at all outside of heat because he has no low launchers, low knockdowns or chunky lows like a hatchet style kick. You must not block low mindlessly. Also small typo in your comment. RFF DF3* 🤙
I really enjoy your channel, and these videos are amazing. I do, however, think it's terrible advice to "just duck and launch" d44 and d34. That's not how you deal with those moves. It's like saying just duck and launch grabs. Well, you'll be open to mids then, which is even scarier. You should only duck these if you have a read because they are unreactable. If you don't want to go into too much detail, then that's fine, but then you should just drop d34 or inform players that they are in such a disadvantageous mixup that they should take the 50/50 instead like you did and leave it at that. Anyway, keep it coming, it's good work you do.
Keep in mind everyone other than Mr. Sindox cuz I’m sure he knows, this is primarily anti beginner & intermediate Hwo’s he’s helping you with. I higher level Hwo may still do some of this but it won’t be mindless nonsense. Sometimes they’ll throw stuff out as knowledge checks but otherwise a lot of these moves & starts start to go away around the purple ranks.
@@xiSyndox I actually mentioned your channel to my spouse lol. hwoarang has a follup on b+34 if you do ws launch they has a counterhit launcher, idk what the name of moves but the moves looks like donald duck doing 1000 kick on the air lmao, i think the best option for this mixup just do the dickjab to stop their pressure, nice tutorial btw thank you so muchh
You do not make guides like telling people to block unseeble low (d+3,4). That's the pure guessing and 50-50. But otherwise nice videos. You have a sub and like for all counter guides :)
You forgot to mention right flaming d+4,3,4. The last hit is a high and is not a true combo unless he's in heat, but lower level Hwoarangs like to finish the whole string even if not in heat. So duck and launch.
So just curious, against one that knows what they're doing and is defensively sound, what you gonna do then? When they're patient/fundamentally sound it's a whole another ball game because standing that far back sounds all good and dandy till you wiff a poke and eat A b3 combo such as B3, F4, 3~4, U3, UF3+4, UF4, Dash 3+4, 3~4, HB, FF2, HD FFF3 for 93 damage or press on any of his D4 frame traps and get launched for similar damage. Also if they know you're trying to duck highs just know it's very easy to bait someone into eating a frame trapped or even raw df2/B3 the second your head drops and getting launched so just keep that in mind. These tips will however work on most hwoarangs like red rank or lower who haven't learned how to use him yet and for that good riddence. They make us all look bad and deserve to be free ranked points lol
these are the basic moves. can you make an advanced anti-hwoarang? like RS df+3 plus frame you could also discuss what are the best response after his d+3,4 because let's face it, it's gonna hit almost all the time because no one crouches a lot and he also has a df1,3 alternative which is almost the same as d+3,4
His RFF df3 is only +1 on block despite the huge guard stun. You can do a short SWL into a block most of his common moves after that like these options from RFF: df1 df1+2 f3 3 JFSR f4~4 df4f b2 d34 db3 d3+4 However these options from RFF 2 23 24(2nd hit tracks SW both sides) b3 df2 db4 f1+2 can track SSL and SWL. After d34 you basically fcked and just have to guess since its +14g on hit. Generally stand guard since his mids are much scarier than his lows. Only duck/low parry if you have a hard read he will go for a low. RFS b3 is a safe mid heat engage. RFS 3~4 is like -2 on block knockdown mid. RFS df4 is +1 on block mid CH launcher. RFS uf4 is a -13 on block hopkick. Also his lows from RFS are much worse in this game compared to Tekken 7. RFS d43 is minus on hit and staggers on block. RFS d3 is like -5 on hit and -13 on block.
He is alot more difficult to play in higher ranks due to his excessive highs and weakness to sidestep. I get away with hard mixes, huge damage and getting them to duck into my JFSR.
